Customer Reviews

Quality went from hero to zero in 6 months...Update: 10/11/16The Vaultz folks reached out to me and told me that the build quality has been increased and replaced 2 of my units. I just received them and agree that the build quality is indeed better now.The drawers now fully open and close without significant resistance. The locked is higher quality and the part of the locking mechanism that's inside of the case are covered in felt like with the older units. Handles are on horizontally and the case looks pretty square. One of the two wobbles a bit (I think that one isn't quite level, will come up with some kluge to take care of that) but the other case is pretty solid. Overall this warrants increasing my rating because the build quality is now acceptable overall. Also pleased with their customer support.Original review:I'm not sure what just happened. I ordered one of these in March and it was great. Good build quality. Felt solid. And everything fit and worked like it was supposed to. Filled it up and ordered a second one which I received today... and it's terrible! The box isn't even square, the sides are crooked, and the lengths are wrong so there's a large gap between the box frame and the sliding drawer. The drawer doesn't even slide very well and it used to have felt on the inside that covered the locking mechanism so you didn't damage your discs... and that's gone too. The quality and finish of the lock also seems a lot cheaper on the second box than the first. What happened? How can a product go this bad in 6 months?I've reached out to Vault about the build quality. I'll update this review is they can provide a satisfactory explanation and conclusion to this.I was so satisfied with my first box, I'm extremely disappointed with the new one. Unbelievable! 4000 dvd's makes this the best way to store them in the paper sleevesI bought this because I buy a lot of British series TV shows on DVD that I plan to keep and either watch again or lend out. Having over 2,000 dvd's makes this the best way to store them in the paper sleeves, also made by Vaultz so my house will not look like a Blockbuster Rental Store. I also think the disc's will stay cleaner because when I opened some of my DVD case to extract them, there was seemed to be a dusty film inside some of the DVD cases. I think the paper sleeves in the confined drawers will work best. 5Overpriced storage unit that gets the job done but won't win any beauty contestsHere's the straight talk on this:Does it work? Yup. Effectively stores tons of CD's either in jewel cases or plastic sleeves. I went with the sleeves so I could accommodate my massive music collection. Is it cheaply made? Pretty much. All the complaints I've seen are fairly accurate. The drawers don't close too well - you have to jimmy them a little bit but whatever. The fake wood is cheap looking and the vinyl covering on some parts does peel off. But the black bulletproof material is pretty good. If you intend to have this out in your living room as a display piece, you might want to consider something else. If it's gonna be tucked away on a shelf in your den or basement - it'll do the trick.Would I recommend it? I guess so. I think it's overpriced by about $20 if you ask me, but unfortunately your options are limited if you want to neatly store hundreds of CDs. I have a huge wooden CD storage rack from the 90's in my basement that I'm trying to get rid of (hey, back then it was cool to display all your CD's), so really anything was going to be better than what I have. I wish they could have made it a little better or at least dropped the price, but what can you do. 3A GREAT STORAGE SYSTEMEach video production that I finish is given a number and cataloged. When I have around two hours of HD material I burn them together on a Blu-ray "M" Disc (discs made out of stone and designed to last for hundreds of years) and store them in the Vaultz Single Drawer File Cabinet. These make great back-up for the video work that I care the most about. These files are stored in a separate place from other copies for safety sake. Sturdy cabinets that do a great job of protecting valuable (to me) material. 5Near Perfect CaseThis is a great case but has one design flaw that can be made better. When the disks are loaded into the drawers, the weight makes sliding the drawers in and out sluggish. They stick and hang. What the case needs is smaller rollers on the inside for these to roll in and out, instead of sliding wood to wood. It would be worth paying extra for this upgrade. However, I did find a way to make them slide smoother. I used fine sand paper and sanded the inside rails a few times. You will see alot of black paint on your rag after doing this. That's fine. After cleaning good, I put some 3 in 1 oil on a rag and rubbed in on the rails and across the front inside lip. Now, the drawers slide much better. Also, they only give you 5 cd sleeves with this case, so order more Vaultz sleeves with this case. Good case, very happy with it otherwise. Maybe the new deluxe model will have steel wheels under the drawers. 