Customer Reviews

Works as expected. This came quickly and successfully connected my mac book pro retina with thunderbolt to my 30" dell monitor with display port. No problems. Looks quite nice too.5No Sleep problems, but slight tug caused resolution issue I read other reviews commenting on the issues with waking the monitor using this cable, and I wish they would state which monitor they were using.I do NOT have this issue and I have a Dell U2410 on a Radeon 6900 Video card in a PC with Windows 7.This cable worked excellent for attaching it as a third monitor.Months later, I was moving the computer and accidentally tugged on the DisplayPort cable and immediately got a pop-up window:"The system has detected a problem with the connection between your computer and the DisplayPort display that will prevent you from using the highest resolution and/or refresh rates. For more information, click on "Help"."Obviously the "Help" button results in the opposite of help, but the rest was true, the resolution went from 1920 x1200 to a maximum of 800 x 600. Due to the timing of my tugging on the cable and this pop-up, I'll just order another one (different brand) and see if that clears it right up. 3Shielding Problem I have a Dell P2715Q and a late 2013 rMBP. I bought this cable before the Dell monitor arrived. Turned out that the stock mDP->DP cable from Dell worked fine, until I hit the wake up issue (where Dell monitor is stuck and requires unplugging power cable). So I tried out this cable. As soon as I did that my wifi was going haywire. It took me a day to figure out that this cable was the culprit (not properly shielded). As soon as I swap out the cable, the number of Wifi hotspots detected blew up and signal to noise ratio improved dramatically. I even tried a TP-LINK USB wifi dongle to make sure it's not the fault of the MAC Wifi adapter. Cable connects to the monitor just fine, but I'm not sure if it solves my wake up problem.I strongly recommend against this cable if your Wifi adapter is within 2 meter of this cable. Maybe I have a dud, but I don't have a replacement to know for sure. 22) the monitor would jump wildly between resolutions due to the poor signal, 3) bands of film grain would randomly ... This cable was extremely shoddy, at least for me.My graphics card is the PNY GTX 970, which has only mini displayport, DVI, and HDMI. I got this cable to drive the 4K (3840 x 2160) Samsung U28D590D. Both GPU and display use displayport 1.2, as this cable is supposed to.This cable absolutely will not drive that monitor at 60Hz, in any resolution. What I got instead of proper functioning was 1) weird flickering (the monitor would turn off and on), 2) the monitor would jump wildly between resolutions due to the poor signal, 3) bands of film grain would randomly appear and disappear all over the screen.Interestingly, my housemate's Macbook drove the monitor through this cable decently well, although still with the bands of film grain -- probably this has to do with the capacitance in his laptop's port vs my video card.I replaced this cable with the one here: Accell B143B-007J UltraAV Mini DisplayPort to DisplayPort 1.2 Cable with Latch, White, 6.6-Feetand my 4K display has functioned perfectly well ever since. 2Its possible that the Asus PB278Q monitor that I use has a bad DisplayPort connectionI first ordered a different cable from a different company and it never worked. This cable worked for 1/2 day then it failed too. Its possible that the Asus PB278Q monitor that I use has a bad DisplayPort connection. If that was the case, why did it work with one cable and not the other? However, these MiniDisplayPort to DisplayPort cables can be finicky. If I do find that the monitor had a bad port, I will update this review. I connect to my MacBookAir and any other monitor or projector works just fine.1Not what I needed for my configuration. I didn't what to give the adapter a bad rating since it was evidently no meant to work with my computer/monitor configuration. See below for my review of the Apple Mini MB571Z/A DisplayPort to Dual-Link DVI Adapter which I ended up having to use:I recently purchased a Mac Mini 2.6 GHz Quad-Core Intel core i7 and a 27 ASUS PB278Q WQHD LED-lit PLS Professional Graphics Monitor. The monitor came with several connecting cables, VGA-VGA, DVI-DVI, HDMI-HDMI, DisplayPort to DisplayPort. The