    Indispensible networking tool Indispensable, have used it to test countless port connections and cables. Has everything you need 5Reliable & well-designed. Love this tool. Nice design. Easy to work with. Good quality build. I own two units. Changing battery on the probe is a little difficult as you need a screwdriver (for both units). Always carry extra 9-Volt batteries and screwdriver in your case. Battery life is long but you never want to be caught off guard! 5Unreliable, needs feature changes. Ehh. As an IT pro I was looking for something small so I didn't have to haul around my big $600 unit in my small tool bag.Unfortunately this tone/test unit has been buggy. I'll clip it into a phone or data system and sometimes it works, sometimes it powers down entirely, or will become unresponsive until I disconnect it. Also wish it had a dedicated phone port and a coaxial connector instead of the security camera BNC tester. 3but I wouldn't recommend this tool if AC detections your PRIMARY function The cable test function works flawlessly, as does the tone probe. The AC sensor is extremely disappointing. It works, but I wouldn't recommend this tool if AC detections your PRIMARY function. get a real AC Detector. 4This product seemed to work in every aspect other than ... This product seemed to work in every aspect other than the actual tone tracer. I work in a school system and some of these school are very old and were not built with internet systems in mind. Lots of time, the racks I see are not labeled properly, which is actually the reason I went out and bought this device. The beeping only seems to really go off if you're practically touching the end of the wire you are tracing. It doesn't work at all with ethernet sockets. And if you are looking for the corresponding patch panel socket from a wall jack in another room, you might as well give up, because you are not going to get a signal at all. This fault in the tool made a lot of the jobs I needed it for unable to be done.
