Great! All good! I bought another product to download my Scan compact flash cards for my digital camera to my rather old laptop (HP running Windows 10), but that unit was a real disappointment from the start and so returned it the next day--being very appreciative of Amazon.com's return policy. I then bought this unit, which ironically was cheaper than the first unit I bought. Very impressive little unit. Like the aluminum body--the other unit was plastic. Like very much the tightness of the fit in putting my compact flash card into this unit--tight being a good thing so it slides in and squarely lines up with the pins. Like that about half the card is inserted leaving the other half exposed--both securely in the slot but also easy to remove.This is a very nice unit. I would certainly highly recommend. Great! And the price is pretty great too. The unit was immediately recognized by my laptop and no issues whatsoever in doing the download from card to PC. 5A waste of money Do not buy this product. It worked for a few months and then stopped working. i have tried to contact the seller several times, and they answered once and told me there was a two year warranty, but then have never responded to another message. A waste of money. 1If You Need A Card Reader - Hard to Go Wrong With This One I take a lot of pictures and videos and have been uploading to my PC via cable at USB 2.0 speed. Many pros advise using USB 3 because of the speed advantage but most cameras only provide 2.0 capability. One answer is a 3.0 card reader, although it adds some time to the process to remove the card from your camera and insert in the card reader/return to the camera. However, the speed advantage is significant, particularly if you have a lot of pictures/videos.The UNITEK reader is attractive (and not plastic) and performed flawlessly for me in Windows 10. Non-removable USB cable a bit short and you need to insert your card upside down. However, given the price, performance, and attractive appearance, a great deal for anyone needing a card reader. 5Nice CF card reader at a fair price I bought this reader to get some pictures off of some old CF cards. Plugged it into computer first and worked great. Got all my old pics downloaded. Then tried it directly to my phone (Gal S4). Again, perfect fast transfer. Inexpensive investment to get back old pictures. All of the other slots worked as well. Feels solidly put together. I little higher price than I would have wanted to pay, but I couldn't find another comparable CF reader. And it seems worth the price. It did get to me fast. Overall I'm happy with the purchase. 4Was Good (UPDATE) I've used the card a few times, testing with SD cards, and it was good in the beginning. I recently, 2 days ago, bought my first CF card for my D800 and now the card reader disconnects from my Mac within 3 seconds of being read so I get the disconnect message all the time, if it will read it. No longer works with the SD cards either and I purchased it early March so I'm outside the return window.If you get it, have a back up reader, I'm stuck with a wedding on the CF card until I make it to Best Buy.[UPDATE]After seeing my review, the company reached out to me and were willing to ship me another reader to replace the faulty one. They contacted me frequently to see how the testing was going with the new one and so far, I haven't had any issues. I've updated from 2 to 4 stars because of their service and the fact that the new one continues to work. I will keep my fingers crossed. 4This is one of the few adapters that works - apple product user I purchased another one that adapts to iPhone, misc apple products, as well as, android, and it did NOT sync. I returned that one and bought this one to sync with my laptop with memory cards from Stealth Cameras. FINALLY, it works. If it doesn't, check that your memory card isn't corrupt first. I also found that to be an issue with SanDisk Memory Cards. So many pieces dtysfunctioning to work out but this reader WORKS consistently. The other reader didn't even read to my devices at times. It was hit or miss, but mostly miss. 5If you have a Nikon Camera, you probably need this unit. I bought this unit to transfer photos and videos I made with my new Nikon camera. The latest versions of Nikons do not have the proper software to convert the NEF (Camera Raw) images into a format that allows the images to be processed in Photoshop or Lightroom. It seems the Nikon transfer software corrupts those file so they are not usable any more. This creates a situation where it is possible to actually lose many of your prized photos. This unit allows me to safely insert my SIM card into the unit, and have the images appear in a folder on my computer's desktop. I then open a file called "Adobe DNG Converter" (freely available on the internet), and convert the corrupted NEF files to DNG files, which Lightroom and Photoshop understand. I have not lost a photo since!!! If you have a Nikon camera, you probably need this unit! 5Definitely a great buy! The only thing that would be nice ... Definitely a great buy! The only thing that would be nice would be if you could use a SD card and CF card at the same time. If you insert a second card it "ejects" from the computer. But none the less it's still a great buy. The metal and components feel great too! 5I purchased this about a year ago and have used ... I purchased this about a year ago and have used it often. But yesterday I tried to use it and download a full days worth of shooting and it said there were no files. I thought now how in the world did I delete my files? I put my memory card back in my camera and it said "no image". So today I went out again and did a full days shooting and tried the card reader again thinking it had been my mistake the previous day. Nope. The card reader deleted all of my files once again. I have no idea how this happened. I tried another card to see if the memory card was at fault. Nope. This Unitek card reader deleted them too. 1As an add-on to what I like with this device I bought this compact flash connector because the USB 3.0 connector is directly connected/attached to the device instead of using a USB connector where the connection to the device will become loose in time. As an add-on to what I like with this device, the black finish is matte balck and not shiny which means that fingerprints and scratches will not be noticeable. Lastly, I bought this device as a recommendation from one of the Internet Photography sites where it is the number #1 choice for combined compact flash and SD card readers. 5
