Don't waste your $$ on more expensive models!! I just moved into a new residence, and was looking on Amazon for a new handheld showerhead. I have owned a number of different handhelds in the past, and definitely prefer them. However, it's been atleast 8 years since I had to buy a new one so, I began reading reviews, and more reviews & more reviews....! What I found was, no matter HOW MANY HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS you're willing to spend on a handheld unit, the vast majority of them seem to have the same complaints (ie: low water pressure, leaks, length of hose, and varying difficulty of installation). With this mind, I decided to try this cheapo model by the same company from which I had purchased before. ...Glad I did!! :) It's Awesome! For one thing, I believe that the water pressure (which many people complain about with any number of handhelds), has a lot to do with how the water pressure was, already, in your home (or wherever you intend to install a handheld showerhead). I mean, the way people complain about water pressure, you would think they expect that a handheld will IMPROVE their already-weak pressure. If you have weak water pressure to begin with, don't expect the best, most-expensive handheld on the market to improve that. In my case, the water pressure was great to begin with, and continues to be so after I've installed this handheld.As far as leaks go, this unit is tight-fitting & awesome! Many people think that if they remove those little black rubber rings from the ends of the hose, they will achieve better water flow, however, those are WASHERS, and are supposed to remain in place in order to get a good water-tight seal. ;)Regarding length of hose, this model comes with 4 1/2 feet, which is just fine for most standard home showers. Anymore length would simply be "hanging around" with nowhere to go, unless you own an unusually large shower and make habit of walking to the far end!Installation....Surprsingly easy! I'm no "handy-man", but I was able to install this thing by myself within 8 minutes. The toughest part was taking off the pre-installed showerhead (which required a few turns of a wrench). However, no tools were needed to install this handheld.The only "downside" that I can see from this particular showerhead, is that is only has 4 settings, one of which is like a regular shower, and the other 3 are variations of "massage" settings. ...Now, for me, this is just fine -- I just keep it on the regular shower setting. But, if you're someone who needs 12 or more different settings, well, you'll have to invest more money elsewhere.After receving, installing & enjoying this product, I really have to wonder why people spend $50-$200 or more on similar products! 5Old reliable And it looks good too.This is number 3. The other two accumulated deposits from my hard water, but were still working after a lot of years each, and the accumulation was my own fault. I should know enough to wipe the head off after using it. Or more accurately, I shouldn't be so lazy. Multiple streaming options really work--that is, they really do differ from each other, from a pleasant stream to a hard massage that drives the shampoo out of my hair.I've bought well over a thousand dollars worth of faucets for my bathroom renovation, but my shower head will continue to be this one. Hope that tells you what you need to know. 5Had only 4 positions!!! The older models have 6 positions which included a near 100% off without turning the water off. THIS one has only 4. It is missing the "OFF" and "HIGH-POWER NARROW" SETTING. I GAVE MINE TO agape FOR SOMEONE ELSE TO USE AND WENT back TO THE "old style" SHOWER HEADS. There is nothing WRONG with the new style but I prefer the OLD style!!!David. 3Cheap but kind of works Ok shower head. Really cuts back on the water flow. I could spit faster than the water coming out of this head until I removed the strainer (had to break it out); even then do not get the flow of water that I want. For the price not that bad.This shower head is perfect for someone with a teenage daughter who wants to drain the water heater every time they take a shower. Wish I had this when back in the day. 2works well and worth the money At first there wasn't enough water pressure to get the soap off. Disappointed. Then I looked inside and saw the plastic restriction piece that was easily removed. Just punch it out with a Phillips head screwdriver. After that it was perfect. I prefer the lightweight plastic vs. a all metal unit. Especially the hose being more flexible than the metal version. I'm really pleased with this unit and find it well worth the money. 5EXCELLENT! Exactly what I was looking for! The one we have used for 25 years was leaking way too much, but we kept using it because we couldn't find one similar, then I saw this one. I wasn't sure if this would have as good a flow as our old one, and actually had planned on taking out the flow-regulator, but I didn't have to take it out because the flow was just fine. I'm thinking about buying another one to put up for when this one wears out in 25 years...LOL 5Product received not what was shown in the description The shower head shown in the description has six spray settings. The one we received only has four settings! Deceptive advertising! Going to keep it as it was a gift, but not very happy with this purchase. Somewhat disappointed to say the least. 2Back to Basics! Had this unit years ago and we loved it, we ended up redoing our shower and upgraded to a chrome, huge head, many different spray streams, LONG hose unit and put the old white plastic one in a second unused bath. After years of that damn huge one falling and hitting the floor of our shower or your foot or head we finally went back to basics. Purchased the newer original waterpik through Amazon and installed and used-and we are quite happy again. It s a basic, lightweight, unit that will I m sure last for years. 5Impossibly cheap hose destroys any value/benefit. What a disappointment! I've had Waterpik shower heads since they were first introduced, and they've always been fine. Those days are apparently gone.This latest one is just so cheap and tacky. Particularly the shocking white hose that, no matter how much hot water you run through it or how long you hang it with weights to encourage it to reform, simply refused to hang properly. I even asked the community if anybody had figured out how to get the hose to relax, and the answers were "let me know if you find out."Take a look at the photos. Both are of this shower head, but the first one is as received, with the clunky hose. For the second photo I temporarily attached the old hose just to show how a proper hose should hang. That hose is from a previous Waterpik: notice it's both longer and more flexible. I'm sure they saved all of 27 cents by using a short, cheap, stiff hose.I'll keep this installed only long enough to research and order a replacement. Silly me for thinking that Waterpik - the company that, as Teledyne, pioneered this product category - still cared about their quality and their legacy. 2Meets my needs -- No problems Waterpik SM-451 Original 4-Mode Massage Handheld Shower, WhiteI just installed the SM-451 model, replacing a version from 20 years ago (the bracket broke). Installation took 10 minutes or less. Let me respond to what I see as the major complaints or issues I read in other reviews:1) The handle on my previous model attached to the bracket at a point right below the shower head. On the SM-451, the handle attaches to the bracket at the bottom end. The result is that the new shower head is held in a higher position. I'm 6'0" tall, so this is an advantage for me, but reaching the shower head with the SM-451 model may be a problem for shorter people.2) For this model (SM-451) the red water restrictor is located in the bracket. To remove it, use a pliers to grip the small tab extending from the white plastic part in the center of the up-stream screw connector on the bracket. Rotate the part counter-clockwise and it will unscrew easily. Then use long needle-nosed pliers to remove the red water restrictor. I had adequate water flow and water pressure without removing the restrictor. So, I recommend that you try it first with the restrictor in place.3) The hose comes tightly coiled in the package. This reduces space and shipping costs. Initially, the hose keeps its kinks and deformities, but with repeated use in a hot shower, it will relax.This product meets my needs and I have no problems with it, so I give it 5 stars. 5