Mac mini has an HDMI and a mini DislpayPort connection. I tried the HDMI, but of course the best resolution I could get was 1080. I needed an adapter cable to connect the Mac mini to the ASUS monitor. I tried three adapter cables. Neither the Accell B143B-003J UltraAV Mini DisplayPort to DisplayPort 1.2 Cable, the StarTech M/M MDP2DPMM6 Mini DisplayPort to DisplayPort Adapter Cable, nor the Monoprice 5106 Mini DisplayPort to DVI Adapter gave me the full 2560 X 1440 resolution of the monitor or fill the entire display of the monitor. I didn t originally purchase the Apple Mini MB571Z/A DisplayPort to Dual-Link DVI Adapter based on its price. I thought that the other adapter cables would work. I went ahead and ordered the Apple adapter cable. When it arrived, I connected it to the Mac mini and ASUS monitor. When I power the Mac and monitor back up, I immediately had full 2560 X1440 resolution and full screen display. I have been using the monitor with the Mac mini and Apple adapter cable now for six weeks and have had no issues. I have had no problems with the monitor waking from sleep mode like I have read in other reviews using other adapter cables to connect a Mac mini and ASUS monitor. This is correct adapter for my Mac mini configuration and monitor. I would not recommend trying to make the other adapter cables work. 4Good DP cable This cable works with my Acer B286HK 4K monitor + EVGA GTX 960 via DisplayPort 1.2. I was able to set resolution to 4K at 60Hz. I did not experience any shuttering. Based on VESA's website, DP-to-DP is pure digital communication. I have tested other cables, including Accell, Cable Matter (not certified), Monoprice, BizLink (with monitor), I can conclude that there is no difference among those brands. If you cannot make it 4K at 60Hz, it's usually GPU's problem. There is also no difference between dp 1.1 and 1.2 cable - they are simply dp cable. 5a tad short, but ideal for connecting ATI cards to dell monitors 4.5 stars if I could. A much better alternative to DVI for monitors/cards that support itI've got the XFX radeon 7970 in my mac pro, and recently got a 3rd monitor. I got some mini display port (MDP) to DVI adapters not realizing they have to be the more expensive 'active' type to work with the ati card in a >2 monitor configuration, and not realizing that the simple solution of this cord existed.not only is this a much more economical way to connect display port monitors (such as contemporary dell monitors) to a MDP card, and not only does it support 3 monitor configuration for ATI cards, but when the monitor is turned off or switched to another input, the card/computer knows (unlike with VGA/DVI, or HDMI), and remaps the desktop layout. Without having to physically unplug anything; this saves video card memory (driving fewer monitors when fewer are being used), avoids having an invisible screen of desktop area when i'm using another input on one of the monitors (e.g. for analogue video output on a blackmagic card), and even allows my wacom tablet to automatically remap to the change in desktop area. All that would presumably be true for any display port to MDP cable. As for the Startech 6-footer in particular:To call this 6 feet is literally a stretch, (5'11.5" from gold tip to gold tip of both that i bought), but it's sufficient to get from my tower under one side of my desk to a monitor sitting on top of the other. It lacks the cylindrical magnets that many monitor cables have, but seems to do fine without them. they feel reasonably secure plugging in at each end, and build quality seems to be good.been using them about 2 weeks now, will update if any issues arise. 4Works but didn't like the build quality of the cable so I had ...Works but didn't like the build quality of the cable so I had it replaced with equivalent Cable Matters cables.3It worksReally, what else is there to say about a cable, it either works or it doesn't and it works just fine with the 15" 2010 macbook pro.5Kept getting screen blinking I bought this cable to use to connect my Dell 4K monitor to my IOGear GCS1932 KVM switch. I have 4K UHD signal at 3840x2160 @ 30Hz and I was noticing significant screen blinking using this cable, around once every minute or so. The blankout would only last a second, but it happened so frequently as to be very annoying. I know it wasn't the IOGear switch causing the problem because when I used a Cable Matters miniDP-to-DP cable the blankouts disappeared. So take it for it's worth, it might work fine at a lower resolution, but be aware this cable might cause frequent screen blinking/blackouts. 