A good minimalist handled bag for MacBook Pro 15" (2016)I wanted a new bag for my MacBook Pro (15" Retina w/Touch Bar) that wasn't bulky, but had capability of including essential accessories. After measuring my computer, and checking the interior sizes of lots of cases, I decided on this one (the 14" version is a perfect fit for the 15" MacBook Pro). It just arrived, and I am happy with it. It's not luxurious for the price obviously, but it is respectable enough, and elegantly functional.I was concerned about the opening being on the bottom of the case, that it could slip out...you can side-load your computer if you like, and the zipper pulls can be located to the top of the bag. Because it's so slim, having the zipper work as it does is necessary to get the handle on here, which was important to me. I can live with this; and after getting the bag, I am OK with the zipper opening as it does. The interior is a soft padded material, and should provide adequate protection for gentle use.The outside accessory pocket has very nice elastic straps that have non-slip grip material included in the elastic, which is a nice touch. Things stay put where you place them. There is plenty of room for the power cord and plug, a Magic Mouse, and a dongle or two; it also has other slots in the fabric for things like business cards, pens, etc.5Perfect for the surface pro.Perfect for surface. I was looking for something not very bulky but that would fit cords and other accessories. This is perfect. I love it. Great quality too.5the best. i couldn't be happier. I've searched amd searched for the perfect soft case thin but super protective bag. this is it. next up would be a hard case. This case cushions all around all sides. I've even sat my laptop down a little less than gently and didn't cringe. It's also thin enough too take in my already thin Crystalyn Kae work bag and i still have room! Also, the handle isn't leather and it's nice and sturdy! perfect for vegans.UPDATE: It's been several weeks and I still love it ! It has now traveled w/ me by plane once and no issues. I wanted to make a comment about the most negative comments I have read which is regarding the zipper. First of all, it's obvious where the zippers are. It is essentially "backwards" but in my mind easy to note and remember, "zippers are here not HERE". I think some reviewers have noted that their laptop has fallen out because they forgot to zip it and assumed picking it up by the handle was all they needed to do. First of all, who puts their laptop in it's case and doesn't zip it immediately even if you're going nowhere? Also, when I zip or unzip it, I am at a flat surface...so I am not clear why the laptop falls out and even If you're standing w/ it - you have complete control and are actively knowing where the zippers are. POINT: DON'T let the zipper comments deter you. 5Check the sizes - this is only for the NEW Macbook AirI didn't pay attention to the sizes and had to return this and order the larger one for my older Mackbook Air. It's a good bag tho, solid and well cushioned on the corners and sides and I like the vertical opening so I can put it vertically in my carryon bag and just slide it out to work while in flight without having to remove the entire case. Love the pocket in front too for holding the power cord and other USB charging cords.5Love this tiny little case. This is the cutest little briefcase I've ever seen. My 13" Apple MacBook Air fits in it like a glove, even with a hardshell case on it. The Tomtoc carrying case is tight and well padded, keeping my MacBook Air nice and secure. I have dropped the case with my computer in it a couple of times without any impact at all. The Tomtoc case only opens on one side, making it easy to slip your MacBook in and out, without the risk that your computer will slip out on its own. I also love the front pocket with a lot of carrying space for cords, a phone, accessories, pens, pad of paper, you name it. The whole Tomtoc case fits easily in my shoulder tote, making it a cinch to take my laptop with me wherever I go.5Updated !! Got a quick replacement.Updated review !! Tomtoc was very responsive, sent me a free replacement fast. I am updating my rating accordingly. Maybe the first piece was a off-chance defect. The product looked awesome, and worked well for the first month. Now the bag is coming apart, and I am a light user. The outside pocket has all the seams coming out, the inner lining and foam is out. Attaching pic, This is unacceptable in 3 months.4Love it, highly recommend it, especially for students. I love this bag.I bought this bag for two reasons, the padded corners to protect both my laptop and the zipper on the bag, and the side zipper. I have bought two laptop sleeves previously, and they both broke, one immediately, the other after a month. With my previous sleeves, both zippers split at the corners and hit my laptop every time I closed them. I Love The SIDE zipper. I feel confident carrying my laptop. Even if it were to split, I would have a half second to catch my laptop as it slid out.FOR ALL STUDENTS: since the sleeve opens on the side, if one were to carry laptop in the sleeve