    Was recommended this model from several friends in law enforcement. I ve been friends with every member of my adopted hometown s Police Department, come & gone, during the past 20 years. When I asked several, including the Chief, they ALL recommended this model! In fact, this model is one of 3 Streamlight flashlights he recommends new members of the Department to purchase. Plus, with the unique battery design, members of the department can share them if they don t have a charged backup before start of or during shifts.He said he s never had one break on him because of how rugged they are - I ve already accidentally drove over it with my Silverado 1500 & it was undamaged, so I know it ll take a beating. The illumination range & how bright the light projects is phenomenal! The strobe feature & the on/off button on the rear are icing on the cake.If my friends in law enforcement rely on Streamlight flashlights for personal safety & the safety of others, what other proof is needed to buy? 5Read update. I love the light, it s bright. My only complaint is that I wish it was more of a flood... it still has a hotspot in the center of the beam, which I didn t expect for how the hl pattern is described. I am on the fence of if it s a four or five star light. I can t decide if my expectations of the beam pattern should be grounds to knock a star off or not.Update after a month of use: the few times I ve used this light, it has been completely useless. The beam pattern on it is junk. It has such a small hotspot with little to no area light, that I have literally had to stop what I was doing and go get a diffrent light to accomplish the task. I couldn t hate this light any more. It is utterly useless to me. 1Great reliable durable quality. candela is the selling point for me. This light is awesome. The lumens are way more than enough. I have several smaller tactical lights some brighter. I've never used 500 lumens and said man I wish I had more lumens. I have said I wish I had more throw. This light provides that.Without losing ANY flood compared to a 700 lumen tactical light this light gives you a much brighter hot spot which works great for blidning and seeing further. I've neglected the candela rating on ANSI charts for years and now I see what they are for. Even though this light is 60 lumens less than my smaller light it looks 500 lumens brighter from a distance. If you hold them up to the wall next to each other on high the stinger hot spot with stand out on top of the smaller light. (2 smaller Tac lights will wash each other out)NiMH battery seems like a down side but in reality its not. I've been using lithium ion 18650 in my other lights and it is very hard to find a reliable company that makes them. The NiMH has a very long charge time with most of these chargers. 10 hours. They do have the fast charge ones so that remedies that. I opted for the piggyback though because I wanted 2 batteries to charge at the same time and I'll be charging this light for work when I have 2-3 days off on a row so charge time won't really be an issue. Plus from what I remember about older battery technology is slow is better for life.The DS model is definitely s plus. I was on the fence but glad I got it. It won't ve my primary switch of use but in a high stress fast paced situation the tailcap will be much easier to use than looking for the side switch. Also, it does not feel awkward to use like I thought it would. The light is well balanced and doest feel front heavy.The anti roll ring is nice and looks pretty cool. Just rubber. With the DS the anti roll ring doesn't work well on the tip of the light with a holster. The ring can go down further but covers one of the heat sync and I didn't like that.Ipx4... Better than nothing. Wish it were ipx7. Then again I never used that "feature" on other lights and I'm sure a quick bath won't ruin anything.This is my first streamlight flashlight and the quality is just as good as the siege lantern I have which is amazing. I wish I bought this a long time ago instead of wasting so much money looming for s good smaller brighter light. 4Excellent for LEO outdoor illumination purposes Yes, this is an expensive flashlight. If your job or life depends upon seeing at night you can trust the Streamlight to preform. Word of caution, when the battery is done it is done, the flashlight will go direct out. Maintain your equipment properly and you wouldn't have a problem. Comes with an extra battery and car (DC) charging system. With the two batteries and a smaller Streamlight for vehicle searches I have found I do not need the car charging system (good to know I have it in the gear bag). The Stinger is good for backyard, wearhouse, street, and other large space illumination. Stinger is too much for house clearing, will stun when directly shined on a person. 5Cop proof I have just retired as a Deputy Sheriff Sergeant in a rural area after 36 years and have gone from the multi D cell lights to these. WOW. The SL-20 was Streamlight's initial rechargeable "cop light" and everyone got one. Streamlight just gets better and better. My last one was a DS HPL 75882 that I was issued and had to give back when I left. Since May, I have purchased 2. One for a myself and a Christmas gift for the son-in-law (certified flashaholic). The ac/dc piggyback charger is the set-up, although I have had few times where I ran a battery down. Maybe a few accident scenes, but that's about it. They are a little spendy, but if you need a part for one 10 years from now, Streamlight will still be there. I have put in a switch or two in the old SL-20 lights from the 1980's. A cop can break an anvil, I'm sot so sure about a Streamlight. I am not associated with Streamlight in any way. I just recommend them to my friends, and give them to family! 