I got this wire the beginning of August, ran it a few days later and have been fighting with it ever since. Sometimes it would work and then the phone would be dead. It's been horrible. I used to work for the old New England Telephone back in the 70s. The drill is to put the phone on the Red and Green wires for consistency. Finally yesterday I crossed the leads on one end and then metered them on the other end. AMAZING There was a restive short on that pair. The reading keep going up and down. Brand new wire!! I don 't know if it's a broken wire barely touching or and insulation issue.I switched over to the yellow and black pair and I was done in no time at all. No, I did NOT hammer it down with staples.You'd never expect this of brand new wire. I'll never buy anything from Vanco again! 1Its wire SUPER light weight. This is good quality, regular, 4-conductor, solid (not stranded), telephone cable, with the usual red/green/black/yellow color scheme. You can support up to two phone lines using this cable. There is nothing wrong with it at all. The reviews I'm reading seem unnecessarily harsh. It works just fine for its intended purpose. I like to run good-old-fashioned copper telephone wires throughout my home, as it is more reliable and more secure, and this cable does the trick. 5
