Huge help in increasing usable screen space Got this to attach two monitors to my Mac air, worked like a dream. Ocassionally there is a bit of 'ghosting' around one edge of an open doc or window, but not always, and it does not bother me. It does not cause any problems with getting work done. I am delighted to be able to use this device to increase my usable screen space from a 13 inch laptop to 13 inches plus two 27 inch monitors, woo hoo! 5Great value. Works great. I'm a big StarTech fan. Always find their solutions to be a great value. 5Wondering what to get a computer geek that has everything? This is it!!! This is a HUB that has HDMI/VGA, GBe and a USB pass-through. Since all of these are driven connected via a USB3 cable, I was expecting choppy video and reduced bandwidth on ethernet and usb. I was wrong. I installed the StarTech drivers on the MacBook Air 2017 which took about a minute or so and required a reboot. I plugged in the HUB to laptop and connect my Panasonic TV to the HDMI port and ethernet cable plugged in from the network. I immediately played a high def movie from the network to the tv and watched the CPU utilization. The cpu did spike for a little bit then settled down (probably Bitdefender doing a scan of the file I double clicked on or a scan of the directory I was in). The picture was clear and not choppy even with expanded to fullscreen (1920x1080@60). I decided to do more testing - watch a movie, copy a file over the network and copy a file to stick drive on the USB pass-through. There was some hesitation I think I saw however this was an extreme test and I was watching up close and waiting for it. Honestly, I am going to say "no hesitation" because it was slight and Bitdefender might be the cause. I don't think the average person would have seen it if I wouldn't have told them to "wait and watch for it".I consider this a gem.Pros: Low/No CPU utilization, Multiple Resolutions, No Artifacting (as far as playing with it for a day) detected, All ports work at maximum speeds concurrentlyCons: None 5The Travel Docking Station is very comfortable to use The Travel Docking Station is very comfortable to use. I use it with my Surface Pro 3 (great machine, BTW). Hence I wish the USB wire was longer and more flexible. 4Very compact and reliable. I like that is compact, the usb wire tucks away, and it worked right out of the box. 5Compact USB-Powered Port Replicator Meets Expectations Does the job, but there are two shortcomings: (1) The cable to connect to the laptop is VERY short--I was aware of this before I ordered the product; (2) The driver takes over audio when using "plug-and-play" installation, which is a minor annoyance, since the device does not actually have an audio port and the HDMI does not appear to carry audio.All in all, does what I need, but could be improved. 4Just wish it could do more displays While it has both a VGA and an HDMI port, it will only add one display to your computer/laptop. I would like it to be able to add two displays. As a result when I return to my desk with my laptop I need to plug the the docking station in (which has my mouse dongle, an HDMI input, and LAN connected to it. Then I need to plug in a second VGA cable to my laptop in order to use my workstation effectively.Technically it is working great, but beware you cannot use BOTH the VGA and the HDMI input on it at the same time, only one or the other. 4Love this little docking station Love this little docking station. HDMI, 1Gb Ethernet, USB 3.0 pass through eliminate several dongles.StarTech.com Travel Docking Station for Laptops - HDMI or VGA - USB 3.0 - Portable Universal Laptop Mini Dock 5This docking station works very well I bought this for one of my laptops for which the manufacturer does not offer a docking station. I had to install the drivers for it on the laptop (it is curious to me that the Windows 10 on the laptop does not automatically install Windows versions of the drivers, but it doesn't). It comes with a DVD with drivers on it, but I downloaded the latest drivers from the Startech web site and installed them. Then, it worked flawlessly. Be aware, though, that because all video, wired Ethernet, etc. is going through one USB (3.0) port on your computer, all signals will be slower than if the computer had dedicated ports for each signal. This is not shortcoming of the Startech device, just a bottleneck on the computer. I would purchase it again. 4Very powerful docking station Works perfectly with my Galaxy S7. I use this along with an OTG cable, USB splitter, Wireless Charger to turn my android into a true mobile workstation 5
