    Great light fixture for the money - heavy duty with thick glassGreat light fixture for the money - heavy duty with thick glass. Like other people, I compared this light fixture with others on amazon that cost $6-$10 more but chose this one because of the reviews. I just installed two of them. Straight forward installation and remember to have the wires go through the rubber gasket before attaching the wires to the house supply. Note, wire nut were NOT included so keep that in mind because you will need two wire nuts per light fixture. It comes with the metal wall box for surface mounting but I didn't need to use them because the holes in this light fixture lined up with the holes in my existing metal surface mount wall box which was in good condition and would have been a pain to replace anyway - nice!!! I used Cree LED 60W equivalent bulbs and they installed with plenty of room to spare. There are four screws to attach the light fixture to the wall box and two screws which keep the metal cage from being twisted off the light fixture --- I just hope those screws don't rust too easily as I am near the ocean which is a harsh environment. I do NOT anticipate that the light fixture itself would rust as it seems to be made out of nonferrous metal. Very good value for sure!5Classic Industrial Look; Easy InstallationBefore I get into my review, here is a FYI on 'Silver' vs. 'Brushed Steel':At the time I ordered the 'Silver' one, the image was the same (duplicate) of the 'Brushed Silver' one - but when I got it, it was painted more of a battleship grey than silver. I returned the 'Silver' ones and got the 'Brushed Steel' and they look as pictured/what you'd expect.1. Components: The fixture and guard is all metal, with a thick glass screw-in insert. The metal seems to be some kind of nonferrous pot metal, but solidly constructed. There is some clear indication that it's cast metal (rough edges), but this is rather minor in my opinion. Only the pickiest of buyers will notice/care.2. Installation: I was just replacing existing fixtures, so I already had the location on my house wired. Installing them was very easy (this was also the first time I have ever installed a porch light). Note that it does *not* come with screws to affix the mounting plate to the side of your home, nor does it come with wire nuts (to join the wires from the light fixture to the wiring from your home). These are cheap to buy at any hardware store, but it's good to know this before you get ready to install.3. Looks/functionality: I've only had these installed on my house for a couple days, but they work well and look fantastic. They cast the light well and the metal cage that protects the glass does not seem to affect the light or cast shadows in any significant way that I can detect.4. Made in China. Just a FYI to those that want to know where it's made.5great light, but the optional Brushed Steel finish wasn't worth the extra costbuild quality is excellent - I have around 10 of these Woods vapor proof ceiling-mount lights now and I'm impressed with them all the way throughbig tip - before use, run the tempered glass lens through your dishwasher or just wash it by hand and it makes a huge difference ... these seem to all have a light film on the glass, probably left over from the factory - they've all been very easy to clean and the lenses are actually nice and transparent after a washmy 3star rating is only based the optional 'Brushed Steel' finish - honestly it looks like these were just painted silver - which doesn't merit doubling the price to $34 from $17~ ... I'd highly recommend these in the basic 'Silver' finish for $17~ ----> Woods L1706 Vandal Resistant 150W Incandescent Security Light, Ceiling Mount, Silver3Great product, ultra bad design, a disaster.One order of this Woods Wall lights. 3 lamps Shipped from three different places. Just one thing in common, just look at my pictures. Amazon Warehouse made a bad check, bad packaging & shipping service. Everything is ok except for the crystal protector bulb. The must important part for a weatherproof lamp. So don't work.Customer service in Amazon bring me credit but I show this for evidence.Is a great product if you are lucky to receive it without damage.RECOMMENDATION:STAY AWAY FROM THIS PRODUCT.From time to time thing go bad, thanks God for the excellent customer service of Amazon.1Cheap Silver paint, not Brushed SteelWe ordered 8 ceiling lights and 2 wall lights in Brushed Steel. They arrived, stated it was brushed steel on the boxes, but the lights were actually painted in cheap silver paint. We contacted Amazon chat, they said they would reship the right items and sent return labels. The replacements came, and the same thing happened. NOT Brushed Steel, cheap silver paint and now we've rescheduled the