Customer Reviews

UPDATE 66% FAILURE RATE! UPDATE 50% FAILURE RATE!!! WOULD NOT BUY AGAIN4/14/20, 5 of 6 lights have failed. I will say the seller was ethical and trustworthy and refunded my entire purchase price. I am very sad that these lights went bad, it's frustrating to have to replace them. I've never had an LED light go bad before, maybe it's just a bad batch?11/30/19 UPDATE, 4 of 6 lights have died in less than a year! I'm shocked that these are an Amazon Choice!UPDATE: SADLY THESE ARE DUDS! IN ROUGHLY 4 MONTHS 2 OF THE 4 LIGHTS I INSTALLED FAILED! WOULD NOT BUY AGAIN!Initial review: These are very good lights. I'm actually a little surprised how sturdy and solid they feel. They are exactly as described and throw an amazing amount of light for such a small light. I put them in a bathroom where there'a a lot of moisture and it give me great confidence that they are rate for "Wet Locations". Put one in the shower/bathtub ceiling and it looks like daylight squared! We had florescent tube lighting for the last 25 years and had constant problems, flickering, not working, not not turning on. Its great to know these should last 40+ years! Its also amazing when you go to the big box stores and you only get 2 of these lights for the price I paid for 6!1Super happy I got these. These lights fit perfectly and lit the room better than I hoped for. It was harder to open the box and packaging than it was to install the lights. I was laughing at how easy this was. I call friends and family and told them to do the same ASAP. No more changing bulbs. At 1/8 the wattage, and 3x the brightness, why wouldn t you switch to these. There is no humming and they dim smoothly. There is no flicker. The only downside is that after having the lights on at 100%, when you dim them they look like it s too dark and suffer only by comparison. Not a bad thing to me. If you have recessed lights and are considering switching to LED s, quit stalking and go for it. You ll be happy you did.5Too tall for typical Home Depot recessed can. Clips dont hold either.I tried to install this thing. After 2 cans I gave up. I got the cans from Home depot. These are 3" tall lights and they can hardly fit. They stick out and clips dont really hold that well. Yes, I did move the socket all the way to the top but that didnt help. Most 4" cans dont have too much room to play with. Also, they give you a little flicker right before they come on (kind of like 2 step lighter and brighter. I decided to go with different brand from amazon that only has a 2" high light. That is 1 inch lower. Big difference.5An almost perfect retrofit, just be careful which dimmer you pair it with.I just installed 8 of these into new Sunco 4" retrofit cans in my bedroom. The cans went in relatively easy, and for the most part the bulbs/light engines are great. The trim is nice durable metal with a smooth, clean paint finish, and the spring clips are sufficient to very firmly hold the trim in the can (if it wants to droop a little bit, push it up and turn it maybe 15 degrees in either direction, it should 'bite" and hold tight to the ceiling then). I'm using them with a Lutron Maestro CL dimmer that was already in place running the lights on the ceiling fan that this will replace. With the switch on, they work great. They dim from full brightness all the way down to barely visible with no flicker, buzz or other annoyance. The issue comes when the switch turned off. The Maestro is a computerized/electronic dimmer, and it doesn't have a neutral wire. Even when off it consumes.15 watts (per it's specs), and the only place for it to dump that power is into the load (the lights). With only one of these installed, it would still be visibly "on" even with the switch turned off. With 8 installed they all have a very faint pulse when the room is perfectly dark (each added bulb will cut down the intensity of the lights when they are off, as the trace amount of power is being spread around more individual fixtures). I believe this is a by-product of the excellent dimming performance of these bulbs... they have to be able to operate at very low input power to be able to dim well, it's just that this switch (and others like it) don't turn the power completely off since they need power in standby.I've reached out to Lutron to see if they can suggest an alternate dimmer that may work better. My expectation is that with a dimmer that consumes no power in standby (ie a fully mechanical switch) it will be fine; I suspect that the Lutron Diva CL fits this bill. The other option would be a switch that has a neutral wire connection; that way it can source it's own power without running it through the load side; I suspect the ELV dimmers will work this way. I'll try update once I know more.4So much more than I was hoping forI was very concerned with this product and the Sunco 4 inch Cans that I bought at the same time. I had so many fears. 1: It would take a long time and a lot of effort to connect each can. WRONG: It took less than 2 minutes per can. 2: They would weigh so much they would destroy the ceiling tiles. WRONG: They weigh so little and are installed so well, there is no noticeable weight on the tiles. 