It works great! The audio and video are exactly as expected I have this between my AppleTV (with the tablet-y remote) and my "How on Earth does this still run" component-only 720p TV from 2000ish. It works great! The audio and video are exactly as expected, and it hasn't shouted at me over any HDMI protection scheme stuff. Of course I mostly use the Apple TV to watch baseball which might not have those extra security things on.The problem is that they put something this size in a space where they expected a nice, little, narrow HDMI cable. So putting the audio out port at a right angle means it wants to come out right where, say, a power cable wants to be. I solved this by using a right-angle adapter for the audio, but a better solution would be to pick up a very short HDMI extension to go between this and the target device. 5Excellent solution for enabling the connection of an external monitor with VGA ports to a computer's HDMI port I had my laptop hooked up to an external monitor using a VGA cable but the plug was always loose against the side of my laptop (no holes for the two screws on the plug to make a tight connection), causing the screen colors to change all the time. I looked into options for a HDMI to VGA adapter so I could plug the end of my VGA cable into an HDMI to VGA adapter, then connect to the HDMI port on my laptop. I thought this item was the best out of the ones I searched on Amazon and it was fairly portable. After plugging the VGA cable into the adapter, then plugging the HDMI end into my laptop, I now have a perfectly stable connection to my external monitor. I would definitely recommend this item for this purpose. 5Not worth the effort I thought this might do the trick for hooking up my Playstation to a monitor. It lasted about 2 hours and quit working. A very loud buzz starting coming through the audio out and that was all she wrote. I ended up getting a HDMI to VGA cable that worked perfectly fine. You can then use the Playstation cable with the coaxial cables and use an adaptor with a coxial to 1/8 for the sound.Gimmicky audio adaptors like this never seem to work that well. At least in my experience. 1Solidly built form factor. Worked for my Xbox One. I have just received my adapter and plugged it into the back of my Xbox One and have verified that the video and audio worked. I am connecting my Xbox to a computer monitor that doesn't have HDMI in and I'm using small computer speakers. So my concern isn't about best video/audio quality. Although both are adequate for my particular needs.My concern was if the form factor would fit into the HDMI out port that is located next to the large power connector. I can report that it fits perfectly/securely and has plenty of room for the VGA adapter to plug into it and not disturb the power connector. I can say that the form factor for this is solidly built. It also comes with a male-to-male 3.5mm audio cable that is about 3ft (1m) long (that I didn't use in the photo). 5Just Works I had an old PC flatscreen monitor, and a BluRay player that was just lying around gathering dust. The monitor was old enough, it only had the VGA input. And a powered stereo speaker, of course.So for $10 and some "found treasure", I created a small, one-person BluRay player setup-- perfect for the top of a desk, or in my case, a workplace viewer of movies (to check for defective discs, and when there was nothing else going on-- a fairly frequent event, in the mornings). Works for DVDs too, obviously.So I ordered this gizmo, and it was dirt simple to use: Plug into the back of the BluRay player, plug the monitor's VGA cable into the gizmo, and plug a male-to-male patch cable between the gizmo and the powered speaker.Turn everything on? *boom* Picture and sound. Pop in a movie? It's playing, no fuss, no complicated configuring- it just works.More than good enough, and superior to any small form-factor TV I could purchase; for some reason makers of TVs seem to think that small form-factor means "super low quality". My PC monitor is a true 1080p, in spite of being only a VGA input. You simply cannot get a TV this small, with this level of picture quality anymore.I also love that I re-purposed old equipment that otherwise would have been trash. I use it every day so I can connect a secondary monitor to my laptop. My laptop is new and only has an HDMI cable, but the monitor my dad gifted to me only has VGA. This little device meant that I could use the older monitor and save quite a bit versus buying a whole new monitor. It's very handy and only takes up a little bit of space on my desk. It is easy to plug in and take out, though, so my laptop is still portable. 5Converted old monitor into Roku streaming stick Viewer I like to watch videos while on my home treadmill, unfortunately I do so by using my cell phone. Looking down while walking hurts my neck over time. Just wanted to have something that allows me to look straight on. I had an old LED monitor from my desktop computing days and wanted to plug a Roku stick into it. The monitor didnt have built in speakers or an audio out jack. Fortunately I found this little device. It allowed me to plug into the newest Roku stick, send the video to the monitor and the audio out through a headphone jack, which I pluged my old computer speakers into.. 5great converter in small form factor I'm using this to convert HDMI from and Apple TV to VGA into an older Projector for my kids play room. The audio output on it allows stereo audio to be sent to whatever amplified speakers you want. I'm using a $30 dollar computer speaker with subwoofer.Honestly, have had no issues with video or audio through this and my kids are quite happy too! 5Works Flawlessly, who would have thought ... Can't believe this thing really worked. There is no passive way to convert HDMI to VGA, you need a chip to do it. This little gem works flawlessly. It must use the +5v from one of the HDMI pins to power the conversion chip. The form factor is so small. it's incredible. I just added a very short M-F HDMI pigtail to create a dongle, and it works flawlessly, without putting a lot of side thrust on the HDMI connector in your laptop. I use this device as a bridge when interconnecting into older VGA display systems with HDMI output from a laptop. Wish it worked the other way, too, but that would be asking for the impossible. If you will ever need to connect HDMI sources to a VGA sink, you will never come across a more elegant solution. I couldn't be more tickled!! 5It works great with my 19in Dell monitor It works great with my 19in Dell monitor. I use it on Raspberry Pi 2 board. Don't want to buy a new TV or monitor. I have a Dell 19in monitor purchased with Dell Desktop more than 10 years ago. I like to use it for my Raspberry Pi 2. Since it only has VGA connector, I purchased this converter. It does not work at first. I searched internet and find I need to set HDMI group and mode correctly. After I did that, it works. I am so glad that I could reuse my old gear.This converter has HDMI audo plug. The sound is not as good as my desktop computer. However, I tried the audio jack on board and it is much worse. So I think the problem is my board. The converter is good.I recommend this product to guys who want to reuse old monitor. 5