4Nice cabinet for typical/normal sized CD storageBottom line: This is a good product, and I'd buy it again.I wanted to buy a CD storage cabinet that was sturdy, functional, and fit my needs with the amount of storage available. First, I tried one of the others offered on Amazon. When that one arrived, it was a poorly made wooden product, from China. That one had been quickly stained, and felt like it would easily break...etc, so I sent it back. The Vaultz, on the other hand, is very solid. It's only for CDs...and it has velcro dividers that work pretty well in separating sections. It quickly gave me the opportunity to organize my CD's, and the case is nice to look at. I'd recommend to other potential buyers to make sure that you know what space you're dedicating this cabinet for. Also, be aware that the Vaultz cabinet is dedicated to "typical" sized CD's....so you might not be able to fit some of the unique or special edition CD's that come in atypical sizes. I would add that there are plenty of inferior cabinet and/or storage selections to choose from on the Internet. For me, this cabinet perfectly fit my needs. 5... of the two drawer CD file cabinets and I love them and as a result expected no less form ...I have two of the two drawer CD file cabinets and I love them and as a result expected no less form the four drawer system, which was a mistake. The drawers will catch on something when I go to push them back into the cabinet and I find myself trying to push it back in three or four times before it goes in flush. I've pulled all the drawers out to see what is going on and cannot find anything I've put in there that is causing it and I am struggling to find a design reason for it. If it were only the drawer going in and out I would still give it four stars, but there is another flaw that I ran into, which almost had me give it a two star review. I noticed one of the key cylinders sticking when I would turn it and eventually it wouldn't turn at all and when I pulled the key out about three quarters of the key cylinder came with it. I've had the cabinet for more than a year now and understand that there is wear and tear that occurs and went to them hoping for some help in being able to fix it myself. I sent an email asking if they could help me out or if I could even buy a new key cylinder to replace it myself. I've heard nothing but crickets since and this was more than two months ago. Their customer service has been helpful before so I'm not sure what is happening, but If I don't hear anything in the next couple of weeks I will be dropping this down to a 2 star review.Update (two weeks later): No contact. Maybe they were bought out since I last purchased from them or contacted them...or maybe I had a fluke good experience. I no longer suggest you buy this product. For the price, there are better options out there. 2Great cabinet, but no alphabetized dividers as shown in picture...I got this to store patient's MRI CD's with the thinking I could store them alphabetically with the dividers that are shown in the picture. Rather, what you get is 6 blank white tabs that stick up that you'd need to label yourself. I looked inside the cabinet, in the bottom of the box thinking "Where are those fancy black alphabetized tabs? But there are none to be found. Instead, they include these 6 blank white tabs that you could self-label if you want, but certainly not enough for the entire alphabet. The tabs as shown are available on amazon and not very expensive, so I've ordered them, but it's annoying that it didn't come with them as the picture seemed to suggest. The cabinet itself seems great and I can lock it which is a must for patient records. But not having what's in the picture is sort of false advertising. 4I love this thing and have 3 of them! But wait for them to go on sale!So far I have 3 of these things! 1 1/2 for movies, 1/2 for tv, and 1 for anime, music, games, and misc. I have almost 700 movies alone at this time, so I obviously can't keep them in their cases cause that would take up way to much room. This helps me keeps everything organized and portable(although they can get REALLY heavy when their full!).Sometimes the fabric on the drawers can start to peel from extended use and i have to use super glue or else they're hard to push pack in. And the metal pieces eventually try to fall off too(once again super glue fixes all). They're really expensive, so I make sure to keep them on my wish-list so I can be notified when they go on sale and get them then. But overall I don't regret my purchases! A couple of my friends want one too, but they gotta buy them themselves! lol! But I went from having 3,overflowing-6ft, bookcases to having 3, not-yet-full, vaultz cases. It's a major space saver. I would definitely recommend when they're on sale! 4Perfect for Nursing homeThis was the perfect solution for a friend who lives in a nursing home where people are thieves and take his DVDs we got this and slim jewel cases which it will easily hold 50 plus of took all his movies out of original cases and put into jewel cases then into this case he can keep his key around his neck and not worry someone going to get into the box and take them without being noticed by staff. Will have to order another one soon as we keep increasing his library 5