2No complaints, good cable product.Ok, what can I say, I have a lot of reviews saying how Cable Matters products have been great to me. Well, so has StarTech.5Works PERFECT for connecting thunderbolt to DPSIIG and Monoprice cables do not seem up to the task of connecting my macbook pro or associated belkin thunderbolt dock to my DP monitor. This cable does!!!!5Causes intermittent blank display. This cable is not reliable when used with 4k 60hz screen.1Package came promptly. While I was using an HDMI ...Package came promptly. While I was using an HDMI cord to carry signal from a MacBook Pro to the ASUS VX279Q, and read that a Displayport cable would give me full 60hz, I noticed little difference. The text is slightly more crisp, and colors perhaps a bit more vibrant, overall, this cord is only necessary for videophiles. (Maybe there is setting I need to change, but I imagine it is plug-n-play.4Great quality, perfect for connecting my MacMini to my Dell Monitor.Using this to connect a MacMini to a Dell monitor that requires display-port or DVI/D to run at full resolution. Works great looks very clean and matches the rest of the cables on the MacMini. Overall nice/good quality product.5It just works - Audio and Video in one cable - PERFECT!!!It works and now I have video and sound from my MBA to my 32" monitor in one cable. Wakes upon click. Highly recommend!5Perfect for Mac Mini Late 2012 So I had settled with using my Mac Mini at 1080p resolution on my Dell 30" Monitor (which supports a much higher resolution). I used the included HDMI to DVI adapter and all was great. I had an issue where I had to go straight via HDMI to HDMI, but I was having an issue where the HDMI output of my Mac Mini (Late 2012 Model) would be cropped out of the screen on my 30" Dell Monitor. I tried everything, and even the Underscan slider on the settings tab would not appear because it did recognize it was a monitor. Apple's $99 DisplayPort to DVI-D I found was incredibly expensive, so I tried this cable. I now have full 2560 x 1600 resolution on my 30" Monitor going straight from Mini DisplayPort to the DisplayPort on my monitor. If you have a monitor with a DisplayPort and a Mac that has the Mini Displayport, use this cable. You won't regret it. 5Works Flawlessly! I pretty much have the worst luck in the world. So I was really happy when I plugged this in and it worked perfectly right away.Long story short, I bought a Mac (mini), decided I wanted a decent screen so I got an LG 29UM55 which is a 21:9 monitor. I plugged in with the Thunderbolt to HDMI port. No good. End up with a 16:9 screen with "skinny screen" bars on the sides. Full mode just stretched the 16:9 to fill and of course, that looked terrible. Read up and found out HDMI isn't capable of carrying 21:9 from a Mac, so I needed to use a displayport adapter. I'll be honest, I didn't know all the technical info on the cables and pins and whatever else goes on in these otherwise plain black wires. Decided I'd just try it despite some buyers experiencing monitor wake issues.Glad I just went with it. Plugged in and I'm now getting full 21:9 resolution. It's been 2 months and I haven't had any monitor wake issues, so I suspect quality control may have been the reason some other buyers were having this issue.Anyway, if you have a Mac, YES this works directly into the Thunderbolt port. It's a no brainer really, if you need this, just order it. Don't even bother with resolution apps, they won't help with getting the 21:9 over to your monitor. It's just too bad they don't sell these in physical stores. I'd have paid twice the price if I didn't need to wait for it to ship. 5A good, not readily available cable for a fair price ... A good, not readily available cable for a fair price with a lifetime warranty from StarTech. I am using it to connect my Intel NUC Skull Canyon PC to a 34" LG UltraWide monitor. I dual boot Windows and Linux Mint but for some reason Linux wouldn't recognize the Ultrawide monitor or allow me to choose the proper resolution (3440x1440) when connected via HDMI. This cable resolved the issue and I've had no issues so far. 5
