Customer Reviews

Zosi cameras - very good results!! After much research for cameras for our house, I narrowed down my choice to this Zosi model for two primary reasons: the cost, and the many other overwhelmingly positive reviews. I had considered the wireless type of cameras available nowadays, but there were just too many reviews that mentioned lots of problems getting, and staying, connected, so I elected to go with the hard-wired video and power type. My thinking was that if the home wireless network goes down, or any camera's connection is unstable, then a wireless camera is useless. I purchased four of these cameras, so far, in April and May of 2017. I've installed three of them outside and they have performed flawlessly, rain or shine, since installation. I used the gray 3/4-inch PVC conduit and weatherproof gray PVC 4-inch round light boxes camera mounting. I drilled a 1/2-inch hole in the center of the box's cover for the cable to go into the box. I used flat head stainless steel machine screws to attach them to the covers, with silicone sealant applied to the screw holes for weatherproofing, and the same sealant around the bracket's edge for weatherproofing the bracket. It was a nice, clean, installation, with plenty of room inside those 4-inch boxes to roll up the connections. The picture included shows two of the three cameras in place. One of the four cameras I purchased has remained inside our house and is in use in our basement until it's permanent spot is ready for mounting. The camera's night vision range is excellent, but it's even better when there are reflective surfaces (sheds, lattice, etc) for the infrared to bounce off of. The video (both day and night) is very clean and crisp, and the best part is these don't cost 5 to 8 time more like the other cameras I looked at initially!! I have a UPS power backup for the system in the event power drops out. The cameras are being recorded 24/7. To add to all this, I recently installed an additional "entertainment system" consisting of 4-agile TV modulators (professional style) I purchased on that well known auction site (starts with an E) for very little $$$s each, fed by the camera's video, with their RF outputs combined to allow a single coax with 4-TV channels to connect to our 65-inch Smart TV's "TV" antenna input in our Master Bedroom. This gives us very LARGE pictures to look at of our property, and watch the Raccoons come and go, too, when there's nothing worthwhile to watch on cable TV. I did have one issue that came up with one of the four cameras within the last week. It's front "lens" (or glass) has fogged-up on the inside, for some reason, so I contacted Zosi Customer Service direct since I was beyond Amazon's return time frame. Zosi's handling of the issue has been absolutely fast and fantastic - best customer service I've received from ANY vendor in a long time. Special thanks goes out to "Anran" of Zosi Customer Service for the speedy resolution!! IMHO, these cameras are worth every dollar spent, and Zosi's Customer Support is superb!! What more could you ask for!! 5Tech support is a joke. Don't waste your money. Easy setup as far as installation goes. Was never able to set it up for email alerts.Tech support was a joke. DVR stopped working 2 months after installation. They have been giving me the run around for a week now. It is seemingly impossible to get them to back the warranty. I also purchased an additional 2 years but that now seems pointless. Don't buy this product. You get what you pay for. I payed for a $170 piece of technological garbage. 1Don't be afraid of the price point! Quality product Better than expected! Received it on 5-17-17 hooked it up and the clarity is more than I need. Also love the night vision , also very clear. Was Leary because of the price point but after reading a majority of the feed back I purchased it. Glad I did! 5HORRID Motion Sensor! I had multiple Amazon packages stolen off of my front porch yesterday. This is the first time something like this has happened. Luckily, (or so I thought) I have my Zosi security camera system! I thought it would be simple to find video of the perpetrator and report him to authorities. That assumption is where my nightmare began. The camera's "motion sensor" somehow picked up the delivery man leaving my property but it never triggered when he placed them at the door (he took a picture of the delivered packages at my door so I know they were there). When I arrived home I walked around the back of my property and the camera picked up me entering my house but not walking around the back. How could it miss something so obvious as a PERSON walking right in front of it?I spent an hour and a half re watching the footage at 1x speed (2x speed went way too fast to pick up anything and there was no in between option) to try to find who stole my items. You know what I saw? Trees moving in the wind. Nothing. This system's motion sensor will pick up a tree or nothing for fifteen minutes at a time but something as large as a person placing a package at a front door will not trigger it. Did I mention the sensor was sent to its most sensitive setting?...Yet still no footage of the brazen thief who stole these items in broad daylight.I also noticed other flaws with the system, such as I would view a car drive down the street and it would disappear midway through it. I am pretty disappointed with this system, the software was difficult to deal with too, especially when trying to scroll to a point in a video, it either did it or completely ignored my request. I called the cops and one of the first things they did when they arrived was point at the camera and say "that didn't pick it up?" I was so EMBARRASSED. No, no it did not pick it up (I do have some lovely footage of trees in the wind that it DID pick up though). I paid so much for this system and it was basically like having nothing at all. I now have no choice but to have it on "always record" because the motion sensor is so horribly unreliable. I have lost faith in Zosi and thought their product was higher quality than this. 1Do not buy. Can't stream via the Zosi App. More frustrating than anything. Piece of junk. Set up was complicated and took forever get the computer portion set up. Forget trying to stream it on your phone. It worked for the first maybe month or two and now I can't connect via my phone to the system at all. It's extremely frustrating. I'm trying to use it for my business and now I'll have to spend more money for something else. Picture quality is decent but that's the best I can say about it. Don't buy. 1Quality Issues and Poor Customer Service I bought four of these units to install on a 16 channel DVR setup. Shortly after installation, two of them stopped transmitting color information to the DVR. Both are installed under an eave outside. The connections are secure and the exterior camera connectors are protected in a sealed handy box. There are two similar