    Recommended for professional fabric work, not ideal for home use thoughThis is a great, quality product for anyone who is looking for professional-grade fabric scissors. They are built well and packaged nicely. I ended up returning mine due to their large size. I was looking for some decent, general use scissors for tough materials and packaging. They are extremely large for that kind of thing, but they should work well for fabrics and cloth. Overall, I would recommend this product for professional fabricwork, but not for standard home/garage use.5GreatListen up folks, if you haven't spoiled yourself with a crazy nice pair of scissors yet, you just don't care about yourself. It's time to step up to the big bad adult league of scissors and start cutting chicken bones and fat and meat and bacon parts with the same tool you cut paper and EVERYTHING else with. get em', ya baby.5did the job Great for cutting carpet or rug pad. super sharp and hefty. well made. does strain thumb with prolonged use but I have small hands. seem to be made for large hands - I have a size 7/7.5 hand (glove size) 4Lifetime shearsAs others have said, the finish is a bit rough. However, where it counts, the blades are very sharp and clean. The tension was set nicely and the feel gives you confidence they are up to any heavy duty task. Cuts the thinnest plastic film cleanly as well as heavy leather. Tired of cheap shears/scissors that fail. These are heavy duty shears that should last a lifetime. Never spent this kind of money on a pair of shears but I'm glad I did.5Very good but...I think these are high quality shears that worked well for my needs. I used to use kitchen scissors to cut fiberglass cloth for surfboard ding repair and the scissors would always create runs and pulls in the cloth. So now that I needed to work in glass cloth again for another hobby, I was determined to find a better solution to cutting the fabric. These shears are large and heavy (but not in a bad way). I chose the smaller 10" version and worried I needed the 12" version. This turned out not to be a problem. The 10" version worked well. My only complaint is that the shears are very stiff in the hinge. I can't tell if it is the hinge itself, or the fact that the shears seem to have a fair amount of pressure on the two blades. That is, they sort of overlap so that when you cut with them, the blades rub against each other as they close toward the tip. They are tight enough that I can barely open them with my cutting hand alone. I oiled the hinge but it didn't do anything meaningful. Maybe they will break in overtime. I wouldn't give them back though as they did an excellent job cutting the fiberglass cloth.4Great Pair of Shears!I am way behind on reviews for all I've purchased over the years from Amazon. I just got a request to review this product and these are so good I had to stop and put in my 2 bits as my dad used to say. I saw the great reviews and always meant to get a good pair of scissors for the shop. Bargain scissors aren't worth having when put to the litmus test as my mom used to say. I've used them for cutting leather, rubber sheeting and it still clips the thin plastic bags that small parts come in. I don't think thin sheet metal would be a problem. You'll notice first thing how much they weigh. They have a quality feel, comfortable to size large hands and glide smoothly as they cut. I believe this is the type of scissor that they use in murder mysteries because I was never afraid of regular scissors. Liked them so much I ordered a second pair for the kitchen the next day.5The really good stuff. Buy thisThis pair is made in Columbia not the usa. But is excellent quality. I have used wiss shears for forty years. And was saddened when they went to a heavier style years ago. But still they are the industry standard for upholstery. I bought these and a 7 1/8 inch smaller pair, to replace two similar sized ancient all metal scissors I'd had for ages. These seem very well made and have a good edge, metal feels like it'll take a good edge too, when sharpened, if they dull - but haven't tried that yet.Really glad I got these they're a huge upgrade from what I had. My old ones were good considering, for common not very expensive household all-metal scissors - they'd been through the mill. Used on practically everything, so to speak. Bigger than I was expecting (my fault for not reading carefully). They are very well built, strong and sharp. You're able to disassemble for cleaning and sharpening. Finally a pair of scissors that can cut through those stupid blister packs and still cut paper. I can cut a beer can in half (yes, don't even ask me why) and these scissors will still cut paper perfectly, even at the end of the blades (where most other scissors will fail after a while). We beat the . . . well, you know . . . out of these scissors and they are still as sharp as when we bought them last year. I really think we'll be handing these scissors down to our kids (unless they end up in a slasher movie. Yes - they look just like the ones in Psycho!). :-)5These scissors / shears are worth 10-STARS! If you've been looking for a sharp, sturdy, strong, easy to use pair of scissors / shears, look no further these are it! They are extremely strong, no flex when cutting and very sharp. I highly, highly recommend these, you won't find any better anywhere. 5Great shears for the money!Bought these for my wife for sewing, she loves them, and now her mom wants a pair.I have a pair of heavy Wiss shears I bought 20 years ago when I worked in boatbuilding. I forget what the model was (long worn off the blades), but they are bigger and nicer finished than these, but they were also around $100. I figured I'd give these a shot for my wife (who usually uses cheap shears), and she loves them. These definitely don't have quite the same fit and finish as my old Wiss shears, but these are still much better than most other shears on the market for a much better price. I've sharpened my old Wiss shears many many times over the years, and these look as though they will be just as resharpenable, the blades appear to be pretty hard.Highly recommend these for anyone looking for some nice fabric shears without wanting to spend a fortune.5Check your blades, look for previous use etc.Ive always been a wiss fan, i use them for upholstery and my constant goal for quality cuts fot my fabric is the sharpness and comfortability of my blades. When i opened the package, the original sleeve it comes in was ripped in half and when i opened the blades to get them adjusted, they were very hard to open and had to clean and re-oil the blade joints and readjust (loosen) the blades substantially just to be able to fully open the blades.. Very unhappy this time WISS. I thought i ordered new instead of refurbished.-jordan3
