    Really glad I bought it - it s tiny, long-lasting, works great! OMG this was a lifesaver! I bought it as a safety light for my kayak on the river at night, but went camping and forgot it was in my bag until I got there and realized it was my only flashlight. This got me through five days of camping, miles of trekking every night through pitch black woods, with no diminishment in the light over that time period whatsoever! I also used it as a lantern in my hammock at night. It s a nice neutral white light and so tiny, that I clipped it on my waist pack zipper so I couldn t lose it. Really helpful especially when using the slit trench ;) It turned out to be almost perfect, especially since it was rainy and I didn t have to worry about it getting wet. The only things I wished was that I could point it just down sometimes so I don t blind people, and apply a red filter to keep my night vision - will plan to tape a red film on the one I will keep in my camping bag. But for the price and a variety of purposes it was a fantastic purchase. Very easy to get to flash/stop flashing too - just turn it off and back on again by twisting the cap. For one small battery it sure goes the distance. I can t wait to use it on the river! 5a kayak stern light for non motorized waterways and personal light for PFD I bought two of these for night kayaking on a local river. The river does not have motorized traffic, so the light is so that other kayakers in the group can see me. Also, one stays clipped on my life vest, so that I always have some light with me when out of the boat, and it works great for being able to see the ground for walking around.. These lights are small and convenient, perfect for my described use. I also have a brighter waterproof flashlight with a directional beam clipped in the kayak cockpit in case I need to illuminate something downstream or on the shore - like the wild horses that play in the river at night. I will buy another 2 or 4 of these so that my family members can be equipped like I am for night kayaking. 5a useful product. I carry mine in my pocket as ... Overall, a useful product. I carry mine in my pocket as part of my EDC. The dual function light (diffuse constant vs. flashing SOS) is useful. I took it camping this summer and made use of it by hanging it from a tree, where it cast a dim diffuse light over a broad area--light enough for us to navigate by. We used it more often than other lights because it is so small and pocket-portable. The AAA battery is another plus given that it is easy and inexpensive to replace. I agree with other reviewers that its light output is modest, and its cast is diffuse. Good for (rather dimly) lighting circular areas around you.*2019 update: I still carry this and find it useful, but the small loop at the base of the handle proved to be weak and broke after a year or so. This was disappointing, given that this is supposed to be a water-resistant unit that you hook to your life jacket and use in life-or-death situations out on the water, etc. I still carry mine, loose, in my pocket, and still use it occasionally, but I do wish that the makers made the loop about twice as strong. Have to fish it out of the cracks in the couch sometimes after I've been lying down playing with the kids. 4Durable, lightweight area light. Decent little light for 1AAA battery. Seems quite sturdy and water / shock resistant. It turns on by unscrewing the grey part, which means that unless the light is fully turned on the final plastic washer is not engaged, though there is an o-ring further up towards the threads that should keep it sealed while it's turned off. It puts out about the same amount of brightness as a Maglight Solitaire (LED) if you put it in candle mode, but the light is more diffused. Overall I'd say it's more durable (and larger) than the solitaire. The largest problem I have with it is a design issue. This kind of diffused light works best when used as a lantern / candle hanging from the top of your tent or sitting on a camp table. Unless there's a lug to attach a split ring to hold a carabineer type clip on the bottom. It won't stand up like a candle, you can only hang it or use it on its side. Meant to get the glow-in-the-dark one it can't hurt when looking for a black and grey flashlight in the dark! 4Junk Junk, but not worth the cost to return it. It's not "twist on/off", it's "partially unscrew the cap to turn off". So much for being waterproof. I should have known better and just gotten the Nite Ize. 1Good light for inside a tent. I bought this as a tent light, something I hang permanently and roll up with the tent. It has enough light for that, but it isn't bright enough for use as a navigation light on the water, or as a PFD light after dark. But it is a good tent light. The little carabiner is useful for hanging it. The "Glo" that is supposed to help you find the light in the dark doesn't last long enough to make that function useful in practice, so it doesn't matter whether you get the "Glo" version or one of the others that don't supposedly glow in the dark. If you turn the light on, off, and quickly on again, it blinks an S.O.S., a useless function I think, and since you're never likely to use it for sending an S.O.S., it's kind of a pain to avoid. It's just a gimmick, not something really useful. If you wait about 30 seconds between turning on/off, you can avoid the blinking. So, it makes a good light for hanging inside a tent, but not for some of the other uses suggested in the product advertising. 4The lighting diffuse is nice when using around other people Has potential, but some things are slightly concerning. I need to basically screw the top part tight to turn on the flashlight. There's no button. Thus, the top is slightly loose at all times until I need to turn it on. 2nd, It's difficult to do with one hand while wet, under stress and/or wearing gloves. I would immediately rule this out as a survival device if I need 2 free hands to use it during an emergency. Also, since the top is lose when it's turned off, I don't know how waterproof this actually is when not being used. I don't want to risk destroying this one to test it.Pros? This is the smallest flashlight I own that runs on very common batteries (AA and AAA). Everyone has these batteries lying around. It's very lightweight. The lighting diffuse is nice when using around other people. It can still blind people at night but at least it's not painfully bright. 4Five Stars Works great at night. sorry, the only pic i have is during the day.. 5Great little light for my PFD This thing is a little brighter than I expected but I don't really care for how you operate the light. You twist on once for a solid light, untwist then retwist for S.O.S. flash. Untwist and retwist for solid light again. That will get old if you need to use it multiple times. This thing would be better if it had a waterproof switch on the end that would control the power and the twist to control the flash or solid light output. The carbiner works well. Overall it's a great little light if you need a little light but don't plan on using it repeatedly. 4A lot of potential... (3.5 Stars) (3.5 Stars)I recently bought three of these for various uses. For the cost, I've found the SplashFlash to be fairly useful.I clip one to my dog's collar for night walks in town. I clip two to his harness pack for backpacking/camping in the backcountry so I can keep track of him at night. I've also clipped them to the shoulder straps of my pack. They're very useful for illuminating the inside of a large pack in low light when you're trying to find something.They're good for hanging around camp, as well. Perfect for hanging inside a tent as a lamp, or on the outside of your tent as a beacon.I plan on buying few more to add to my medical kits as emergency lighting.While I'm really enjoying the versatility of the SplashFlash, there is room for improvement (as there always is in low-cost products).It's called the SplashFlash for it's water-resistance. However, I imagine that in order to get maximum waterproof-ness that it needs to be fully screwed and tightened closed. Unfortunately, this is a twist-on light, there is no power/mode button. So, to make it water tight, it has to be powered on.The carabiner clip on the SplashFlash is the same terrible carabiner clip that UST uses on several of its products. I easily broke one within minutes of opening the packaging. These clips cannot be trusted in the least. They will need to be replaced.My only other qualm is the light output (25 lumens). While 25 lumens is good for the products in the SplashFlash's range, and for the price, I find it barely useful in some circumstances. I'd love to see a brighter version. I'd happily pay more money for it. Make a 100 lumen version with a power button and a good clip! I'll buy it! I'll buy several! Lighting tech has made leaps in the past 5 years. I carry a 255-lumen Thrunite T20 flashlight on my keychain, and it's barely bigger than a SplashFlash. The Thrunite is $23, made of aircraft aluminum, and comes with accessories and mode memory. I know, it's over three times the cost of a SplashFlash, but the Thrunite is over TEN times brighter AND made of much better materials. The lumen/build quality to cost ratio makes me think that UST could easily and cost-effectively come up with a better version of the SplashFlash. 3
