Perfection Perfect. Does exactly what it is supposed to. I had to order a 6db attenuator (2W rating) to put inline as the Access Point we are boosting has 400mw radios in it, anything over 100mw needs an attenuator. Most home wi-fi will not require an attenuator. Awesome amplification of AP signal. I am happy and my customer is happy. It's a well made piece. aluminum construction. LEDs light up for power on and show network activity. Even comes with a pretty decent directional antenna. 5and it works pretty darned well Outstanding. I am using a pair of these devices to connect my home network to my work network that is about 3/4 mile away. this little guy solved all my problems!NOTE: Don't plug it in backwards, or you will fry stuff. the connectors are labelled on the bottom of the device. Also, If you are using custom firmware in your router and you have the power cranked up, turn it back down to normal first, or you will fry MORE stuff. But this is simple, and it works pretty darned well. 5Many company's make them and a lot of them are good, and some are low end products and poorly ... Just to maybe help you along buying one of these I will tell you about my son inlaw. He had a two antenna WIFI repeater made by Netgear. He put one of these on each antenna port and connects to a Hotspot across a waterway about a quarter mile away. They have used that setup for 2 years with few problems. If there is a problem it's always been from having to restart the Netgear unit cause it hung up from a glitch in the powerlines. But these little ps work. Some of the others I've seen after a while get intermittent from so many transmit and receive cycles. And I've seen people try to hook up a high power WIFI router to one of these and trash the amplifier. This unit is to be only hooked to normal or low power WIFI equipment to amplify the transmit and receive signal. If you hook it to a router for instance that has 600mw or .6 watts of output you could burn up both pieces of equipment. Also this I would not use one of these on a router with beam forming technology. Like some that have more than normally 2 antennas. Read the book on the equipment your hooking this to. If you have a WIFI RANGE EXTENDER that says high power I'd not take the chance and put one of these on it. I'd try a bigger antenna or a different location for the repeater. Seems very well made and is rather heavy for it's size. It came with everything you need to connect it to your router. It was simple to install on my Verizon FIOS Actiontec M1424-WR router/modem.It's working great and has more then doubled the range. I have my router in an awkward place in my house and it hindered the signal strength, I can get wifi to the edges of my property now with ease. 5Good coverage in 2-story adobe home This thing gives me wireless coverage all over a two-story adobe home. Located next to USB computer speakers, there's audible induced noise from it. This gives audible confirmation of wireless network operation, but it's a negative.It's not the amplifier manufacturer's fault - it's due to poor shielding in plastic-cased computer speakers. 4Extended range on video by 200 feet. Was using just a antanna to transfer video feed 300 feet away while cleaning sewer lines and cctving them. After adding the buster it will now transfer the signal 500 feet away now. 4Two days then cratered. Unknown cause but unit was very hot. I attached the antenna, then the router, plugged the power into the unit and then the wall. Worked extremely well for two days....then nothing. Measured power at the access point went below what it was with just an antenna. Went back to the booster, removed it from the circuit, went directly to the antenna and signal was back to normal. I do not recommend this unit. 1Exactly What I Hoped For I purchased this simple-looking device with no small amount of skepticism, having tried a number of so-called WiFi amplifiers and repeaters in the past. However, this unit was impressive from the moment I attached it to my new Netgear R7000 Nighthawk router (three external antennae), which I'd purchased as an upgrade to our home network. We have a large house, which had previously required several unreliable WiFi repeaters to reach all corners of the home on both floors. The powerful new router thankfully eliminated the need for those repeaters, but my laptop and tablet still displayed only two bars at the farthest point from the router. When I replaced the router's middle antenna with this amplifier, signal strength in the worst "trouble spot" immediately jumped from two to four bars, apparently doubling WiFi signal strength throughout the house. I couldn't be happier, and I strongly recommend this to anyone who has WiFi range problems in their home, and uses a router with screw-on antennae. (Note---this item replaces one of the antennae on your existing router. It does not work by itself, nor does it work with routers that have no external antennae.) 5