in a backpack, the laptop can slide out of the sleeve easily while in the backpack. One does NOT have to remove the entire sleeve from the backpack to take out/put in the laptop. The handle on the sleeve feels secure and can also handle the weight of my laptop and an overstuffed pocket full of other gadgets and chargers.A negative aspect of the sleeve is the zipper on the bag seems more likely to break than the zipper the actual laptop holding area. Also, I bought this sleeve for my 15.7 gaming laptop, and when zipping the bag, I have to pull up the padded corners around my laptop, because it just barely fits. I wish i had a quarter of an inch more space onside, so my laptop could just slid in.I would highly recommend this product, and forgo the sleeves that don't have handles, and open on the bottom. 5I feel like the handle is sturdy I read another review about the zipper positioning. I have mixed feelings about that.Yes, it's a little weird to place it on the bottom, but if a zipper is going to fail, it won't matter where the handle is, stuff zipped on 3 sides will fall out.I stick this sleeve with my laptop in another bag with my other stuff anyhow. But it is a bit odd and wonky. The two zippered compartments are opposite, so often I am dumping stuff out of the top when I flip back the flap if I forget it's unzipped. But also, I feel like the handle is sturdy, and it would not feel like that if it was on one side of a zipper. It is sturdy and attractive. It's very nicely finished with soft plush velour surfaces on all the interior. It fits my 2005 17" macbook pro exactly right. I do have to tuck the padded ridge all around before I zip, and, it's snug zipping around the corners.I keep 2 spare batteries in the front pouch with the power cord.I would actually give 4.5 stars. It is very attractive and well made. Ive never used a laptop sleeve before, though, maybe they are all a little wonky. But it's worth it for the low cost of such a quality item. I feel my computer is well protected. 4PERFECT sleeve/case for my HP Spectre x360 15.6" laptop and accessories! This case is PERFECT for my new 15.6" HP Spectre x360 2-in-1 laptop and accessories with plenty of room to spare! That being said, the first one I received was both the wrong color (black instead of blue black) and was the old model with the zipper running all the way around instead of down just the one side. I sent it back and contacted Amazon about it and they made sure the right one was sent to me after placing the second order. Now that I have what I ordered, I love it!This was my criteria for a case:- Fits my 15.6" laptop without having to squeeze. CHECK! As you can see from the pictures, it's plenty roomy inside the sleeve without being way too big and loose. The laptop doesn't jostle around once it's in there.- Has enough space to carry my mouse, laptop charger, an external SSD housing and some misc cables and flash cards/drives. CHECK! Again, as you can see it has no trouble accommodating all of that stuff in the front pocket. It's nice and snug when zipped up but definitely all fits just fine!- Thin and light weight enough to fit inside and carry in my backpack. CHECK! See how well it fits inside my Thule backpack's rear compartment with some bose headphones, a powerbank and some additional stuff like my wallet and another external drive in a case. It zips up over the laptop sleeve no problem!- Well made, sturdy and protective. CHECK! For not being very bulky at all, I feel very secure about carrying my laptop and accessories around in just this sleeve without having to put it inside another bag. I feel like it would protect the laptop from a waist high drop and CERTAINLY the soft, plush interior protects it from scratches! While it isn't water proof, it IS water resistant which is all I need. Over the weekend I walked from my car to the University library with it while it was snowing pretty hard and the snow flakes melted and ran right off it no problem. The carry handle is very comfortable and well made and slides down and stays out of the way when not in use. The materials used feel very high quality all around.- Priced reasonably. CHECK! For what you get I think the price of this sleeve is more than fair.So aside from my initial problem with the receiving the older model in the wrong color, I have been extremely pleased with this case/sleeve since the correct one arrived. I can highly recommend it! And yes, I paid full price for it. Hope this helps! 4Not as described, but that may be a good thing. I literally JUST received this item a few minutes ago and rushed to insert my laptop inside. I have a 15.6 inch HP laptop and it fits perfectly. Exterior material is a bit more wrinkled than what is pictured, but that doesn't bother me too much. Interior is nice and soft. The most surprising aspect was that the main compartment zipper does NOT open 180 degrees! It opens only from one side (right if you are looking at it head on with the tomtoc brand displayed) and you must slide your laptop inside rather than lay it in like shown in the picture. I have not seen anyone else report this, but upon looking through the reviews, I noticed that the 180 degree design has proven to be rather problematic for others in that it increases the risk of your laptop falling out (yikes). Not sure if this was an intentional "fix" to that problem or not, but I think it is something people should be aware of regardless. Other than that misleading claim, I am happy with it for now and plan to keep using it.