Customer service did me a great disservice by telling me this docking station was compatible ...Despite assurances from Startech.com customer service, this product didn't work with my Dell Latitute laptop. I spent several hours following instructions to download different drivers, only to find that my laptop wouldn't support them. Customer service did me a great disservice by telling me this docking station was compatible with my particular laptop. Returned it.2Didn't work!Just received it and tried connecting my 2 HD 27" monitors but didn't work. Both monitors are connected with the HDMI cables and my Mackbook Pro is connected with the USB-C cable provided in the box. I have the latest Macbook Pro 15" 2019 version and the title of this product say it compatible with Mac so not sure then why its not working. Very disappointed as I was waiting to my monitors connected with my Macbook Pro. I will wait for few days and see if I can troubleshoot it and make it work else will return it.1macbook air 2017Bought this for a macbook air 2017 that recently had updated the macOS to Mojave 10.14.5, at first the 2 monitors were black only showing the mouse pointer/cursor. In the user guide it states after plugin the docking station that the driver will automatically install; this did not occurred. I manually proceed to install the driver that I had downloaded from the product's website. After restarting the laptop, both screens were displayed properly.So far so good.5This hub provide no power to laptop or the USB portsThe product itself works for 2 monitors with 2019 Mac Book Pro, no issues there. What I do not like is the fact that the product description is a bit mis-leading or maybe the description is not fully descriptive. You would think that if you have to plug in the hub that the hub would provide power to the laptop or at the least provide power to the usb ports. It does not provide power to anything. These two things are leading me to return the unit and look for another solution. Paying almost 200 dollars for a bunch of useless USB ports and a power pack that runs the little blue led on the front of the unit????3OS X Driver ProblemsOrdered this for my 2019 MacBook Pro and needed to download and install a display driver. After installing the driver, my Mac would not boot up. Had to spend 6 hours restoring from a recent backup. If you have a Mac, I would be very careful with this dock.1Professional equipment, period.It took a long time to find what I need but I think I made a good decision. It is not cheap, but you get a professional equipment for your money.No software installation is needed, just plug and play. I use it under Windows 8.1, with a 27 inch 4K Dell Ultrasharp monitor. It works like a charm. I do not feel any lag while video editing (if so it is more because of my laptop's low performance) and it is really useful with my photo retoucing work. No flickering, I got a razor sharp, brick solid image on screen. I use the monitor via the display port.5Had high hopes but the thing never workedWhy I purchased this device:I have two monitors and two laptops I use on a daily basis, one for work and one for personal and gaming (Lenovo Legion Y920). I previously purchased a KVM switch (TESmart KVM Switch 4 Port HDMI) to make my desk more efficient so I wouldn't have to constantly switch/plug/unplug wires constantly but unfortunately, the KVM switch had very noticeable lag while gaming. I thought I would spend more money and purchase a higher quality docking station instead so I went with this guy.Verdict:Honestly, I really liked the look of this dock as it reminded me of my old Nintendo and it seemed to be exactly what I was looking for. Upon using the dock it was again evident that this was not going to perform well for gaming. There was noticeable input lag with my peripherals (Leopold FC750R PD Mechanical Keyboard and Corsair M65 Pro RGB Mouse and Corsair Dark Core RGB Mouse) and even worse than that, I couldn't even use my keyboard at all. While typing with my Leopold FC750R PD keyboard it would not recognize any input or enter one letter twenty times. No clue what was going on but this product is completely useless. Not sure if there is some sort of compatibility issue here or maybe I have a faulty device but this did not work at all.Recommendation:Go elsewhere. I could at least give this device 4 stars if it actually worked as described even if there is input lag while gaming but this docking station doesn't perform at all. This one is definitely being returned.1Fantastic docking systemI bought this to hook up my new laptop to two 32" HD Vizio TVs that I use as monitors. This particular model allows two HDMI connections which is what I needed. There are two Display Port connections as well.There are four USB ports on the front. I use one for a keyboard and one for my scanner. The scanner, which scans up to 50 ppm duplex, performs flawlessly through the docking station. There are audio jacks on the front. I have used the headphone jack late at night, and it works as well as using the headphone jack on the laptop.This is an excellent product and well worth the price.5tech support is top of the line!Had some trouble setting up, called the number on Startech.com, waited 1 min to speak with a real person and he was amazing! Nice to know i have that kind of support if i need it. Needless to say he got me up and running. Thank you Startech.com!5Full 4k @60Hz, great product.I would have given this a 5 star review, but the first one that I received was dead on arrival (DOA). The replacement is a great product, does as it should. I tested everything out for specs and they are spot on for refresh rates / resolution sizes. I run a 3 monitor setup on my laptop, my main laptop screen[middle], a 29" horizontal screen[left], and a 26" vertical screen[right].This product handles them beautifully. I run a lot of video editing and the outputs are great, full 4k with no video lag like my old docking station did. Where it could improve is on the port locations. There are usb ports on the front side but unless your desk is huge or your docking station is under the desk somewhere, it's not very usable, it'll get cluttered fast. Having 2 ports on both sides would fix this issue, but it's simply a cord clutter cosmetic issue and doesn't affect usability.4
