Speakers blew out before the first round of batteries died.Speakers blew out before the first round of batteries died. There is good news in that, I suppose, seeing as how it has run at least 24 total hours since I got it a few weeks ago. I can only listen to at half volume now which is fine if I'm in the shower, but the description says "shower, pool, or anywhere outdoors" and at that low volume I can only hear it from about 5 feet away if it's pointing at me and there isn't any other noise (such as running water, splashing, random public chatter/other music, waves, etc). It did sound pretty ok at full volume when it worked properly, but the sound is completely muddy at any audible level now.I never dropped it, submerged it, heck it didn't even get very wet at all, maybe misted or steamed a bit in the shower. I went through the effort of drying out the speaker just in case but it didn't improve the sound.When I went to load it, the file transfer failed saying the file system couldn't support that many items (far far less than the storage capacity of the unit), for which the only fix was creating a folder first in the unit and putting everything in that one folder, even though the directions said I shouldn't create folders. I was eventually able to transfer a 1.5GB playlist of music, about 230 songs.The shuffle was very odd as well. It would play artists near each other alphabetically, and though I could fit over 200 songs (moderately high quality mp3's) I probably heard the same 50 songs over and over and never heard most of it. This is after 20 hours of total operation.When I get around to replacing it, I won't get another one. 2First day with the Stormp3 and so far I love itFirst day with the Stormp3 and so far I love it. I HAVE TO START PAYING ATTENTION TO DIMENSIONS! It was quite a bit smaller than I anticipated but like other reviewers stated, the speaker sound (for that size unit) is not too bad at all. The shipping cardboard box was intact but the nice plastic case this unit came in was cracked/busted with pits of broken plastic inside the product's packaging. I'm hoping this unit withstood the impact and it seems that it has. I don't know if my old mp3 files are causing tiny glitches every once in a while in playback and different volume levels per song or if it is the Stormp3. I will do a little research and testing as I haven't listened to these particular mp3 files in awhile. During my short testing (maybe and hour?) I noticed that during one song there was sort of glitch/hiccup for a second and then at the end of the song, during the shuffle mode, it played again (repeated). Either way not huge deal right now and the sound is really good. The speakers don't break up when pushing it. No way am I water testing this, I'm just using it in a high moisture bathroom scenario. If this product tests out alright then I will be purchasing one for my sister as a gift. (Please don't raise the price, it's about perfect where it's at, I wouldn't have paid $50 + for this.) I will give it 5 stars once it's broken in a little and fully tested. 4Simple, but I wish there was FM.I'm happy to finally find a good shower speaker that you're able to load MP3's into. I loaded an audio collection of holy scriptures onto mine. I know that probably sounds boring, but I find hearing them very comforting. It makes taking a shower a welcome escape. I stuck the radio on the shower wall right next to my head so that I can easily hear the scriptures under the roar of the shower. It's great that you can easily remove the speaker from the wall caddy so that I can place it lower when I take baths.I just wish they had a version with FM radio because that would allow guests who use the shower to listen to the music they like without getting in the way of the downloads I want on there. 5Serves its purposeSongs loaded on play in what ever random order and not all songs loaded on play. Player will loop through 15-20 songs out of all that is loaded so you may not even hear half of what you actually loaded on to the player. I did get the player wet and it still worked fine. Could be louder. Over all it served its purpose but could have been better. 3Great ProductAwesome sound , good quality , convenient , perfect for traveling , i use this device for work and my clients enjoy the music quality . This device outlast the other mp3 mp4 players out there that need to be charged i know because i used to carry with me an mp3 player with a separate speaker booster to get decent sound without carrying bulky CD players etc.the only thing that would make this product perfect is to have a screen to select the tracks and a clock to keep time . It is not cheaply made. I would rather spend $60 for something that will last 4 years than $20 for something that lasts 6 months. Don't hesitate to buy and try, return if unsatisfied since at time of this review it was fulfilled by Amazon which gives you the same return policy as Amazon. To add songs to this you have to hook up to a computer and put mp3 files on it. The speaker when plugged into a computer is just like a USB Flash Storage Drive, you simply drag and drop your MP3 files. If you have a bunch of songs in Itunes you will need to convert to mp3 first which takes just a few seconds and can be done within itunes direct no third party software required OR sites like amazon sell mp3 versions of their music downloads so they are ready to be placed on this device without any converting. We will probably just hook up to the computer every 4 months to change some of the content around, remember this is for short term playback IN WET LOCATIONS so you don't need 500 songs or playlists,etc. just some of your favorite songs playing. Before this purchase our $700 smartphones were put at risk to play music in wet spots, not anymore. 5Great sound in a loud shower!I love this little guy. I use him in the shower. The sound is awesome and it is so simple to load the songs. Drag and drop. Just to test, I could only fit aprox 300 Mp3s, so I'm not sure what file size they used to estimate the "500+". The batteries that came with it lasted 7 months. If the auto shuffle could be turned off, I would give 5 stars. Without fail, the first song loaded repeats, then shuffle starts after the next four. Since I'm only using it in the shower I would love it use a set playlist instead of shuffle. I only have 5 to 10 songs loaded at a time. 4Great for playing music in deadzones where streaming is not an optionI needed a small speaker that could play music files I had without requiring Wi-Fi, bluetooth, or a wired connection of any kind. That's surprisingly hard to find; I went to Best Buy and they didn't have anything at any price point with built in internal memory to play pre-loaded music without a bluetooth connection. I was just going to use an old school boom box that could play music from a USB drive, but luckily I found these. The audio quality is clear and overall better than I expected at this price point. Very simple to use, and the music plays on a loop by default until you shut it off yourself, which is exactly what I needed. The package came with 4 AA batteries--which were very old and leaking battery acid. That was a minor nuisance and I just used my own batteries. This is a great fool-proof option for playing music anywhere without technical difficulties. 5This is a great value and the speakers can be turned up unbelievably loud if that is what you want! Great product!This is my second purchase of this product, I loved the first so much. I have had the first one in the shower for over 7 months now, and it is still going strong. It was SO easy to open, hook up to my computer, upload the MP3 songs I wanted, and then install in the shower and with the push of a button, you have music making your shower more pleasant and less boring.The only downside is it appears to randomly shuffle songs, which is not a problem for me since I added only the songs I absolutely wanted on there, so there aren't skipping over any bad songs. However, if you want to hear particular songs on particular days, this is not the product for you. Since it is "randomized", when you hit the forward button it plays one song, hit the back button, it is NOT the same song that was before it just a moment ago. Hit the back button again for a completely different song, and then forward again for a third new song.It works great for me, and it is a great price. It has held up well, and the only reason I bought a second was for my second bathroom for guests to enjoy when they come over. 4LOVE THEM, we have two and bought a third for our daughterThe packaging is great and the texture of the Mp3 on the outside is awesome. Sound is great and can really get loud. I have been playing it a lot and the batteries are still going strong. There are two things that are not great but still worth buying this Mp3; First thing is You can only load about 100 to 115 songs on the Stormp3, the second thing is that it will replay songs before it goes through all the songs so my way to fix this is to every once in a while fast forward through about four songs and then it will play songs that you have not heard yet. I bought one for me and one for my husband. We really do love it and will be great at the beach or on our boat due to it being waterproof. We have part-time jobs and clean schools and we put them on our work cart and it is great! 5
