    Good tool for the price This is a nice tool for the price. Just like what other people reviewed, I had to break out some 220 sandpaper and knock down the edge where the brass was slightly above the wood then finished with a finer grit to smooth it all out, then I hit it with some boiled linseed oil. Really not a big deal, I often have to tune up even more expensive tools out of the box. 4It's just a beautiful tool I've only used it for a few projects, but it brought a smile each time. There are some tools that aren't used very often, but when you need them and actually have them, my first thought is "Wow, I might actually know what I'm doing". I know that sounds kind of corny, but last fall I took on a project that pushed my skill set and had to transfer a bunch of angles around the project. I was stumped for a moment until I realized I had ordered this tool a few months earlier. Looking back, that was the last moment I thought I was in over my head. 5Chinese Junk is not just a boat Well, an 8,00 mile ocean voyage does cost something after all. The sharp edges on wood and 'brass' can be fixed with light sanding and steel wool. Then oiling the wood should result in an attractive, usable tool. The chinese have two millennia of experience making poorly designed and finished products for export. They are expert at clipping the suckers. Too bad the workmen don't get the pride of producing something valued by its owner. When I am done with this it will be that for me.But who do I see for the artisan's wage I will have earned? 3this is great.. The finish is a bit lacking, but for the price, this is great....I like the ruler markings on the blade, it's not very common to have, and is very handy. I'd recommend this to anybody as they're very handy tools to have around. 510 minutes of tuning gives you a $40 tool As others have mentioned and like most cheap tools, you will have to tune this up to get it working properly. The brass protrudes about a 1/32" from the wood handle but with about 5-10 mins of sanding using 120 grit on plate glass (or something flat) this guy is ready to go.Worth the purchase to get repeatable angles on your projects without spending the money on some of those nicer ones. 4Requires Some Tweaking for Accuracy's Sake This Sliding T-Bevel took the better part of an hour to tweak into a useable tool about which I feel confident with regard to accuracy. I'll use it to lay-out dovetail joints.Out of the plastic wrapper, all four brass ends were better than 1/16 inch proud of the hardwood registration fences and the hardwood registration fences were not coplanar on either side. A file for the brass ends, a glass plate mounted piece of sandpaper and more elbow grease than I expected would be required (expected some at this price) resulted in a trust-worthy accurate tool for my intended use. 3Supplier rapidly provided the missing screw.. BEAUTIFUL TOOL!! My earlier comment noted a missing part.. I was surprised at the speed with which the supplier/seller sent a replacment! This tool is a work of art : fine quality wood matched to steel blade that is very clear to read ... Flawless ... !! All edges are sharp: which is meaningful in that any edge can be used as a scribe guide .... Thanks, Mr/Ms Seller ! 5Came with missing parts and disassembled Finely crafted tool? What a joke. It was in two pieces when it arrived and the circular bolt that should be there is missing. So it's unusable. Not only that, but it's poorly constructed out of very cheap material. It doesn't really matter though because it's unusable like i said and it's not worth trying to fix it. 1Flimsy, unreliable This tool is very poor in quality, especially the screw closure, which does not hold the blade tight or reliably at all. The wood and metal materials look fine in the photo, but the device is flimsy and poorly made. 1Lifetime Quality Tool This is a nicely designed T-Bevel tool that isn't too loose or too tight when adjusting the angle and making measurements. I love the wood and brass construction. This tool will last a lifetime! 5