model Zosi cameras that have the same issue. This issue developed over the period of a couple days - on the DVR I literally watched a camera stop transmitting color information.EDIT - This company's customer service is horrible. I have been going back and forth with them for over five days. I understand that a language barrier can present itself with dealing with inexpensive Chinese goods, but after six or seven rounds of emails, I am displeased that they are still asking entry-level questions and not offering solutions. In the attached photos, cameras 01-04 and 09-12 are ZOSI cameras - displaying no color information in full daylight. I have sent them photographs of the DVR and monitor setup, as well as the installation locations of the failed cameras. The only solution offered from ZOSI customer service is to "Try to change the HDMI cable or VGA cable". I have asked directly for a warranty replacements to be issued with no response.SECOND EDIT: Zosi eventually replaced the faulty cameras. Even in the replacement batch, there is a defective camera. Of a total of 12 cameras shipped, five of them are non functional. At nearly a 50% failure rate, I cannot in good conscience recommend these products. 2A truly high performance camera at the entry-level price point! About five years ago, I purchased a Q-See DVR and camera system. There had been a few break-ins nearby and I wanted something to supplement my security system. The cameras that came with the system proved inadequate due to low resolution and a narrow field of view. They also wore out rather quickly, giving me green skies and purple grass - not exactly what the police would need to get a conviction should a recording ever have to be admitted to court as evidence. I searched long and hard and upgraded to a set of VideoSecu cameras. At 400 TVL indicated, they were amazing, with a wider field of view and much higher resolution. The price was good too at $29 or so per unit. These proved adequate until a couple of weeks ago, when the break-ins moved onto my street. If the VideoSecu cameras have a shortcoming, and it can't be much of one at that price point considering how well they work and their durability, it's their night resolution. While checking my cameras after a break-in down the street, I found that the subject had been in my yard too, but that the noise in night mode made identification of a subject impossible. The police were happy to have the videos - they proved that the subject had been going up the street trying car doors - but they didn't allow the police to solve the incident. I decided there and then that an upgrade would be necessary, so I tried this camera. While this camera is not as much an improvement over the VideoSecu as the VideoSecu was over the Q-See, it offers a very noticeable improvement in night vision and an arguable improvement overall. Make no doubt, this camera is big for a bullet camera and it's heavy, but I think the price (lower than the VideoSecu by $5) and the increased night performance serve to highly recommend this camera. In a side-by-side test (I have two cameras that cover the same area from different angles), the ZOSI was much more clear in all light conditions and was pretty much without noise in streetlight-only illumination, where the VideoSecu covering the same area was subject to a great deal of noise. Under Christmas lights, when the VideoSecu was still black-and-white and noisy, the ZOSI offered a bit of color and a noise-free image. The field-of-view seems a tad bigger than the VideoSecu as well.Overall, this is a good camera and at this price point, is a truly stunning deal. I've purchased a four pack to upgrade my system. I'm really sure that I can't afford not to. 5Peace of mind is priceless I recently got this set-up after attempting a cheaper IP wireless camera. For my needs, the IP camera was a wash and difficult to set up and use. I decided to bite the bullet and spend a little more for this system. I do not regret it one bit! The set up is relatively easy, although wires are almost always a pain. After testing the system, I installed 3 of the 4 cameras. The included cables are more than generous in length. Although the cameras are waterproof, the connections are not, so for the one camera that isn't under the roof line, I did have to get some marine quality heat shrink wrap and a heat gun. All in all, once installed, the system is a breeze to set up. As it has a built in hard drive, it's so much easier than getting a cheaper system that requires an additional hard drive. I like that I can see, playback, and even record segments from my phone. In addition, the included DVR is easy to use and maneuver through. This is the 1st security system I ever installed, and I now feel like an expert after doing this myself. I would absolutely recommend this system, and I've actually already convinced a few neighbors to get the same system. I have a feeling I will be helping a few neighbors with their installations, now. 5Best camera for the money, hands down. You can't buy a better camera for $20. I replaced one of my zmodo kit cameras with this, and it puts the rest of them to shame.Something to note: the viewing angle is significantly wider than my original cameras, if you're looking for a zoom camera this is not it. See the picture below, the 2 cameras are mounted in the exact same location. 5G o o d Bad hardware, Bad software. The GOOD.1. Nice looking product; not cheaply constructed2. Easy to physically install.3. Video is clear and focused.4. Night vision is very good.5. Cables were of an adequate length.Summary: Good hardware. The BAD.1. Instructions are poor. Some functionality and setup functions are not described at all.2. The motion detection simply does not work:At times I'll get one email every minute from the same camera when there has been no motion at all, then no emails when a person walks in front of it. This is happening without me changing the sensitivity. I began receiving one email per minute about an hour ago after having received none all day. It's possible I have something configured wrong, but the small amount of documentation provided doesn't describe proper configuration.3. The DVR unit reboots two to three times per day.4. Sometimes it is not possible to connect with the mobile app.Summary: Bad software. If I have any trouble at my house, I'll have to search the video to find it since motion detection alerts do not work properly. My money is gone, so I have no choice but to work with what I have. When I buy a system for my barn, it'll be a different one, hopefully with software/firmware which functions properly..-EDIT-One month later:One camera now displays only a black and white picture, and I am receiving NO motion alerts. So my original statement that the hardware is good was very wrong. I've contacted the manufacturer by email after they offered to replace the DVR and my messages have been ignored. This system is crudely built JUNK. 1
