garbage all 40 of my drives have been very finicky. They get stuck at 0b/s for hours on end. It takes all day to write a few gigs to them. I contacted the seller and never received a response. Would not recommend these drives to anyone. 1Verified reliability I used Flash Drive Tester v.1.14 to read/write/compare each sector. All 10 pieces passed the test with zero errors. I was afraid that these were another "cheap made in ROC" and that they will not read/write well. The test takes about 40 minutes for each 16Gb to be checked, and none show any errors.These USB keys will not hold my most precious data, but they will heavily be used to transport and share files with coworkers and family. At least I can see now that no data will be lost! Great price and I like the swivel cover rather than caps that always get lost. 5Work fine to share documents or store small selection of filesSometimes I just want to share a few photos, documents, or a slideshow with family or friends who may not have access to the same secure servers or cloud services. USB2 means slow, so it takes a bit of time to secure-erase and reformat them to share with either Mac and PC users. They are not super speedy, but these sticks are sturdy, reliable, and affordable as giveaways. The metal strip provide some protection for the business end, but it also provides a nice surface for a marker-note or a small label. I think this style is sold for promotional printing. I am happy with the purchase and happy to have a few spare thumb-drives on hand.5Great little thumb drives!These are great little thumb drives at a great price. I purchased the 8 GB units. The end caps can be totally removed. I worry the caps can be lost but then they provide 100% dust prevention. I got the red drives but will get the other colors possibly. The opposite end of the drives furthest from the USB connector has a loop tether. Also, that end contains a red LED that blinks when data is being transferred...remains constant when no data is transferred. I liked these so much I purchased a second set. The drives come enclosed in a nice cardboard box with a sectional divider. The case is metal (I checked it with a magnet). A bit of an update (090119): I was having a problem with intermittent recognition (mounting) of the drive using Windows 7. I use my laptop's front USB connector a lot for USB Drives. I then used a 6 inch extension USB cable and haven't had one problem since (40 for 40 burns). I do sometimes have a slow burn but that time I was also on the Internet. Looking forward to buying more of these drives. Hope this helps. Update (091819)...purchased another 30 units. Love these little drives.Update: October 30, 2019 Still love these great little USB Drives. I think I've purchased about 100 of these units in the past 12 months. I like the red-cased Drives. The internal LED is red and looks nice. I haven't purchased any other color...don't know if the case color is the same as the LED color. One new unit I received had a dead short. I took it apart by removing the clear cap...it is held in with a spot of silicone. I didn't discover any solder bridges but solder-wicked and removed the USB connector. Then I re-installed the USB connector. Short went away and the unit communicated okay. I power-up units for 24 hours now just as a test.5Well they workTLDR, at this time they appear to work as expected and I'm happy with them.I have purchased larger USB drives in the past and they end up being bad or cloned wrong size. So when I received these the first thing I did was a format, then copied 14.5gb of data to them and now I get to listen to a very unorganized random set of Pink Flyod (like 14 alubms that I converted) in my car. Speed seems fine.Overall the design is okay. They look like several of the knock off's/cheap ones (since they all user similar cases) but these are operating just fine.My only complaint is they just like the old smaller ones that didn't perform well. I should have bought a differnet color as I have several of those on my desk as well. These are primarily used for install OS's on to computers and for testing of data. Sadly, my stack of 4GB aren't big enough anymore (for which I have like 30 of them).Bang for buck, so far yes.5Not worth the small amount of money they cost.I knew that when I was purchasing these there was likely to be a few that had some issues. First one I used worked as intended. Second one failed upon data transfer almost immediately. I haven't used any more since then so I can't speak on how many work overall. We mainly bought these for temporary file storage, mostly for file transfer. Put movies or music on them to take to our tv to watch, so our expectations weren't super high. I would not trust these to store vital data that you do not have a backup of.Edit. After having a chance where we needed to use more of these I wanted to update my review. I would definitely not purchase these again. I believe we may have been able to use these a hand full of times before they all stopped working. If I even thought about formatting the one I was using two others in the package already gave up on life. I never had high expectations but these were a waste.1Incredibly Slow Speed. Only good for tiny files. First off, this product does work. I have tested it out, but the speed was incredibly slow. It is near useless for me, as it takes way too long to transfer anything.I have included photos of the test on this review.I only tested 2 flash drives, and they were similar. I have tried to rest of small files, and the same results. It took me forever to get the test done, so I did not go through all of the flash drives. They are all 15.0 GB.Pros:-Not much pros here. The only thing is that they were sold in bulk. It is kinda cheap, but there are cheaper options from branded flash drives out there.