electric install 3 times.1Well made, industrial style light, good price - RecommendedI purchased 6 of these for use on the pergola I am building over my patio and am very pleased. They arrived just a few days after I ordered them, were well packaged and contained all the pieces needed for a variety of mounting options. The light fixtures are extremely sturdy and I expect them to last for quite some time. The lights are finished in a silver/pewter color that appears to be powder-coat, a very durable paint that is baked on. I chose these lights because of their industrial/steampunk look, but not their color. So I did make a few minor modifications: I spray painted the fixtures with black automotive wrinkle finish paint, wrapped the ceramic bulb insulator with a bit of copper tape then finished them up with an old fashion Edison style light bulbs. I think they look like fixtures that would cost three times the price. They have since gone through several drenching Texas thunderstorms and all continue to work faultlessly with no fogging or condensation build up. (just seal the junction box caps with silicon as the manufacturer's instructions state) I would definitely recommend them.5Perfect light for my entry.Great light, easy to install. Gave my front entry just the look I was going for. It's nice and solid and seems to have a better than average seal to keep the water and bugs out. Customized it with a coat of paint and then had it installed within about 15 minutes (once the paint was dry).5Absolutely infuriated at what I receivedOK, let me preface this review by stating that all six of the units I ordered were packed securely and arrived In A sturdy box. Which is to say, damage was not incurred by shipping.We ordered six of these based on the very reasonable price and decent reviews. We were looking for something a little pseudo-industrial.Upon receiving them, complete with Edison LED bulbs, Our electrician started unboxing them to be used in lighting that we were having installed along the side and back of our house.Of the six units, five were chipped/broken at the threading of the glass cover. All in exactly the same spot.They were threaded into the light fixture, And then wrapped in cardboard and secured with foam. There is absolutely no way that shipping would cause this kind of damage. Our electrician had to twist really hard to get the glass covers unseated from the units. Upon twisting, you could hear the grinding of what sounded like sand. It took a lot of exerted force to open them.Once opened, we were disgusted to find that nearly every single cover (5 out of 6) was cracked at the top threading of the lip in nearly identical spots on each one.Clearly they had been over tightened at the factory and were probably broken before even leaving point of origin. Because of the way the cover meets the hardware unit, effectively hugging the lip, there were no broken pieces floating around until They we re unseated by twisting off.Sadly, because all of the fixtures bases were already mounted on our wall, we weren t able to repackage and send back before discovering the broken covers. We had to make do with silicone sealant & the cage that affixes over the glass.I know there are great reviews for this, and I know that mistakes happen. But c mon!! five out of six??Monstrously terrible quality control. Included pictures .1All metal construction and super easy installAll metal construction and super easy install. Literally takes 15-20min to install. The fixture did have some weird bumps and not so perfect edges....I think it's molded metal and QC is not that great but overall it's just an industrial outdoor light and it def will last. The clear glass that encases the bulb is as thick as a mason jar. I used a 60w equivalent led bulb which I think is too bright so I'd recommend 40 w or 25w4Stay tuned........These have worked great. I have three of them, and I use a clear LED bulb in each, that has a cool operating temperature & only uses 7 watts of electricity. I had them a couple of years before I actually installed them, and they've now been up for about 3 years. Today was our first really nice day out, so I took a bucket of cool water with soap outside and went to clean the glass diffusers or "jars" if you want to call them that, and one of them broke while I was washing it. All I was doing was washing it in the bucket with my bare hands & I broke an obround hole in it about 1" X 1.5" just by handling it with my fingers. I thought the glass was much thicker than it is. It's actually paper thin. I'm very surprised since these are supposed to be a rugged & somewhat vandal proof outdoor light. I reinstalled it on the fixture for now. Now to see if I can get replacement diffusers from the company. I'll buy extras if I can.....we'll see how it goes.5
