    False Start Then Smooth SailingWhen I first opened this, I couldn't get it to stick to anything. The light finally came on and I noticed the rubber suction cup wasn't pulled over the corner of the mounting plate. Once I corrected that, it works like a charm. I like being able to move it to different locations and/get it out of the way when I am not using it.5It works great for the tool that it isJust got this a few days ago. Read the issues with the ball and the vacuum but tried it anyway. I had none of these problems. The ball system is smooth and tight. I put mine on a not so smooth formica surface in my kitchen. The first time I attached it the suction worked for about 20 minutes. Then I sprinkled a little water on it. 2 days later I released it because my wife was tired of it being in the way. It had not loosened at all. It works great for the tool that it is.5Great product Well I can t say enough about this Vice I used on holding my upper ar receiver, my slides on my handguns, I even used to pound the ducktail sights on my handgun works perfect, and the biggest upside to this vice is u can move it and attached to all kinds of surfaces and never moved while using. Note after a while the suctions does loose it grip just sitting there by itself, so you want to check it to make sure your grip suction is still there 5Some deficiancies. Clever design but needs much working in, filing, and oiling on the ball and socket joint. Also requires some liquid on the rubber base to adhere. Spit works but some thick oil would be better. 3Great Desk ViseI love this product. It gives me versatility for grasping and working with small objects. For me, it's like an extra hand. The fact that I can adjust the angle of vise makes it a big asset. It was a little pricier than some, but worth the extra money for the versatility.5VersatileWhen your working on small pieces this is the ideal vice. Its small, versatile and strong for anything a bench vice is too big for. After Christmas.....this guy is ordering one.5Solid little vice for hobby and repair work.I like this vice and it has served me well. I wanted to, and have used it for detail work on a western kamisori razor...rewrapping the handle with waxed linen cordage. I also inspect my edge while it and other razors are held by it, will use for cleaning small parts like 2 cycle carb components, repairing/glueing small items, firearm parts/barrel cleaning, modeling, etc. It has held fast to the smooth clean Formica surfaces on which it was used while I worked, though if sitting for a day I have come back to it with the seal lost. No problem to easily reset the suction. I use Ballistol to coat it at the threads and sliding rods, for protection, as that is what I also use on my razors. Good finish on the materials used and nice range of adjustability. Get one if you are a tinkerer/hobbyist like me!5This product works well on my glass desk and sticks ... This product works well on my glass desk and sticks firmly if the glass is cleaned and I play with the suction mechanism for a minute or two. I've tried using this on my wooden coffee table and cannot get it to stick firmly even on a smooth and clean surface. The "teeth" of the vice have rubber pads that make it gentle on more fragile objects. I use this product to hold 3D printed models while I drill or sand them. 4Decent but lacking in quality controlI liked the height of my previous table top, vacuum vise better but this one is not bad. I attached a pic since my previous one is a common type. Everything is basically the same except for how you adjust the angle of the jaws; the yost is much better. There was a fairly big problem though. The head of the vise pivoted on it's attachment. The stamped, hex socket did not fit the shaft well at all. I had to disassemble it and sweat-solder the shaft into the hex socket. It only took 5 minutes but was quite annoying on a brand new item. The head on my old vise is attached in exactly the same way but the stamped socket is tight. It is now rock solid and the vacuum is very strong as long as the surface is smooth.3Happy with this little vise.Awesome little hobby vise. I purchased to practice lock picking and it does pretty good for the price and does what I need it to. I gave 4 instead of 5 because he suction cup doesn't really work, I could probably make it work but it would require a lot of effort. Also if it had a little more weight to the base you really wouldn't need a suction because projects that could fit in this really wouldn't need so much suction power, the weight would do the trick.Other than that positioning it, the lock is sturdy, holds whatever lock I put in pretty securely.44.5 Stars - Very good product for a very good price.This is a great little vise, especially for the cost. I am a hobby locksmith and this is great for hold locks while I work on them for extended times. The reason I didn't give it 5 stars is the suction mechanism - it works well, but not as well as other suction bases I have had. Overall I would give this 4.5 stars, but since that isn't an option, 4 it is. I recommend this for hobbyists of all kinds.4Not the same as pictured and not a great vise. Great cust. service though.Be aware, the product in the image is not the same design that they deliver.When mine arrived and i got it set up i noticed that there was a severe wobble in the jaw assembly. The one pictured here shows the stationary jaw as being a single cast piece including the post and ball joint. The design they are now selling makes these 3 individual parts. I've provided an image for comparison.I contacted customer service about the issue and they were very helpful and sent out a replacement that day without needing a return of the defective vise. However, the replacement has a similar problem of wobble. It's not nearly as bad as the first one but it still wobbles a bit. I've decided that since this one still works for what i need it to do i'm not going to try and bother with a return. I'll use it for now until i can find a better solution.The suction isn't great on it's own either. You will need to use some kind of oil or water to moisten the seal in order for it to stick for more than 20 seconds or so. I've given this 3 stars only because customer service was so responsive. For the product itself i'd rate it 2 stars3Works great for practicing lock picking!I bought this for the express purpose of practicing my lock picking and it is a very nice little vice that is very adjustable. The suction base works great on things like polished marble or granite counter tops or my laminate top desk at work, but probably doesn't work very well on non-smooth surfaces, but that is to be expected in my opinion.Overall it is a very good value for small projects.5