*UPDATE: Tomtoc reached out to me and verified that the location change for the zipper was indeed to fix the issue of laptops falling out. They apologized and even issued me a partial refund for the inconvenience! Excellent customer service! 5Does NOT fit surface book 2 15 inch On the Q&A pages of multiple Tomtoc products, there is an answer to a question asking about this product's comparability to surface book 2 15 inch. This specific product (in this specific color) is referenced in multiple answers as the updated version that will fit surface book 2 15 inch. I must say that this case unfortunately DOES NOT fit surface book 2 15 inch.I like the case material, design, and color. But if it does not fit surface book 2 15 inch, why direct consumers to this product? I feel fooled. 1Fit HP Spectre 15.6" PERFECTLY I am very picky about my work and laptop bags. I like a clean, streamlined style not something bulky, busy and without a bunch of different sized exterior pockets. Thus I like one outer pocket that has two multiple interior pockets to hold a large cell phone, work badge, a compact or small wallet, cell charger, stylus, etc. The opposite side a snug 1.5" elastic band that is has three 5" wide sections. It holds the USB C laptop battery and cord, the wall plug cord extension and does not have a protruding bulkiness when zipped closed. I hate that. I do like the feature that it does not zip all around to minimize it accidentally falling out while taking it in and out of the case. That can help prevent the machine falling to the floor if you have a butterfingers moment. The interior laptop compartment is soft and well padded. The surrounding interior border, including the corners, is thick. The exterior pocket is more padded more thinly, but sufficient to protect the laptop battery. The 15.6" HP Spectre slides in easily with a about 1.25" of room horizontally. Vertically, there is about an index finger width of space to between the edge of the machine and the top of the interior. With the OEM sleeve on it is completely snug with no space gaps. I was surprised that it accommodated the laptop in this sleeve with a fold over closure. In my opinion the inside is padded well enough that any interior movement will not be an issue.I did mist the bag with a water from a spray bottle while writing the review. The water did bead up and roll downwards. The dampness never penetrated to the interior and no longer felt wet to the hand in fifteen minutes or so.The material appears to be durable and constructed well. I'll see how the seams and handle hold up over time. I purchased the black bag myself at full price and is an independent customer review. 5Best Protection for Surface Pro 4This is a great protective sleeve for your Surface Pro 4, it's the best one out there by far.Pros:-Carrying handle makes it easy to hold,-It's not just a sleeve, it'a full on-briefcase for storing anything else you might need for your Surface. It has plenty of room for the Surface Pen, a real pen, the charger, a USB charger for your phone that you can plug into the same power brick that the Surface uses (one of the smartest things I've seen Microsoft do in a while), a notebook, a bluetooth mouse, and some headphones.-Padding inside the zipper makes for a well-protected carrying pouch. There is a barrier of soft padding inside the zipper that completely surrounds the Surface Pro 4, it's easy to unzip just one side of the sleeve and slide in the surface and it gets surrounded and protected.-It's Spill Resistant. Actually just recently tried this (by accident) in an airport before security. I had to get rid of my water and happened to spill some after I placed my Surface in this sleeve on the ground. The water just rolled right off, and my device and other items were fine. Very impressed.-Build quality is extremely high. This feels sturdy, it's a product that I don't think I'll be replacing anytime soon, and you'd be hard pressed to find something build this nicely.Cons:-The only con I can think of is the very tight straps inside the pouch for other items, it's difficult to fit things inside the stretching straps. It's a good thing as well, since it keeps things tight. This is a fantastic product. If you're looking for the best protection for your Surface Pro 4, this is it.5PerfectI ve had this about a few months now and it has kept up well. My Thinkpad T480 fits perfectly in it, and it s nice to finally have an outside pouch to carry my charger in. Never thought I d use the handle when I bought this but now it s all I use when I carry it, and it s held up well. My Thinkpad has fallen in this twice already with no damage, though the falls weren t big. The inside is a nice plush interior that is nicer than other cases I ve had.Since water resistance is a rating on here, I thought I d share my