Great BargainThese are great lights and I would 100% buy again and recommend to anyone. One of the lights had the diffuser missing, I called to leave a message as it was on the weekend when I put them together. Manufactured failed to put one in, not the distributers fault. First thing Monday Morning I received a call and they immediately sent a replacement diffuser out. Outstanding customer service as they stand behind these lights.5I want it to be bright enough but didn t need/want anything super powerful/exepensive since these are just for basic videosI bought this with the intentions of doing quick YouTube videos for my business in my apartment. I want it to be bright enough but didn t need/want anything super powerful/exepensive since these are just for basic videos.The good:I went with this because the price was good and that it had an inner baffle. I didn t want any hot spot from my lights and this setup was the few that had an inner baffle. Light is more than bright enough. I m only using half the power and it is more than bright enough when all my apartment lights turned off. All the bulbs worked and I had everything setup within 30mins.The bad:The price is cheap and it was expected that this set will be light weight. Everything from the stands, lights, cases are light weight. I wouldn t expect this to last long if you re carrying it from gig to gig. However, for my needs, I am leaving them permanently set up so I wouldn t be breaking it down and up.Overall:For my needs they work and they met my expectations. They performed as they should and I am glad I didn t go overkill as the lights are just for basic YouTube videos. I d recommend them so long you know what you re getting and what you need it for.4Great for filming YouTube videos and photographyThis is an amazing set for someone who wants to start off doing youtube videos, photography, etc. this is great for makeup tutorials perfect lighting you can diffuse the light there's two switches in the back of the lights so u can have the option to turn of two lights on each side or turn it off completely. Now I gave it four stars because it was a bit difficult to set up at first. The directions that it comes with wasn't very clear on where to insert the metal sticks in. I assumed it didn't have any holes so I made holes myself so they can insert. I even looked on YouTube to get an idea but during the end of setting up I finally found where to insert them. The part where you insert the metal stick there's a black Velcro at each corner, you have to lift it up so they can insert. I didn't know that since the directions weren't clear enough. Hope this helps anyone who is considering in purchasing it. I would recommend not taking it down and setting it up again only because it can be a hassle to put together. Other than that these are great softboxes for the price that it's at.4They Actually WorkWhile not the best pair of softboxes I've seen, they work as they should. I have been using them for a few weeks now and they function just about as well as I would have thought for the price. I don't really have any complaints but a few notes:+ The outside of the softbox is a leather/leather like material that seems to be adequate to keep in the majority of the heat.+/- They seem to get fairly hot after a few hours, so I would suggest not leaving them on for longer periods of time+/- While they come with a carrying case you'll seldom use it as most softboxes [these included] are a pain to put together and require some patience+ The cord is actually fairly long- They are flimsy. Not too much so, but if you're going to leave them in one place is to get either carpet spikes of some type for them or [if you're on hardwood] possibly rubber grips on the end- The manual while 'okay' doesn't explain how to clearly do much. Since most softboxes under $200 are built the same I just looked up a product guide for a similar one and used those assembly instructions. Those medal rods in particular are difficult to put in when you get to the 3rd/4th one. However, that is a common complaint with softboxes+ I accidentally knocked over one when doing some overly dramatic shots, and nothing broke or shattered. While they look slightly cheap, this actually surprised me.+ Finally, brightness. These are one of the few pairs under $150 that offer 4 bulb configuration in each, and added brightness is always appreciated.45+ hour assemblyDo not buy these lights!!! Soft box light sets should be easy assembly this set has taken me 5 hours to build and i haven t gotten one even up yet. It s important to say I ve been in production for 10 years and have tons of experience with lighting and building light sets. There is something seriously wrong with how these were engineered.1It works, light intensity is decent but color rendition...The first set up wasn't easy. The challenge you'll need to get through is installing the fabric box around the light. There's a notice in English with the set, but I found the instructions not to work. What I did: I put the fabric around the socket first. Then put one of the rod. Then put the rod opposite of the first one, bending both so it'll fit. To bend both, I put the whole thing on a table, and use my belly to keep the rod that's already in in place to leverage the socket and bend the rod while I try to stick the opposite one in. Hard to make sense of this, I hope that helps.That being said it takes about 20min to everything up. Once done I find the light intensity to be decent but the color rendition in my case is terrible. I was shooting paintings/drawings, and even using a color card to fix colors afterward on Photoshop it is really hard - and in some case impossible - to get back the true, natural colors of the subject.3If you're looking a single bulb system, just don't.....This was easy to put together and use for a beginner with lighting. I read many reviews and based on them, went with this system which has 4 bulbs in each softbox. I'm so glad I did. The backs have 2 switches so you can choose all on or just 2 on. I don't have a dedicated studio, so being easy to put up and take apart is a big thing. The lighting was even and natural.5Perfect for photos of clothingI'm very pleased! Set up took approximately 45 minutes, easy to put togther. Perfect for photos of clothing, see my before and after.5Hard to assemble, one light was DOAAstonishingly good price, but one of the units was Dead on Arrival. Two of the sockets worked, the other two did not. Definitely not a bulb issue. Figuring out how to assemble the umbrella with the tension poles was maddening. I recommend assembling first BEFORE screwing in bulbs, to avoid potentially shattering the bulbs as you try to attach the umbrella. If you've ever set up a tent before, the principle is similar, but getting the last 2 tension poles into the light unit is extremely challenging. This unit ships with 8 CFL bulbs, which was a bit annoying as I had planned to use brighter and more energy efficient LED bulbs (which come in a wider range of color temps), so now I have to donate the CFLs and each is packed in an individual box. The carrying case is set to carry each item in the set packed into its individual box, and that includes the bulb boxes...a bit strange. If you don't disassemble and repack every component into its cardboard box, the unit will not carry securely in the carry bag. BUT! You get what you pay for, and if yours arrives in working order and you don't mind 20 maddening minutes getting the umbrella assembled each time, and 20 frustrating minutes repacking each component into a flimsy cardboard box after each shoot so it will all fit snugly back into the carry case, GO FOR IT!!3It's okayI would like to use it more and see if my review needs to change, but so far it has done the job. I was putting it back in the box to return to sender because I COULD NOT figure out how to assemble the covering over the lights (as many other people on these reviews are saying). But I started researching other lights and saw a similar made oversees brand with a video on how to put of the lights. This company puts no helpful instructions in the box and the tab to put the metal rods in IS SEWED UP (which is beyond stupid bt blame the company for not telling their workers not sew it all the way up). So I have to alter it myself. The lights are bright and work well so far. The poles for the lights and the piece to connect is so flimsy and made of plastic so I'm not sure of the longevity on these items. I don't plan to use these for long, just temporary until getting some official ones. I would suggest spend the extra money & go straight to some official lights but if you want some temporary lights, they will do the trick after you go crazy from assembly first.3
