Customer Reviews

Easy and clean application. Why did I give this product a good review and the competing "amFilm iPad 9.7 Screen Protector" a bad review? It's all in the application process. This product has an easy and (nearly) bubble free application and the other one doesn't.This product comes in a two pack with a small plastic squeegee, some dust pickup tapes and a cleaning rag. I didn't use the tape nor the rag. Instead I used a series of three dust free moist lens cleaning wipes to get all the dust off. Specifically I used Welby brand wipes, which come in a box of 100, so there is no need to skimp on wiping. Once the screen was clean and dry I just followed directions to put on the protector in the usual way.The difference in this application system and the other is:This application system has simple cardboard packaging which minimizes static electricity charging The other packaging has a bunch of foam plastic padding which creates static charges as soon as anything in the package is moved around. This one doesn't draw dust from the entire room like the other one does. This system has a smooth plastic squeegee. The other one comes with a squeegee which is not smooth and which sheds particles when used. This system does have a lens cleaning cloth which I didn't use because its edges were cut with pinking shears; a pinked cloth edge sheds fibers, but using the wet wipes one doesn't need this rag. The rag in the other system is substantially similar. 5Proper cleaning is essential The cover itself is good. It fits perfectly and is exactly what I expected.Just make sure that when you clean your ipad, you REALLY clean it. Use a strong head lamp or other lamp to inspect the ipad before trying to apply it though. I made the mistake of not doing this and all these little dust particles that I didn't see were still on the ipad and it results in air bubbles that will never go away. It's not an issue with the product but an issue with anything like this that will apply over glass. Just clean it, clean it again, inspect it, then clean it a few more times. Also make sure you're in a space where there's not really any dust floating around because as soon as you stop cleaning it and try to apply the cover dust will have already floated back onto the device again. 4I prefer the Clear, but Anti-Glare is good too. Bought both the Clear and the Anti-Glare.Both were excellent quality materials and well made. Easily installed by lining up first and using painter's tape at bottom to make a "hinge" before removing the protective backing. Went on with just a few dust specks which were then easily removed using the included stickers.I tried the anti-glare first. It does cut the glare and fingerprints are less noticeable, as advertised. But as you might expect, it does cut the sharpness of the display a little bit as well because it gives a "frosted" look to the display in order to achieve the anti-glare property. As you scroll a page, it looks as if it is moving below a layer of fine dust or dirt. It isn't horrible, but I found it distracting. It is a trade-off for less reflection and less noticeable fingerprints.I ended up removing the anti-glare and installing the clear, again using the painter's tape method. Another easy installation, and this time perfectly clear -- looks like there is nothing on the screen at all. Both are great products, my personal preference is the clear but it depends on your priorities and whether you are willing to give up a tiny bit of clarity to get the anti-glare properties. 5Fits 6gen Ipad 9.7" 2018! Matte finish - good for drawing! OK. This one fits 6gen 9.7 inch ipad 2018! Has a nice matte/antiglare finish and is good for drawing with apple pencil. Very easy to apply if you follow instructions and clean your ipad screen well before putting the protector. The film is thick and has a good texture. Picture quality gets a little hazy after the application but nothing too dramatic. Overall great protector. Recommend! 5Won't be buying Zagg again Just installed the Tech Armor HD screen protector on an iPad Air 2. Wow! Way, way, way easier than installing Zagg products! And I've installed quite a few Zagg screen protectors. I use to swear by the over-priced Zagg. Now I swear by Tech Armor. The affordable price for a high quality, easy-to-install, screen protector is exactly what I was looking for. No more dealing with Zagg's wet solution application technique. Tech Armor uses dust tape to remove dust and bubbles. Too easy. I do recommend watching the installation video and bubble removal video that is found on their website. That was very helpful for proper installation. The only suggestion for improvement is to make the micro-fiber cleaning cloth bigger in size. Instead of using their cloth for cleaning/prepping the iPad screen, I used my eyeglass lenses cleaning cloth and solution spray. My screen was really oily and dirty from kids playing with iPad. So, I needed more than the provided cloth.BTW, the clarity of the screen protector is superior. It looks like I don't even have a screen protector on the iPad. It's that clear, and there's no loss of touch sensitivity. Like I said, it's as if nothing is installed.Since I did just install the screen protector, I will update later if I encounter any additional pros/cons. 5Great Product! The Tech Armor High Definition clear screen protector is perfect for any Ipad user who wants to ensure protection of their screen. Whether your Ipad be used for business, school, or just for fun, risks of cracks and scratches are imminent. With the Tech Armor screen protector, however, these damages are easily and affordably avoided.Upon receiving my screen protector in the mail, there were multiple criteria I used to evaluate this product. My top 3 criteria were: installation, responsiveness, and image quality.Installation:After installing various protectors on cell phones in the past, I noticed