    Small, restores edge on pocket knives well This little steel is effective at bringing back the sharpness of a pocketknife that's been dulled by normal use. A steel doesn't sharpen, it just straightens out the near-microscopic curl-over of the sharp edge. If the knife was sharpened well in the first place, and the edge hasn't been nicked or dented or otherwise abused, a steel will restore its sharpness by stroking the steel away from edge (that is, the opposite direction from sharpening with a stone). This pocket steel has enough handle to grip it and it does the job well. 5Just what I was looking for. It's a keeper. I just got my Victorinox Sharpening Steel and I HAD to try it out right away.The size is just what I wanted. The quality is perfectly workable.I used it on a Hoffritz paring knife. It brought back the edge with just a few strokes to each side. Time will tell whether it holds up or not.It's eminently EDC-able.I'm not sure how strong the D-ring is, I want to put a fob on it to make it easier to hold.But as far as I can tell, it's a keeper.Update:it's been a few weeks now and I've gotten Into the habit of reaching for this little steel when a knife just needs a touch-up. One aspect to recommend it is that it's a much finer steel than your average knife set steel so it would be a next step in refining an edge after the big one.As far as size goes I've used it on a 10" butcher knife and a meat cleaver effectively the small size doesn't get in the way. 5A great product. Perfect!! For dressing the edge of a Kukri. Great size for this application. Good to use the steel by hand on the blade - instead of using the blade on the steel. Great for my application - understanding the size of this tool and the related size limitations and appropriate size use of this tool. A great product. 5I kind of really like this a lot Knew how small it was going into this purchase, still said 'aww thats cute' when I opened the package. I work in kitchens so have to hone knives all the time, this was able to hone a blade. If it can hone a blade it is doing it's job. If it's doing its job I can feel confident that I can maintain an edge on a blade in the field. Honestly it fits in that pocket watch pocket, lol, every pair of jeans have so not having it all the time is silly. Would actually buy another one because I can see myself losing this once or thrice. 5A POCKET SIZE STEEL FOR POCKET SIZE BLADES I LOVE IT !!! It is tiny by nearly all standards,but, it works beautifully. It is just the perfect thing for me to keep an edge on my small knives and multi-tools. If you take the time to practice using it, it should serve you well for smaller blades. I am a classically trained carpenter (lots of razors edge sharpening) and owned a sharpening service, so, when I say it works for me, it really works for me.Victorinox Sharpening Steel Multi-Tool 5... no idea that this little steel would work so good. It brings the edge right back to my ... I had no idea that this little steel would work so good. It brings the edge right back to my well used blades. I use this on my pocket knives and keep this little gem handy in my car and camp bag. It really only takes a few swipes and I'm back in business. I strongly recommend this tool as it realigns your blade and doesnt remove steel from the edge. It greatly reduces the wear on your knife. 5Tiny, but exactly what I wanted It s true, this honing Steel is very small. So small in fact that when I opened the package I said, Wow, this thing is a adorable. I wanted a honing rod that was compact and portable, and this definitely meets the criteria. Just be careful not to lose it. 5Best money I spent in a while. The Victorinox Sharpening Steel has become a new standard item on all knife sheaths. I can't say enough good things about this product it's GREAT. 5Practical mini-steel Unlike the Opinel model, this is a functional sharpening steel. This will certainly give you a better edge than a pull-through carbide sharpener. Though it would probably be equivalent to the steel-disc type pull-through sharpeners. My preference is a little bit keener of an edge than a steel will produce, but if that's what you're looking for this is totally functional. And as far as I know, the only functional mini-steel you can get. 4So small it's barely usable! Product Dimensions said 5 x 2 x 2 inches . I figured this meant the handle was 2 inches long and the sharpener was 5 inches long. ...Wrong! Product description is inaccurate. Entire thing comes in under 4 inches!There are many pocket sharpeners on the market which will cost less and provide a faster, more efficient sharpening job and on a wider range of blades.Don t waste your money on this one! 1
