    Testo Digital Humidity Stick Great product. I wish I had known about Testo sooner. this product is very useful for people in the HVAC business. 5great response time I have an older version of this which was somewhat cheaper. It has a good response time (<5 seconds) which is enough for most HVAC applications. Quite robust, too, for HVAC-relevant ranges I've tested (from 5% to 95%). Even used it for testing drying of chemical reagents (<1%), but I would not trust those numbers, just a ballpark. The stick design is very practical. 5Five Stars Worked like a charm. 5um I use this thermometer every single day for work. I don't have a choice. Here are the reasons I don't like this thermometer and if they would correct the mentioned items, I would love it.1 The bottom cap falls off too easily and when it's inside of a package furnace duct, good luck getting it out.2 It always starts out in humidity % display. You have to always reselect the temp reading you wish to see.3 The display forces you to jog between hum, dry and wet readings- why not show them at the same time?4 The auto shut off is too fast. You constantly need to repower the unit and go through the hassle mentioned in point #2.5 It's too large to fit in a register grill with out forcing it or prying the metal apart. Just make it a little smaller diameter to fit.6 When you turn it on, if you try to toggle the display to where you want it too quickly, it turns off again- ugh.7 There's no magnet around the base head to help hold in a register grill in a ceiling or in a vertical duct hole.8 A beep would be nice to indicate that the temp has stabilized, so you don't have to stare at it.9 It *seems* to take (I have not timed it) 90-120 seconds to acclimate between readings from one area to another (think return temp and supply temp). Laying in a swampy, cat urine infested 28 inch high crawl hole under a house isn't fun and the faster you can get measurements and leave, the better.10 Make these so you can put them in the duct and display on a remote display so you can monitor two at the same place and time.What I like:It seems to be consistent and accurate enough for calculating enthalpy, which is what I do.I'm not bashing the tool, but for the price, it would seem reasonable to include these changes, many of which would be at no cost. Manufacturers today are so blind- they are focused only on their product and what it's meant to do. They completely miss the mark by ignoring HOW people will use their tool, regardless of their intent. My point is that crescent wrenches are for tightening nuts- but we use them to hammer on things. So too as in this case they should think about the conditions in which we use the thermometer and make our life easier. And yes, I would pay a premium price if they did that. Right now it seems to me to be a premium priced tool that barely meets the minimum requirements. When that happens I'm in the market for a competing tool. 2A very reasonable alternative to the wet bulb thermometer This is an amazing little instrument. I was looking for a replacement for my wet bulb thermometer which kept getting broken by successive generations of grandchildren and this seemed like a reasonable alternative. It is amazingly accurate and VERY convenient. Now the grandchildren have no interest in it! A little pricey, but if you have to get a new wet bulb thermometer every 3-5 years, it will be paid for by the second thermometer. I think it is designed more for air conditioning use, but works well for those interested in determining the relative humidity in their home workplace or the out of doors. 5One Star wasted my money. 1Five Stars HVAC guys, it's a must have 5Not impressed with durability Back started falling off within half a month of recieving it. After it coming off several times and putting it back on, the plastic chipped and now it won't stay on at all. I like the size of the equipment and seems accurate, but it also takes what seems like forever for the readings to level out. If it wasn't for the battery cover, it would be a great tool. 1Three Stars AA++ 3Wasted money, poor product and even Worse Company I purchased six of these for the technicians at our air conditioning company and one for myself. The battery compartment cover falls off very easily. We have lost three in just a short time. I contacted Testo about the issue and to see if they would send us a replacement cover for the ones that were missing. I will not be purchasing any more Testo products after dealing with Testo. 1
