    The Review It works! Comes with several attachments, the grip doesn t get hot enough to create discomfort, great addition to my firearms accessories of DIY.Only (1) con: the power cord is on the little short side, but nothing an extension cord couldn t fix, as long as you had them laying around.Project Ruger LCP - Frame StipplingChose to do the stippling for the first time on this gun because they are inexpensive new @ around $185. The DIY job turned out great. 5Shoddy quality The first time I started using it the metal tips started to disintegrate because of the heat, as if they were not made to be used for a hot wood burner. The heat of them made it do I had to use a tool to unscrew the tips and switch them. That was fine and normal to me except that it left imprints in the tips. Again, like they were not make to withstand the heat. The second time, during an actual project(the first time was just practice) one of the tips ruined the inside screw, making is impossible to connect them anymore. Luckily, I didn't really need to use it any more for what I was working on, but that's all I got from this, one project.I know that the fumes from wood burning can be dangerous, which I thought was fine, but the material of the tips was making me wonder if it was getting into something extra toxic. 1cheap price and cheap product I ordered it because it said in the reviews that it was the number one best seller. My guess was b You definitely get what you pay for, with this one. The idea for the tool is to burn the design in the wood and do it nicely and quickly and safely. Spend more and get it right the first time. I'm sending mine back:( 2This is a cool tool. I actually bought it in order to stipple the grips on one of my handguns and it worked perfectly for that. If this is what you want to do with it, make sure you practice first. 4Shorter barrel gives better control PLUS a 7 year warranty, this will do just fine. Great little wood burner for small hands and fine details.I bought this woodburner specifically because of the the name Weller but mostly because it has a shorter barrel which is super helpful for smaller details as it gives you a much better control. You can get your hand closer to the surface and it feels closer to drawing than it does with the long barrel types. I had a Weller soldering iron from ages ago that served me well(er), so hopefully this will too.The case is a little cheap and so is the tray that holds everything, but I just slap it all in the case when its done and cool. The various tips are a bonus, my previous wood burner did not have interchangeable tips, just a wedge shape. It was a wally world item that did not last very long.My only concern is long term use and the tips becoming loose, this is a common problem for wood burners and soldering irons that are used heavily. If there was a heavy duty type with a short barrel for near the same price I would have bought that one. However I wanted to keep it under 20 bucks.TIP: Let it cool before swapping tips...yes this is a pain when you are engaged in a project but a hot tip strips easier. On my soldering iron I had a tiny bit of thermal past dabbed on there to make the tip swap easier.It does get hot, not too hot to hold, but you can def feel the heat. If it's a problem, then I will put some foam insulating tape on it for a softer grip.BUT it has an unbelievable 7 YEAR warranty!! so if it burns out, I guess I am covered. Just messing around. 4Great for practice and getting started This is a wonderful tool and great for starting out, but if I could go back, I would get one with a temperature dial. Also, this handle heats up so hot that you can't hold it. I had to tape some foam to the handle. The universal bit is the one I've used the most and I've made some great art with this. 3Not user friendly First of all, it was mission imposible to open the box! Then, it was burning me! The handle gets really hot. I am not sure how bad this is compared to other brands because this was the first time trying a wood burner, but I saw people on YouTube using one and it seems like the handle was thicker. It was just a bad experience :( I was also not able to write on the wood, no matter what tip I used. RETURNED 1Dangerous - almost started a fire I would not recommend to anyone as this nearly caused a fire in our house.I was working with one of the tools and the tip got a little lose so I got some pliers to screw it back in tighter. It worked okay so I kept using it. Then the top fell off and landed on the rug under my desk. Guys, if I hadn t had the pliers out to pick it up off the rug (way to hot to touch!!!) quickly I think it would have caught on fire. There was a burn mark left in the rug. These tips get hot! You don t want it falling off - it could land on your foot (or any number of places) and seriously burn you. Steer clear at least of this kind. 1Would NOT recommend Purchased this item based on the relatively decent reviews. Used it two times. Replaced the tip twice and inner threads stripped out keeping you from inserting any tips at all. No, I did not "wait for it to cool down". Didn't suggest that I do and shouldn't have to wait 15 minutes to change tips. Went to try a return and Amazon only allows for 30 days. Will update if anything comes of escalating but something tells me I wont be. Would not purchase this again and recommend against it based on my experience so far. 1This wood burning tool was working fine at first This wood burning tool was working fine at first, I made a few sets of coasters..After about 10 coasters, I noticed that the tips were becomig lose, not a major issue.Then, after making maybe 5 more coasters, one of the tips melted halfway in the burning tool and broke inside!I am soo disappointed! I only had about 10 more coasters to make for Christmas for presents AND have less than 2 days to make!! I would not reccomend buying this, I feel like I wasted my money :( :( 1
