Customer Reviews

Nice face shield!I purchased this face shield because I recently bought an Echo 2 cycle weed trimmer to replace my old electric trimmer. The difference in power is night and day obviously and so is the amount of kicked up debris from trimming with the trimmer inverted for sidewalks and curbs. At first I though that safety goggles would be enough but I was wrong. My face and my lips especially were getting sand blasted every time I cranked my trimmer up. That got old quick so I started shopping for some face protection and found this. It works awesome and fits even my big head well. It stays put and the tightening system seems solid. The face screen could wrap around a couple more inches on each side but that's not a deal breaker. I do realize that you still have to be able to turn you head and stuff so I will assume that is why the shield seems smallish to me. Plus I'm a big guy. Who knows? But it does deflect the bulk of the micro asteroids that are trying to get at your pretty face. Well I know my face is pretty anyway. And I'd like to keep it that way. Overall a very sound investment. I'm happy with this purchase. Grab hold to one of these!5OPR (other people s reviews) ???After reading the reviews I almost didn t order this.I have an unusually large head It fits fine, just loosen the dial put it on and tighten the dial It took all of two minutes to assemble Anyone who takes longer is a mechanical moron It provides plenty of protection for what it is designed to do which is protect one from flying debris while weed whacking or doing some light duty chain saw My vision is impaired and I can see through the screen just fine The mesh is better than the clear plastic as in no fog no dulling and no cracks The sweatband works and could be easily replaced with something homemade if necessaryThis said, this is not a commercial piece of equipment You cannot throw it in the back of the truck and let it rattle around It will not last if used10 hours a day 5 days a week It is not air conditioned, massaging, or trained to hear your personal problemsIf you are a homeowner and will use this thing every couple of weeks through the summer, buy it If you care enough to clean the debris from the mesh before it has time to dry in place, buy it If you take care of your stuff as in hang this on the garage wall when done with it, buy it If you are smart enough to loosen then lightly tighten the headband every time you put this on, then buy itI m expecting 2-3 years of service and at this price point that will be a bargain If it fails before that I ll update this review5A great Face shield.Item arrived in great condition on the promised day. Easily adjustable headband, the yellow head pied combined with the mesh keeps your face safe from flying weeds and you can breath the fresh air and feel the wind so you don't feel sweaty and suffocated as a solid plastic face shield will do. Remember that If you are making actual dust that the dust will filter in through the mesh. But it keeps out the weeds and clippings. It's lightweight yet sturdy. A great value.5Great Product for a very great PriceA very nice face shield. I live in Hawai'i and it tends to get a little warm. I used to have the clear plastic shield and would get too warm on the face while cutting with my string trimmer because of the dead air between your face and the shield. This Shield with the perforated material, offers great protection while air can still circulate about the face. The head band can be adjusted in two ways. A slide and snap band over the top of the cranium controls how far down the shield sets on your head and the knob on the main strap adjusts the fit to the circumference of your head. There is a small plastic covered foam pad at the front of the adjustable band for comfort. I do wear a bandanna under the shield straps. This controls the perspiration on the brow as well as an extra layer of comfort it helps to in keeping wet and soggy clippings from getting into the hair.Cleaning the screen is a bit of a chore when the clippings are fresh. They get into the small holes have to be rubbed vigorously to dislodge or wait until it drys. I couldn't wait for it to dry as there was much to be cut and if the sun is in your face, the debris will cause a glare that makes it hard to see. Its not as bad as a plastic face shield though, especially if as the plastic get old and scratched.5PROTECT THE FACE!I use a gasoline-powered weedwacker, and I ALWAYS wear safety glasses. I've been hit in the face with sticks and stones, so I always protect my eyes. My wife bought this face shield for me, as she does not like me getting hit in the face at all -- and I have to agree, although she's the one who has to look at it. Gravel, pebbles and sticks striking your skin -- not my favorite thing! My neighbors give me strange looks when I get all geared up -- work gloves, face guard, hat -- but a few sidelong glances are the least of my worries while revving the weedwacker. The older I get, the more I realize it's a lot easier to prevent a problem, than it is trying to cure it after it happens. The Face Shield is solidly built, with sturdy screen in a plastic frame. If you do anything that threatens to disfigure your good looks, I recommend you wear the Face Shield (which does have a cool way of tightening to your exact head size, with a turn-knob at the back) -- and your safety glasses. I'll be doing this from now on when I fire up the chainsaw as well.Recommended!5MESH SHIELD NOT WIDE ENOUGH TO FULLY PROTECT FACE AND EYES WHEN USING WEEDEATERThis is a well designed mask for the price- it secures and fits well and the mesh screen is of good quality and does not darken your view much. HOWEVER, this mask is designed to protect your face and that is where it fails. Most face shields wrap around further, and indeed this mask has latches so that a wider/deeper shield could be used, but the shield provided does not extend back far enough. When weedeating, I have been hit close to the corner of my eye multiple times- I'd