Bright Light, Easy InstallationI purchased these lights to replace the standard lights in the kitchen and laundry room. I was amazed how bright they are. The old lights were warm white and I got the daylight LED lights. I didn't realize how "yellow" the room looked with the warm white lights until I installed the daylight ones. These provide a much more whiter, brighter look to the room. Since my wife bakes and decorates cakes, these lights will certainly assist in insuring that she gets true to color decorations with this color of lighting compared to the warm white.I had two problems with the lights. One did not work initially. I removed it from the socket, re-inserted it and it work. the second problem was that the wires came loose from the connector on one light. The wires were easy to insert back into the connector and the problem was solved. Installation was fast and easy once I figured it out. I had a total of seventeen lights. Removing the old lights and trim, unpacking the new lights and installation (and problem solving) took me about 45 minutes for all seventeen lights.5These lights can be set to very dim settings with no issues.Let me start off by saying that I have been struggling to find a LED retrofit for my cans that didn t pulsate or flicker on very dim settings. I should have purchased these from day one. These get very very dim with no issues at all. If you are looking for reliable LED lights for your recessed cans that can get super dim and also super bright, buy these right now. I have tried high end lights that are 35 dollars a piece and these lights blow them out of the water.5Great indoor can light replacements!I am very happy with these. My house has 6-inch recessed can lights in all the common rooms (great room, kitchen, family room). A total of 31 lights. I know, that odd number bothers me too, but there are 30 in matched sets and one lone room (playroom) has only 1. They all had incandescent indoor flood lights in them to begin with. In certain rooms, they seemed dim or "gloomy" and I was hoping these would (1) fix that but (2) seem very similar in color and the way the room "feels" to the incandescent lights except for that. These kits at 3000k color temperature totally delivered on both of those.I purchased two 12-packs and two 4-packs, replaced all 31 lights, and have one left over.The replacement was fairly simple, with a small hitch. The spring clips on these units were too long to fit in the cans. This would cause them to hit up against the top of the can (where a normal light bulb or the adapter in this kit) screws in. They would slide through the gaps around the top of the can, but because they were hitting the units would not sit flush to the ceiling. The fix - and we'll see if I can describe this in words - was this. The top of each can is held in place by (1) a wing nut and (2) a metal tab that goes through a hole in a bracket and is then bent over. I unbent that metal tab, unfastened the wing nut, pushed the top piece of the can up until the bottom of the metal bracket was now resting on the metal tab (a good inch or so) and refastened the wing nut. In other words, I raised the "ceiling" of the can. Once this was done, the spring clips on this unit fit into brackets that already existed inside the can perfectly, and I was able to push them up far enough so the unit sits flush against the ceiling.I considered using wire cutters to make the spring clips shorter, but the above solution seemed better once I had thought of it.In terms of color temperature. Research suggests that normal incandescent lights like I had before are around 2700K. These lights do come in that color, but I wanted just a little brighter. But I did not want too white/bright! I decided to try 3000K and waited with anxiety until they arrived. After they were installed, all my fears were relieved. 3000K did exactly what I had hoped. It made the rooms feel the same way they had before but improved a couple rooms - like the family room - but making them feel just a bit less "gloomy yellow" - in fact in the family room in particular, they don't seem much "brighter" - just a better color of light. Perfect!I called Sunco to get some clarifications on the warranty. A rep answered very quickly, was friendly, and answered all my questions. Bottom line: these come with a 7-year warranty that does not need to be registered; you will simply need to know your Amazon Order ID if you need to invoke it. And the warranty can be extended by a further 2 years (for a total of 9 years) by visiting the Sunco website and giving your name, email address, model, and Order ID.My one "complaint" is this. The 12 units in my first box of 12 looked different than the 12 units in my second box of 12. The difference was with the bracket that holds the mounting spring clip. The first 12 appeared to have two positions in which to mount the clip - and I actually changed mine (from the upper position to the lower position) in an effort to solve the problem I described above, where the clips were too long for the can. It bothered my OCD a little that the design was different when I ordered two boxes in the very same order, but in the end all lights performed the same. But the big kicker was when I received the two boxes of 4 apiece the next day. The first 24 all had a black "cap" on them that appeared to be a ballast or at least something important to making the light come on. Imagine my surprise when the next 8 were missing that important-looking piece! Now I had three different looking lights that were all supposed to be the exact same thing! Again, the new 8 perform just like the others, same color, same brightness. But it still kind of bothers me. I do hope that "black cap" piece is not important after all. I have added a picture to show what the three different styles look like. Once they are all in the ceiling however, there is no difference in the way they look or perform.Overall - very satisfied. There were other options, but Sunco was among the least expensive. They were easy to install and perfect replacements for the original lights. I like them much better than the original lights; and I will never have to try to find matching incandescent flood bulbs again! Thank goodness!Next project - I think the family room could benefit from a dimmer switch. These