3: They would have ugly visible rings around the lights were they are installed. Wrong: The 4 3/8 inch hole saw suggested in the forums and these perfect fitting LED's perfectly fit and covered the installation. finally 4: They would be dim. WRONG: They are so much brighter than I expected or even hoped for. I May have wasted my money buying lights for under the cupboards. These are easily the best items I purchased for my kitchen remodel.5Nice light-- and great priceMy contractor installed similar LED lights in a room addition. When my kitchen lights kept going out, I thought it might be time to spend a bit and replace them all. I went with the 5000 series. They are about as light as my 6 previous 65 watt bulbs, but they are much whiter, which we like in an area like the kitchen. They dim well, too. Installation was a bit tricky, as they didn't want to go up evenly, but hook one of the three tabs, and then another side would drop. It took just a bit of finesse, but all in all, it only took minutes to replace all of them. It was nice, as I had devoted most of the day to installing them, and since it was so fast, I had more time in the day to attend to other frustrations. Good purchase.5Easy install & extremely bright. These retrofit fixtures worked great! My only negative is that I have too many fixtures down a hallway for their brightness & the ambiance now reminds me of an operating room! I'm going to check and see if there's something with a softer glow instead. The incandescents I had previously were much softer and more inviting. You look up at these and they are glaring. If you want bright light this is the one to get!4Excellent quality, great light color, works well with dimmer, very brightI recently renovated my kitchen and installed recessed lighting. After comparing several options I chose these units due to the excellent reviews and the 11W power rating. Many LED's claim similar 600 Lumen brightness, but I was skeptical due to the other's 7-9W range.I was very happy with overall quality of the unit, including the provided wiring adapter. They fit perfectly within my HALO brand fixtures and dim perfectly with my Lutron dimmer switch. With the same dimmer switch, I had an issue with flickering with cheap screw-in LED light bulbs. These have ZERO issues.I chose the 3000K color and it's perfect for my kitchen. Great balance between being bright and modern without being too white. I will definitely being using this brand in the future for my other lighting projects.5Great warm white lights! These light really changed my living room. I used the 3000k warm white lights which are great and they dim well. For the corresponding cans:Despite the short and unfulfilling directions, they are also easy to install in the corresponding can, relatively. I installed them in a ceiling with attic access above. If you do not have an attic above your ceiling and dont have trusses as joists, you will have great difficulty wiring each light together. To install, I just marked the ceiling holes with a laser measure then aligned them with string. I used a stud finder and checked for ceiling joists where the lights go; I have to move two lights and inch so the can and clips would clear a ceiling joist. I then drilled the holes with a 4-1/2" hole saw. One great thing about these lights is the electric box separates from the can. So, I inserted just the cans from the living room then attached the electric boxes in the attic after I wired them up. This was helpful because I didnt have to wire them while on a ladder or in a cramped area of the attic. Wiring is easy, I stripped 1/2" off the hot and neutral and they lock right into the clip, no pig-tailing of wires needed which saves A LOT of time. My attic has blown insulation, so after I confirmed the lights worked, I dumped all the insulation back in. I installed a separate dimmer switch (type below). Some notes on installation:-The directions say to saw/cut a 4-1/2" hole but the paper outline the cans come with has a 4-3/16" diameter hole. I used a 4-1/2" hole saw but you can get away with a 4-1/4" hole saw. 4-1/2" just gives more room for the clips to attach (part of the clip needs room between the drywall and can.-HIGHLY recommend a dimmer switch, they are bright on full power. I used the following dimmer which works fine: Lutron SCL-153P-WH-DO NOT saw or cut the holes until you know there is no ceiling joist that will block the can from going in.-I have a 1950s home, the cans were installed on a 1" thick ceiling with no issues.-The electric box attached to each can has many 1/2" knockouts and one 3/4" knockout. I used the 3/4" knockout to run two wires in 5 lights, 1 wire into 1 light.5Brighter.Led Can Lights are twice as bright than those 40 watt bulbs and use a 4th of the energy, even less if you have them on a dimmer. 14 lights are spaced 40" apart in 2 long rows in a 12 x 30 kitchen space with hanging lights in the middle for the island and provide the bright light I was looking for. I have also replaced the other 30 can lights in multiple sizes throughout the house and could care less now if the lights are left on longer than they need to be. Lights produce very little heat. Worth every penny.5