-Indicator light (Pretty dim and can't be seen at angles)Cons:-Incredibly Slow Speed-Price could be cheaper for qualityFor the durability of the flash drive, they were plastic. Good for normal uses and the head of it were not straight for all of it. I am tossing them out and going to a standard store and gettingcheepos there, even if I have to pay more.It's actually worth "0."Go elsewhere.1How can you screw up a USB Flash Drive?I bought a powered 10 port USB hub to go with this 10 pack of USB Flash Drives. I should have been able to use all of these drives at the same time, in parallel. Within a few minutes of connecting the drives, 3 had already failed with IO errors. I was writing data to one drive at a time, so it's not likely I was drawing too much power for the USB hub.I unplugged the 3 drives, and re-plugged them. As expected, the drives were fine. I tried running performance tests on the drives. Most of the drives had streaming IO of 2M/s. Some were about 65k/s. A couple had only 16k/s. But while simply trying to write to the drives, several went off line again.UPDATE: (12-11-2019) I suspect that these drives are incorrectly marked as 32GB and are really only 4GB drives. The drive info seen by Windows and Linux says 32GB, but when I try to write more than 4GB to them, they get IO errors and fail. I was able to verify that all 10 of my drives failed, and I decided to return them for a refund.1All 10 work perfectly A great product as usual, very handy and durable and I trust this usb drive will last much longer than others I have purchased.The customer service is also fantastic. VICFUN had sent follow up email to me to make sure you clear where your staff is and when it supposed to arrive. I have submitted a return and have a return label and it will go out tomorrow morning.1Works well, good value, very generic, LED is hard to seeI've bought these twice, a few months apart. Each time, I tested every one, by mounting them and writing a file, and they all worked.The first time there was no logo on the metal shield, and they were formatted with a MS partition table and one VFAT partition. They show up in lsusb on Linux as "058f:6387 Alcor Micro Corp. Flash Drive". I've used them for lots of things now, and have had zero problems.The second batch had the VICFuN logo on one side. They were formated without a partition table. The entire drive was one VFAT file system. They show up in lsusb as "abcd:1234 Unknown". That's the most generic usb id I've ever seen. I haven't used them for anything yet, but every one mounted and let me write a file.On both batches, the activity LED is hard to see. A friend has the white version of one of these, and the LED shows clearly through the plastic body. These dark blue ones don't pass the light nearly as well. You can still see the LED dimly in the circular groove where the metal shield turns.Overall, these are a good value.Update, 2018.2.17, I've bought a third 10-pack. They work just as well as the first two batches. They're kind of like a combination of the first two batches. They don't have a logo on the cover, but they do have a small VICFuN logo on the usb connector. There's nothing to show what capacity they are, but they show up as the correct size when mounted. They have a MS partition table, with one vfat formated partition. They have the "abcd:1234 Unknown" usb id.5Third time ordering this productI'm a photographer. And while I send my photos to my clients via Dropbox many times they also want a thumb drive. As such, this is my 3rd time ordering this product. I like them because they ar 16 gigs which will usually hold the hi-res pictures. Also the actual drive can be protected when shipping just by flipping the metal cover over on the swivel base.My reason for 3 stars? The actual shipping took 3 days instead of the promised 2. I have ordered 2-3 times per week from Amazon for over 3 years and this is the first time the product was delayed. I was notified via email the evening of the expected delivery date. Well, I needed the drives that evening so that was an annoyance. While the shipping delay may not have been a fault of the seller, they must take some responsibility for it. Otherwise this would be a solid 4-star rating.3Complete waste of moneyI don't know how these got such great reviews. All of the ones I received were junk. Half of them had no accessible storage and were not even capable of being formatted. The other half were extremely slow, and sometimes would just stop mid transfer. Don't waste your money.1