that removing bubbles caused by air and dust have been a big problem. Tech Armor, however, provided all the proper tools for perfectly applying the screen protector with no bubbles. The package included:2 protectors1 instruction card1 polishing cloth4 lint removal stickers1 bubble removal cardUnlike most screen protector companies, Tech Armor provided lint removal stickers, which were extremely effective in removing specks that were not taken off by the polishing cloth. Once my ipad screen was completely free of dust, application of the screen protector was a breeze. By following the instructions provided, I was able to easily line up the plastic and apply the protector. Although a few bubbles arose when placing the plastic, the bubble removal card made it easy to push the air out to the side and rid the protector of bubbles.Responsiveness:As a student in college, one of the main reasons I purchased an Ipad was to take notes in class. To do this, I use a rubber stylus to write with. Thus, a big concern of mine was that the ipad would not recognize the stylus as well with a screen protector blocking it. Once I tested the stylus with the screen protector applied, I learned that the screen maintained its responsiveness with no problems.Image Quality:My final concern I had when purchasing a screen protector was the effect on image quality. There was no problem at all with this product causing a decrease in sharpness, in fact this screen protector gives the appearance that there is nothing on the screen at all. After a few weeks of using my Tech Armor screen protector, I have nothing but positive things to say about it. If you want an inexpensive, effective way to protect your Ipad screen, look no further because Tech Armor s HD clear screen protector is the screen protector for you. 5Easy to apply I purchased this to put on a brand new ipad. It fit perfectly. The installation was very easy. The biggest problem I have had in the past with any screen protector is dust. If you have a speck of dust on the screen you get a bubble that won't go away. I put a protector on a previous ipad that had been in use and I had a couple specks of dust under it. I peeled it up and used the dust remover sticky pad and ended up with more dust when I reapplied. It was a different brand protector. I read reviews looking for a protector that seemed to be easy to install so I purchased this one. I put on rubber gloves, removed the ipad from the packaging and partially peeled up the plastic cover and started from the bottom installing this protector. As I applied it to the screen I peeled up more of the original packing cover on the screen and ended up with a perfect application. There were about 15 to 20 small bubbles in the screen protector. I used the plastic card to remove them and then removed the outer coating on the screen protector and the application was perfect. I will say the protector does get a lot of finger prints on it but that is better than on the screen itself. My concern is that I would hate to scratch the screen and always have to look at it, that is the only reason I put a protector on my devices. 5Waste of Money! Beware! I bought this for the new iPad 2017. After extensive research, I thought I had finally found the best screen protector for my iPad but man I was wrong. I don't know if I have bad luck and got a bad piece but both of the protectors were defective. When installing the screen, I followed the instructions diligently and made sure that my screen was clean. However, it seemed that the protector had dust on them already. When I picked up the first protector, i could see the dust but I thought it was just on the outer cover. However, when I started to apply the protector I saw that the dust was actually on the inner part of the screen and now the bubbles were being formed the iPad due to the dust particles. I tried to use the card to try to get the bubbles out for a long time, but since there was dust caught, I was not able to. I spent a total of 30 minutes trying to apply this protector. Finally, I gave up and decided to try the second one because I didn't want the bubbles right in the middle of the screen. However, the second one presented with similar issue. The bubbles were every where and they weren't coming out at all. I spent about 45min - 1 hour trying the second one to work but eventually I got so frustrated that I ended up crumbling up both protectors. Wasted my time and my money! 1Read this review I bought this for my iPad Air 1(5th generation). It doesn't perfectly fit even though the description said it was made for my model. When reading the instructions to apply the screen protector, it called for a wet cleaning wipe that wasn't included, but that really doesn't matter if your screen is clean. You can get by with the cleaning cloth and dust removers. It took me 3 tries to get it to match up enough to my home key and the sides. Every time I had to reapply it, new dust partials would somehow get onto the sticky side of the screen protector and anyone who has ever applied these things know that you cannot get bubbles out if there are dust particles underneath. So it took a LONG time to apply. That being said, this is the first screen protector that actually reduces glare like the description says it will. I took my iPad outside to test it out and was EXTREMELY impressed.I WOULD recommend this product for anyone that wants a functional screen protector to cut the glare down from lights and the sun. Just be prepared to take your time with the application. 