guess it would be just a matter of time before I get hit directly in the eye. I do see that it says to wear glasses underneath, and maybe many do, however I tried mesh glasses and 2 sets of mesh darkening vision equals too dark. Regular glasses fog up in my case- they are not wearable for me. A SIMPLE EXTENSION OF THE MESH MASK WOULD PROTECT THE FACE MUCH BETTER. I ordered Howard Leight 1017292 Garden Kit, as the shield is wider.1Great value for a good productI have been using the face shield for two seasons now and am very satisfied. It is very light, comfortable, and easy to take on and off. I have worn it for as long as 4 hours without feeling any discomfort. It is also simple to adjust the size if used by someone else. The screen does not obstruct my vision in a noticeable way unless debris begins to accumulate on it (as with a string trimmer). Unlike solid face shield I have used in the past, this screen does not block air movement at all. As a result, it is not hot and there is no concern with vapor buildup. I especially like the fact that the shield can be rotated up without taking it off. If necessary, it is easy to wash and/or scrub.I use it with a range of tools where eye protection alone is not sufficient. More than once it has saved me from being struck in the face. I won't work without it.Given the low cost, I was initially concerned that it might be a piece of junk and not hold up. The opposite is true. It seems quite durable, and I would definitely buy it again. It is surprising that nothing like this is sold at Lowe's or Home Depot (at least in our area). They are missing out on a good product.5Good Design. Decent Quality. Smaller than expected.Design:The steel mesh is fine enough (small holes) to block anything but dust. There are two principle advantages of this face shield design:(1) It allows air flow to cool your face (if it is hot out) or prevent condensation (if it is cold out).(2) It doesn't get coated by dust obscuring your vision like polycarbonate shields sometimes do.The downside to the design is obvious - it doesn't block very fine particles like dust.Construction:Other than the basic design, it is fairly well built. No complaints there.*The hinge works well. If you flip it up - it stays up.*Even though it is steel mesh (I checked with a magnet) it is lighter than my polycarbonate shield.*The overall shield is a little smaller than my other face shields (that is, my clear plastic shields). It is the same length (top-to-bottom) but narrower than my other shields by about three inches in circumference. Plastic face shields reach around almost to the hinge. The photo of this shield is accurate. You can see that it stops well short of the black, circular hinge.* It is labeled "Z87", the ANSI standard number for eye and face protection.4Awesome product and highly suggested I love this mesh visor when using my Shindaiwa Line Trimmer/Brush Cutter. The reason why this visor is so valuable to me is that a lot of the weeds grow in between rocks. Using the line trimmer in these areas causes rocks and debris to fly all over the place. This mesh visor prevents this debris from heading my face.I still wear a pair of safety glasses behind this mesh visor, just in case dust and tiny debris breaches the mesh.I have been using this visor for the past few weeks, on a weekend-use basis. And I am 100% happy. I would definitely buy this again. I purchased 2 of these for my friend to use at his house. The head strap is adjustable, and very easily done with the rotation of a knob. This allows you to quickly adjust the headband when installing or removing the mesh visor. 5Reduces visibility and making job look half as brightIf your cutting/drilling/mechanical work is intermixed with precision work where you want to see in great detail while drawing lines, making marks, etc., then you might find yourself wanting to swing the visor up each time you want to see super clearly. I am like that and this would be a pain to keep swinging this up and down.Reduction of clarity and light intake into your eyes is down by about 50% so it's also not good for marginal lighting conditions or working outside in the evenings without extra light. Also, this came packaged in a garbage bag with the barcode stuck on the outside! I've never seen a product from Amazon shipped like this. The screen was significantly dented (obviously)! Wish I could upload a picture but Amazon doesn't allow JPGs (only videos are supported).Giving it 2 stars since the concept of a screen is good, they only need to make the mesh finer (like by using much finer wire).2Full Face protection with ventilationThe part that attaches to your head is very adjustable and fit my smaller sized head. It's rather cheaply made, and caught my hair in a few places. Once adjusted it felt very secure and I wasn't worried about it shifting. The mesh attaches through small plastic tabs that rotate to hold it in place. It then can flip up and down as needed. It is obvious that the mesh shield that ships with it is smaller than it was made for. It is a good size for me and covers my face, so this is fine, I probably don't need the larger shield. The mesh is quite fine and darkens things, similar to sun glasses. I live in the deep south with 90+ weather and high humidity I need a solution that would allow ventilation.I have been weed-whacking for years without face protection. I decided to get this before I need it.Update: 6 Sep 14. I have now used this on a hot, humid day. I found that other than the slight tinting caused by the mesh it was essentially invisible. I felt the breeze on my face and was very comfortable. I had two experiences that I thought worth sharing: The first, sweat dropped onto the mesh, and then slowly dripped down, somewhat obscuring my vision. This was easily fixed simply by using a towel to blot it off. The second, a bug flew between my face and the screen. This totally freaked me out! It flew around "trapped" until I removed the shield. Fortunately it was some little black bug and not a stinging variant.4
