Granted you'll need to pull the fan down (take it apart) to install the medallion, but is worth the hassle if you're into this sort of d cor. All of our Hunter ceiling fans are bronze, so we wanted to have a bronze color medallions installed. These can be painted and if you get a decent bronze spray paint, you'll have a pretty nice looking medallion to match the ceiling fan. The medallions we received are flat bright white in color. The flat texture makes it perfect for painting. The paint adheres to the medallion very well.5Ceiling MedallionI bought this medallion to cover some damage around the light on the ceiling. I had originally bought a 10" medallion at a local store but it didn't look right. I found this 16" ceiling medallion and it did the trick. I now know that it looks best to use a medallion with the same overall diameter as the light fixture it goes under. The medallion is paintable but it didn't need it. Good Value.4Loved the size and clean linesLoved the size and clean lines. Was perfect for covering up the large hole where there was an outside fan. I have enclosed the screen room with Windows and added a light with a small base. This worked out excellent. Will take a picture.5Clean and Subtle If you're looking for something that won't distract from your cool lighting fixture like some versions of these things, this is a good choice. Doesn't detract from your lighting fixture at all. Materials are a little suspect; I feel like it might discolor over time. But that's an assumption not based on my experience with this unit. 4Great for price, elevates any fixture and helps to cover any holes when replacing/upgrading fixturesThese medallions do add a touch of elegance and elevates any installed fixture. These have a great price point, the reason I give them a 4 star is that they aren t *quite* as nice as the Portfolio brand from Lowe s which I have used in the past. In the collage photo you can see the difference between the two, with the Portfolio brand (Lowe s) on right and Westinghouse (here) on left. The Westinghouse brand is a whiter color which can give it a more plastic look and has a slightly less bubbly edge, this can be corrected by using a spray primer and painting it a slightly creamy color (or any desired color.) All that said, the Portfolio brand is $22 at Lowe s so you can almost buy two of these Westinghouse for the price of one Portfolio. They are not close enough to mix and match so heads up, choose one brand and stick with it throughout your home.4Great value for medallion!This is pretty much the same thing you'll find at a home improvement store, but for much less! I always prime and paint these medallions to make them look like plaster instead of plastic. Once you're sure the light is in place and hanging at the right height, caulk around the outside edge of the medallion for a professional finish.5Great decorative addition to light fixtureUsed this to cover up a hole in the ceiling where the cut-out for the electrical box was cut too big. Works really well for that. The plastic is sturdy enough that the edges sit flush with the ceiling even after securing it under the ceiling fan mounting bracket.Easy and inexpensive solution to this problem plus adds a high-end look.5Beautiful and Easy Fix to Ceiling GapSo happy we got this! We had to replace our bathroom fan and had a huge ugly gap there for a year. I had the idea to try a ceiling medallion, ordered this, got it the next day and my husband had it up in less than 20 min. It is quite smooth and bright of the surface. My new chandelier just needs this simple medallion and it fits perfectly.5good for covering crackswe have a light/fan combo in the bath where the ceiling was cracking around it, no doubt from the moisture. we took the fan down, patched the crack with spackle and then caulk. we used this medallion to cover the area, sealed all around it with caulk so no moisture can get under it and put the light/fan back up. so far, so good. and it's paintable4Clean look, basic but elegant accent.I m very happy with this ceiling piece. I ve purchased 3 of these so far. They are a great accent to ceiling fans or light fixtures. They also do the job of cleaning up gnarly cut outs & surprises under fixtures. The look is clean and simple but adds an elegant touch. Its finish is semi glossy so I m not sure how well it would accept paint unless you were to prep it first. I was able to use them as they are so that added to the ease of use.