experience. I took this to Kenya with me and had it in my backpack (Swissgear) and when I got out of the airport it rained like I d never seen before. EVERYTHING in my backpack was damp from that but my Thinkpad was fine. I would suggest you have it zipper side down though, I think some moisture made it through the zipper to one part of my laptop but it was just slight dampness in one spot by the zipper. The rain was unspeakable though, it made southern US rains seem mild.Another time I was walking with it in another bad, but not as extreme rain in Kenya and I tried to protect it under my very thin coat as much as possible. The outer case got wet after 15 minutes of being hammered with rain but my laptop wasn t damp at all. I think the zipper is the weak point for moisture entry5Great quality, lightweight but oh no...I really like TomToc products; great quality and protection on those pesky corners. That's mainly why I got this item; my Surface Pro case from before had no real protection on those corners and of course, one drop and it hit right there. It tore clear through the case and my tablet was dinged. Thankfully it was cosmetic and nothing happened to the screen.Anyway, this product is of great quality and protection but, I have to admit, I'm really disappointed. The description and pictures online don't really show how the main compartment zipper is set up. When you look at the case from the front and the sub-compartment is facing you, the main compartment zipper is on the right side....and only on that side. This is a SMALL opening for my Surface Pro w/keyboard to slip in without a bit of a struggle. It does NOT zip/unzip all the way around or even half the way around. How safe is my tablet if I can't even slip it in or out easily? Once in, the Surface Pro fits fine, but I don't want to have to struggle to get it in or out. I need a case in which it's easy to slip in the tablet and get it out without effort and worrying that I may drop it as I struggle with it. That's a problem I have already with it's old carrying case. Also, by itself, the Surface Pro with keyboard fits but cannot fit a Surface Pro in a folio case...that zipper opening just isn't meant to be pried open that much. After much effort I did manage to get it in with a folio case on but it wouldn't zip shut...it stuck out too much.I'll stick with this since I am in need but to recommend this to anyone, nope...keep shopping. Maybe TomToc will produce a different product that's easier to work with.3Outstanding case I purchased this case for my new MacBook Pro. Now I have a case, but no laptop as they are still back ordered. This is a quality product. I purchased the grey case and the fabric on the outside is really nice. The grey color is very rich looking and compliments both the silver and dark gray MacBooks. The inside fabric appears to be a plush microfiber and will do a great job in keeping scratches off your laptop. The outside pocket is large and has several elastic bands to organize pens, cables and other stuff. They used good quality zippers on both the case and pocket and they open and close smoothly and without binding. I really like how they constructed the main case with a raised and padded lip. This means that the zipper, when closed is backed by the padding to further protect your laptop from damage. Everything is stitched well and there were no loose threads. The padding is nice and firm and should be able to take a few bumps without damaging your laptop. I can't say how well this will hold up over time, since I haven't used it yet. However, given the excellent quality construction and materials, I expect it to outlast my laptop. For those of you who care this case is labeled as made in China.I didn't receive any compensation for this review and it is based on my unbiased opinion 5Surface Pro does not fitI bought this and read in the reviews that it would fit a surface pro laptop and it does not fit. I had to take it as is because I ordered too late before I went on business trip. Other than that the case is a made well to with stand beating traveling.1I can't recommend this case more.I never leave reviews for anything but I felt like I needed to write a review for this. This case is flawless. Every part of it is made out of great material. The handle is extremely sturdy and retracts in and out of the top to show that it has a little give and also to lay flat when not being held, the zippers are made out of a really strong metal, the straps on the inside of the front pocket hold the charger and stylus for the Surface Pro 3/4 very well and have rubber on them to prevent things from slipping out, and the inside of the actual case is made out of very soft fur-like material that completely cushions your device. Another thing that I liked is that there is a hard plastic piece between the inside of the front pocket and the inside of the whole case; I like this because if i stick chargers and cables and flash drives etc into the front pocket it won't bump through to the inside where my surface pro is being held.Overall I'm extremely satisfied with this case and I'm really happy I chose this over the others I was considering.5