4One of the two best I've used - NOT! UPDATE 11/23/18: I m late in providing this update, but I ve had to downgrade my original rating from 5 to 2 stars - and 2 is being generous. I have several comments on how BAD these screen protectors were.1) Installation was a bloody NIGHTMARE. I ve installed 20+ screen protectors - various brands on various devices - in the last 6+ years, and this one was absolutely THE worst to install. I ve learned microscopic dust particles & tiny mystery fibers suddenly appear out of thin air whenever a screen protector is about to be applied, so I now apply my protectors in the bathroom. I run my shower on HOT (to create maximum steam) for at least 20 minutes, with the bathroom door closed, before doing an installation. I wear my swim suit top to avoid generating fabric fibers, and do the installation on the back of a Lucite serving tray that s wide enough to fit across my lap and not wobble while I m working. I scrub my hands for a minute or more to remove as much of the natural oils in my fingertips as possible, and I let them air dry. Yeah, I know all that s a bit extreme. But it s as close an I can get to a sterile lab environment, and elimination of dust particles in the air is THE key to a successful screen protector install. EXCEPT with these Tech Armor protectors.I couldn t see them, but I d swear there were already particles on the screen protectors before I even took them out of the package. I had no problem lining up the protector(s) for correct placement. I slowly began removing the backing film and letting it rest on the screen (I peel from bottom to top), but had only gotten about 90% of it removed before noticing there were ALREADY those tiny mystery fibers under it. I went ahead & removed the rest of the backing film, and immediately lifted it off my iPad screen (before it could really adhere to it) to try to remove those fibers. In my experience, if you have to use those dust removal strips to snag unwelcome particles in more than one or two places - AND near an edge - you can forget having a clean installation (without spending 45 minutes TRYING to get them all removed - which NEVER happens - a battle i ve given up trying to win). And that s exactly what happened with the first of the two protectors I tried to install.I did try to get to a couple of the mystery fibers, but the dust removal strips provided were ineffective at grabbing the fibers; and the more I tried to snag those few fibers, the more difficult it was to keep the protector correctly aligned - AND more fibers kept appearing in different places, and the adhesive back of the screen protector seemed to stick to the screen less and less well. After about 10 minutes of frustration & swearing, I just tossed that first protector in the trash, and figured I d somehow have better luck with the second one. I didn t. I had no other screen protectors around at the time, so I ended up leaving the second one on, WITH several fiber bubbles under it. And in the process of trying to squeegee a few micro air bubbles out, very fine scratch-like marks began to appear on the protector. I was NOT happy.2) In less than 2 weeks, the top layer of the protector began lifting/peeling back in several places around the edges. My iPad STAYS in its Targus VersaVu case at all times, except the few times I take it out to really clean the case and the iPad. The protector edges fit under the edges of the Targus case, so the peeling wasn t caused by a fit problem. I just happened to notice a tiny something at the upper edge one night when I was powering my iPad off, and when I looked closely at that something , I saw it was the top layer of the protector peeling (or perhaps delaminating?) about 1.5 in from the right edge (where the volume control buttons are). I view my iPad in the landscape position 95% of the time, so this wasn t in an area I touch much. I took it out of the case and examined the whole screen surface closely, and found several other places where the same thing was happening. None were more than 1/4 long, and they were in different places around the edges. I could see no reason these separations should have developed.3) Any screen protector is a fingerprint magnet to some degree, but this one was worse than any other I ve used. It was virtually impossible to get it clean from the moment I put it on. I was having to remove fingerprints & smudges on an almost twice-a-day basis. I clean using a large (5 x 8 ), very smooth microfiber cleaning cloth that s meant for cleaning camera lenses, & a good quality screen/glasses cleaning fluid, but it didn t matter. That protector was NEVER truly clean again. It also developed a slight haziness - which continued to worsen over time - and very fine scratch-like marks, a little more than a week after I applied it. I got so frustrated with the haziness, AND the peeling edges, AND the constant cleaning, that I had replace it in (probably) less than two months to save my sanity.I don t know if I had a defective pair, or if Tech Armor just hypes its products really well; but I was so disgusted I didn t even bother to call them for warranty replacements. And their warranty, along with so many great reviews, was a major reason I d decided to try these protectors. I WON T be buying anything else from them.(Original Review)I've IMMEDIATELY put a screen protector on ANY tablet, smartphone, or other device I've ever bought (and then put it in a case!). If I'm spending that kind of money on something, I'm going to do anything possible to protect my investment.I've bought MANY screen protectors of various brands in the past 6 years. Anyone who's ever installed a screen protector knows how notoriously difficult it is to do so successfully. These Tech Armor protectors (for my new iPad Pro) weren t the easiest to install, but they weren t any worse than most (my favorite is still the iCAREZ brand). I can't attest to their longevity. since I've only had one on my iPad for a few weeks. But the packaging, installation instructions & items provided in the kit were adequate, and I ve come to prefer the plastic/PET protectors over the glass ones. Given the multilayered construction, the clarity of the protectors, and their reasonable price, they re now one of my top choices for screen protectors. 2
