    Excellent price for authentic Yaesu CD-41 Desk Rapid Charger Took my chances and did receive authentic Yaesu CD-41, in original unopened factory box. Excellent price for this charger, which works with my new Yaesu FT-2DR wall plug. Will also charge in the car when using the Yaesu EB-13 DC power plug. Purchased same rapid charger 2 weeks ago, with the FT-2DR from a Nationwide Ham Radio Store for $39.00. You would have thought after buying the new spendy radio that they would have gave me a break. Although free shipping with radio, its all in the price. So I now have one for home while using the radio wall plug. And a 2nd rapid charger for mobile use. The ED-13 12V will charge the radio and allow transmit I believe. But having the fast charger cradle in the vehicle could come in handy when travelling. Will purchase a 2nd wall supply for travelling as well. 5Died, dead, useless, after 1 year. UPDATE:Ironically, EXACTLY 1 year after I wrote the review, it is dead. Not the typical ESD "green light" all the time symptom. Was flashing a fast faint red light. Now it will not light up, or charge, at all. Tried 2 power bricks, so that is not it.For some, 1 year and some use before it dies might be OK. For me, it isn't.-------Original review: Works great so far (3 Months). I hope it doesn't get the dreaded ESD ailment that renders it useless. 5I think they're stretching things to call this a Rapid ... I think they're stretching things to call this a Rapid charger as my experience with it is quite the opposite. And now, after not very many charges, it has failed. I think I've had it for only 2 or 3 months. Putting a battery in it, nothing lights up. Now searching for alternatives.Since I wrote the above, my Ham retailer tells me there are no other rapid chargers that he knows of. So I called Yaesu and a nice person told me how to send it in as it's still under warrenty. Hopefully a better product will find it's way back to me. 1Good quality, poor product service. I have noticed you always pay top dollar for Yaesu products and the quality is generally good but this is getting ridiculous. 30$ for a charger and they can't even include the power cable? Yes it's listed on the description but most people assume if they buy this it'll have all cables included such as in the old days when you could buy a printer and they included the USB and power cables. 2Works great with my Yaesu FT-2DR handheld Works great with my Yaesu FT-2DR handheld. The FT-2DR is the touchscreen model, quite expensive and did not come with a base charger. Come on Yaesu, seriously poor marketing approach. So bite the bullet and buy the original, as this one has the light to tell you when you have a full charge. Nice feature. 5Relatively Expensive Accessory for the FT2DR But Apparently Well Made I bought the charging cradle at the suggestion of a very helpful Australian Yaesu service technician to help determine if the charging failure on my new FT2DR was related to the radio or the charger. As suspected by the technician, the charger was fine and the charger charged the radio using the cradle.I'll wait another eleven months before sending the radio back for service since the defect is a relatively minor one and something else may end up failing between now and the end of the one year warranty.The Yaesu cradle is 2-3 times more expensive than Chinese cradles for the FT2DR. Still, it appears to be well made and unlike some Chinese cradles I've owned for other radios, the FT2DR fits particularly well in the Yaesu cradle. Additionally, the Yaesu cradle includes a charging (red) and charged light (green). 5Quality Yaesu product. Does what it supposed too. ... Quality Yaesu product. Does what it supposed too. Feels solid. radio slides in and is locked in place while charging. 5Good solid base for charging Makes it convenient to charge the HT. It really is limited by the current capability of the power supply attached which for me is the stock one that came with the HT. 5Great charger, and does the job . . . But . . . . It works, but be careful. If you touch the center of three terminals with your finger you are inadvertently applying an electrostatic charge to a sensitive internal MosFet electronic component, permanently disabling the charger. There is nothing protecting the internal electronic component. This is an infamous design flaw. The unit will no longer charge until the electronic component is replaced - a ship back to the factory situation that is more easily resolved by buying a new charger. Just don't touch that center pin with your finger, whether or not the charger is plugged-in to your wall outlet. The 5-Star rating applies . . . but you've been warned. 5Works well. Chargers aren't exactly the most sexy or exciting products. This one works well and does exactly what it is supposed to do. We have a local "friendship net" for our ham radio club and this charger with the radio in it sits right next to the breakfast table, so it's handy when I use my radio each morning. Keeps the radio fully charged without issue. 4