5Rock solid even for a flashlight junkie. This light is solid for the money. I also have several surefire lights including the lawman r1. This streamlight stinger I really admire. It's quality built. It is 400 lumens lower than my lawman but it's not that noticeable of a difference. This light is blindingly bright. Love the tail switch and that all you do is hold it down to cycle between power levels. The one thing this light has over the lawman r1 is the readily available aftermarket parts available. For example, try to purchase an aftermarket oem battery for the lawman; its non existent. Without their proprietary battery you will only get 750 lumens from the r1. I have read nothing but raving reviews about the streamlight stinger family and I can see why. I have read a couple of negative reviews about a few stingers that failed but those are few and far between. I had to send in my lawman r1 for an internal electronics issue. Surefire sent me a new light but I'm just pointing out that any piece of electronics will have a certain percentage of units that fail. You will not regret purchasing this light.I Did purchase the piggy back model that came with an ac and dc charging cable set up. The only complaint is the charge time of 9 hours to fully charge a battery. Also the charger red light has no way of telling you that the battery is fully charged( will not blink -unless charging lithium ion battery - and does not turn color.) It comes with a spare battery already in the piggy back so you get 2 batteries already included so for the average citizen it should fulfill your needs. Also purchased a 2hour fast charger and one more nimh battery that should arrive this coming week. Will keep the fast charger in the car with the supplied dc cig lighter cable.Great setup for anyone in LE or security or just the average citizen looking for a great rechargeable flashlight setup.ProsJust the right size. Purchased this for my dad who is older and complaining about charging up his own flashlight and how little time he got each charge. This thing is great! It lasts a long time on each charge and the backup battery is easily changed and then you can keep going. We also live in rural Florida so power outages are common. Having this flashlight with the backup battery means it will be very handy for charging in the vehicle if needed during those times. Excellent product, and I am really surprised at how far it throws light. Buy this if you are considering it. 5You want a quality, dependable long lasting flashlight? Buy a Streamlight I'm a home inspector so flashlights are all important in my profession. Don't waste your money on the $20 to $30 lights. They work OK for a few days then they get stuck in the strobe function or simply won't turn on. I own several "old style" Streamlights (incandescent bulbs). They're good lights but the newer LED lights are so much brighter. After buying several of the cheaper brand LED lights that work for only a few days, I went back to Streamlight. This Stinger is the brightest, best made light I've ever owned. Time will tell how long it will last., but my experience with the Streamlight brand indicates it will last a very long time. 5This flashlight is my baby! Let my start by saying I really should be considered the "authority" on flashlights. I purchase flashlights so regularly its disgusting. I have tried them all; seriously, I have bought Maglite, Fenix, Surefire, and about a hundred off brands. Due to working private security in my down time I loose them, they are stolen, broken in chase, in altercations, ect ect ect. I have about had it with flashlights all together, until I started using Streamlight. I can safely say these guys set the standard for what makes a real flashlight! I believe that statement so much that this is actually my second 75453 Stinger. This flashlight really is phenomenal. It has four settings Low, medium, bright, and strobe. This flashlight is so bright it will blind you in broad daylight. The battery life is great, and rechargeable. One thing I personally like about this flashlight is it is a "goldilocks" model. Its not too big or too small, too heavy or too light, too dim or.... well its bright as F@#!. In short its perfect in every way i need it to be. I can close by saying I will never go with another flashlight maker ever again. Also, Streamlite as a whole has earned my trust and I have started getting lights for my weapons systems as well. Streamlite, Keep up the great work guys! 5Proven There are few occasions that I know what to expect with a purchase. I just retired from Law Enforcement this month and found I apparently used my issued light quite often when off duty. I knew this light to be workhouse, and decided to spend the cabbage. You get what you pay for. My expectations were exceeded. My streetlight was about 6 yrs old, and the new one I just received is even better with brightness, and extras. I really like the piggy back battery and know this will last me forever. This is a quality light from a quality company. This light is used and abused by professional police/sheriff departments across the nation and holds up to the demands of the job. Don't hesitate if you are looking for a long-term, dependable light. 5