light kits are dimmable, which will facilitate that perfectly. There are a couple good options, but Lutron seems to have the best products! Now I just need to convince myself (and my wife) that I really need the more expensive SMART switches that can be controlled via an app, remote, or voice commands in addition to the wall switch instead of the regular ones are controlled by wall switch only. :D5Threw the RIGHT LIGHT on my project!!!!!What a refreshing change after going through a "Retro Canned Lights From Hell" experience! Previously, I had purchased 12 retro recessed lights for my remodel project from a big box store. The lights were on "clearance" which should have been warning sign to begin with. I installed the lights, which initially, I thought were great. After about 3 weeks, one by one failed. I contacted the company as instructed on their insert that was provided with the lights. After talking to a customer service rep. who I thought sounded very knowledgeable, I was apparently tossed aside never to be contacted again! So after doing some diligent research online, I discovered the SUNCO LIGHTING 12 pack. Ordered them, arrived promptly and very well packaged. Installed them and now have 12 beautiful recessed lights to successfully complete my remodeling project. Thank you Marquee Supplies and Sunco Lighting! Great Product, Excellent Price, Outstanding Customer Service!!!58 out of 10 worked for 10 daysOk, they are very bright and I am happy with them overall. However - don't count on warranty.One of them went out in 2 minutes, and one in five days. Since I have 8 of them installed - taking a ladder again and removing them one by one - is just not worth it. - So I sent email to Sunco - asking or in-warranty return - ZERO response.2Works grratThis downlight is a 830 lumen/75 watt replacement which is perfect amount of light for fixtures on 8' ceilings. I tried 1100 lumen/120 watt replacement downlights and they were too bright, is was glaring in the eyes. For 9' ceilings, lights equal to 120 watts is ok, but much powerful for 8' ceilings and causes glare.I like the 3000k temperature. Initially I was looking for 3500k but could only find individual downlights that were double the price of one of these lights. So I ordered one set of 12 of these lights which are 3000k and the color turned out to be perfect, it's not yellow, it's white, but a nice warm white. I think the color of 3500k lights would be too cool for me.They were easy to install. I mainly have spotlights throughout my entire house because I think they are the best fixtures for 8' cielings. I will replace all my 2700k/650 lumen downlights with these. The difference in color and brightness is amazing.5These lights are great... If all 12 would have worked.I love these lights. I bought a pack of 12 lights. Only 11 of the lights worked. Amazon would not replace the broken light or refund me the full amount for a single light so I could just purchase 1 additional one. Instead they wanted me to uninstall the other 11 to return. It makes no sense at all, and I am very disappointed. Of course, I won't be uninstalling the other 11.3They don t center easily into the fixtureThe lights themselves are adequately bright (maybe even too bright at 4000k), they were easy to screw in. My issue was more with the springs. Just about every single replacement light has the same design. My cans have 4 slots that were likely for attaching a different inset with screws that slid in those slots. The spring ends get caught. So I had to be very careful to ensure the springs missed those. The next issue was, I have about 4 lights that refused to stay centered in the cans. In trying not to destroy my ceiling, I tried a weather seal caulk to try to hold it. I let it set with painters tape to hold it in place. It still won t center. So now I have to remove the light, remove caulk and try to get these 4 lights to accept the fixture without a giant dry way gap or it hanging half off. All my cans are the same. I ve not found bending or weird shapes, it s just the fixture wants to shift to one side and if I twist it too far to correct, the springs hit the slots and it all slides down because the slots are too low. I ve tried tape. Short of soldering a piece of aluminum in them, I m not sure what I can do. I m looking for other means to attach because even with caulk, they aren t staying where they should.32 failed within 5 days but good customer servicePurchased the 12 pack of Sunco Lighting LED retrofits. Installed them in our kitchen and they look great.Pros:-Very easy install-Look great-Light quality is wonderful. (we picked the 4000K Cool White for our kitchenCons:- Within 4 days of installation 2 of the installed 9 no longer functioned. We had the extra 3 and I swapped out the non-functioning ones for new ones. We will see how long these last. I am not happy with such a high% of failures.Another note: the metal clips that multiple people complained about were not an issue for me. They function the way most of these retrofit models do and were solid enough to cause no issues.Edit: While i am not happy with the failure rate, the company, Suncolighting made replacement very easy. With one simple phone call they are shipping two replacement lights to me (no charge and free shipping). This service is fantastic as I was worried there would be a large amount of fuss in getting the defective units replaced.3Not bad, but needs a little polishingBought these to replace cfl can lights in the House we just purchased. I had previously used Feit brand led conversions purchased through Costco and was blown away by the easy of installation and the quality. These units come setup for a 5 can and can be adjusted out to fit a 6 setup, but they do not fit snug like the original cans or the Feit brand led s. Light output is good, but the surface area of the lens is significantly smaller than that of a true 6 LED can replacement, and it gives the impression of a little light floating in an almost too large housing. Overall, it s an improvement in visibility, but the fit and finish is lacking. I had to bend several of the clip arms in order to find a sweet spot that would keep them securely fastened. Time will tell how they perform, but if I had it to do over I d spend a little extra money and go with Feit.3
