solved a couple of probemsThe front of the computer had a missing blank making it look like a monster with an open mouth. This fits the opening and makes the front look nice again. The USB ports were needed to plug in the printer. The USB cable was not long enough to reach the back of the computer. The audio out made it simple to plug in the speakers. Again, the sound comes from in front of the computer instead of behind. Installing was simple and quick. Just slide the device into the opening, and string the wires down to the motherboard.5USB 2.0 ports don't work; mounting holes are mis-alignedI was looking forward to this addition to my home-built machine. Unfortunately, I have ended up returning it.1. The unit I received was obviously a returned unit, as the mounting screw holes were cross-threaded on one side, and the side plates (where the screw holes are) were scratched/scored. In spite of this I thought I'd give it a try. I can't fault the guy who returned this thing - the mounting holes are at least 1/16" off (too high). After some finagling I did manage to get the thing mounted.2. The USB 2.0 ports did not work. I know I had them connected properly (it's pretty difficult NOT to). The USB 3.0 ports worked fine.At this point I decided that it's not worth messing with this thing any longer, so am returning it.I hope your experience with this unit is better than mine.1The UECC 5.25 front panel quality was outstanding and it worked as expected.The UCEC 5.25 front panel USB hub: I was surprised the metal frame, the connectors, and the cabling were all better than expected. It also worked well (Crystal Mark gave me same reading for front panel hub as it did for my ASUS MOBO Asmedia USB3 and USB2 (seq read 145MB/s and 43MB/s) The HD header work fine. The supplied cables were long to fit anywhere in my chassis (better long than too short). Only con was I had to use the supplied screws to mount onto the rail, I usually use the rail toggle fasteners. Of course no instructions, but cables only fit where they are supposed to.5Worked great for a few months. Then problems.It fit and looked fine on the front panel of a recent PC build up. That's the good part.But you will find that the cables provided are too short to connect to the headers if it is a standard size ATX MB. Had to go out and purchase longer cables to get this thing connected as needed.It worked great for a while, but then I started getting USB connection errors. The panel has 4 - USB jacks, so I switched to another one, and all was then fine. One by one, other jacks started having the same errors.At this point all but one of the USB-2 jacks have these conectivity errors, and I am in the process of replacing the panel. The problem? apparently junk quality USB jacks used in manufacturing the panel.Advice? Don't even think about buying front panels from this panel maker. They apparently do not understand how to produce quality products.2Exactly what I needed to update an old PC case to USB3 with front audioThis device was quick and easy to set up, but with no instructions (which didn't really matter). It connects to an HD audio header on the motherboard, as well and USB2 and USB3 headers. Setup was quick, and the cables were surprisingly long, much longer than needed for my mid-tower, probably 24" - 30" (sorry, didn't measure at the time).There is a 4 pin Molex female connector on this device. I didn't have any extra male plugs, so I didn't connect it. Not sure what it's for, but everything works fine without it. Maybe it's for extra power over the USB ports? For that reason I wish there was some documentation, but I'm over it now. Everything works fine.5Poor QualityThey made the USB port so we can plug & play devices without shutting down our computers.They do get used often, I myself use several microphones and midi's for recording purposes and after a few years the USB front ports of my high dollar rig are worn out,,I seen several selling for $10 and under and I figured spending a little more would give me a better quality product.I predict having to get a new front USB port panel within a year, but this unit as of now is working perfect and it was easy to install.2Tight Fit! But it works...I use my front panel USB ports so much, they had become loose with wear. I decided to replace them. I ordered this because it was cheap and had good reviews. It fit my ancient half-tower case drive bay so tightly that I had to pound it into place with the heel of my hand. The mounting screw holes were off-center a bit but I made them fit by sheer elbow power and a big screwdriver. The cables that came with this were plenty long and mated fine with USB 2.0, USB 3.0, and audio jacks on the main board. I buttoned everything up and tested all the ports. This gadget works fine. Hope it is durable.5Excellent solution to add usb ports on a computerExcellent solution to add usb ports on a computer. The front panel fits in a 5.5 inch drive bay. The panel is made of all aluminum and metal. Very well made. The cables are a good length . Many reviews state they are too long. Well better a little long than too short. USB drives slide into ports nicely.5Works and fastThe USB 2.0 and USB 3.0 ports work fine. The mic/headphone ports work fine. Installation is a pain. The screw holes on the top aren't perfectly lined up for you standard 5.25" bay. The device is very "short" so only the front screws/screw holes are available. Makes installation a pain, but once in the ports work as they should. You will need an open USB 3 pinned port on your mobo. If you don't know what that is, then you probably aren't buying this.5East to install, butThe adapter was easy to instal, but the side flanges that you screw into for your mount into a 3 1/2 inch mount [like a floppy spot] aren't long enough to use 4 screws to securely fasten it down. With my case, I was only able to use 1 of the premade screw holes to mount it and had to make my own on the other side. Your case may be different from mine. Next time I get one of these, I think I'd get one with a metal frame rather than the plactic that comes with this one, more mounting options. Other than that, it worked well.5
