These are Amazing! I bought one of these in June of 2015 for $121.00. It lasted 2.5 years outside ( I live in NY w/cold winters). On a whim, I clicked through my Amazon Orders to see if it was still made. To my surprise it is, and it's only $20 now! I ordered 7 more, and a couple 3in1 power adapters. These things are just incredible! If you're on the fence, don't be-buy these now. 5Great product, better than alternatives, with a couple minor caveats Great product. Have been using similar BlissLights green laser for years. This product shows how technology improved over time. Much smaller, brighter and less expensive, with more adjustable features. Not perfect... would have appreciated to have the wall bracket included and to have the product all black. To me it makes no sense to have the product in vibrant neon green, make it hard to hide it inconspicuously. Still, for the quality and value I think it deserves 5 stars. I expect/hope it will last at least as long as my old BlissLights.Oh, and for the people complaining these are not bright enough, note that these need to be placed in areas of relative darkness. After dusk, in areas where there is minimum of light spilling from elsewhere, these are clearly bright enough. Highly recommended.UPDATE OCTOBER 2017: Product failed 10 months later. So turning my 5 star rating to 2 stars...I just sent the company an email to customerservice@sparklemagic.com about it and eager to see how they handle it. The box says 1 year limited warranty. I wonder about the hole at the back of the cylinder, where the cord enters the metal housing. It does not look like that is sealed. I also noticed water collecting at the very tip of the unit, interfering with the laser lens. A couple of months after use I would get the light pattern very fuzzy, not the crisp points it initially created. I am using the unit pointed down and asked about using that way and was assured it should not be a problem. Well, it may actually create issues. Note also that I had it installed under the decking of a balcony so it was pretty protected from rain. But I guess condensation may enter through the hole where the cord gets in and then seep all the way to the front of the unit. (BTW, my Bliss unit is still going strong after about 7 years!) 2I lOVE SPARKLE MAGIC!!! First let me say that I am a huge fan of this product! Previous to this purchase, I already owned 7 units. 1- Green V1 (2013-$120) and 2 each R/G/B V4 (2017-$40). I purchased them direct from Sparkle Magic. I use them for various holidays. All my units are performing as good as when they were purchased. I prefer the static single color lasers over the dual color motion units because they are more versatile for my needs. After purchasing the V1, I added a few BlissLights. The BlissLights are now either dead or too dim to use. Now I will only use Sparkle Magic. Wisconsin winter temps can be brutal. I use cold weather rated cords and insulate these units with outdoor cold weather rated foam pipe insulation. This kept these units shining to well below -25*.For this purchase, I ordered 1 Green and 1 Blue unit to add to my upcoming holiday displays. I was surprised to see that they are now only available on Amazon.When I received my order, the Blue unit was packaged in a nice, new, factory sealed box. It powered on and functioned normally. The Green unit arrived in a tattered box without a factory seal. The unit showed signs of wear and did not power on. I connected the power adapter that came with the blue unit and again it did not power on. Both the green laser and the power adaptor was DOA. The stand that comes with the unit was missing 3 of 4 rubber feet and the ground stake had also been used. I initiated a return/replace. The replacement green unit was shipped in a bubble envelope instead of a box like the original order. You could hear the contents clanking around inside its packaging. This replacement unit was also packaged in a tattered box with no factory seal. The mounting stake and stand showed signs of wear. The socket on the power adaptor was crushed on one side as if someone tried to force the plug in opposite the key. I was able to reshape the socket and power on the unit. It appears to work fine. I am keeping the replacement unit because the price is right, the unit works as expected, and I don t want to deal with another return with Amazon.The first green unit shipped from Cleveland, Ohio to Amazon Kenosha WI. The replacement green unit was shipped from Monee, Ill to Amazon Kenosha WI.Both units were used and in tattered packaging without factory seals.I love this product and will give it 5 stars but I am not happy with the condition of the product being shipped by Amazon. I will likely not purchase this product from Amazon again if I can find it elsewhere. 5Happy customer! I LOVE these lights so much. I purchased my first one several years ago and it lasted years. Finally dimmed out but I believe that I got more than money s worth from it. I have purchased 3 more in the past couple of years. It is a very sturdy and very bright light. The price has come down considerably over the years. I guess from all of the competition but you really can t even compare the other brands to this one. This one is superior quality to all the others that I have tried and I have tried MANY! 5Great customer service! I ordered 2 more of these (love this product) and one didn't work. I sent an email I found on an enclosed flyer and within a few days had another, perfectly working unit and a hand written apology card and surprise gift! These are nice little lights, well built and versatile. Works well both outside projected onto our fir trees as well as inside safely aimed at the upper-walls/ceilings for a great party effect. I would definitely purchase them again. 5New 4.0 product, better low temp performance, some of the same quality control issues For reference, we began with one of their previous generation laser lights years ago. When they worked, they were brilliant. We had 6 total purchased, they looked so good our house actually caused an accident. A lady was driving by and was distracted staring at our house and hit a parked car in the street. Problem was that when temps dropped, the brilliance of the product disappeared. Looks wise, it was a 10/10 product on a warm day. 7/10 in the 30s/40s degrees F. 5/10 when below 30 F. We purchased 6, all were different brightness. Little consistency that became worse as the temp dropped. Of the six we purchased, FOUR of the AC adapters died in 3 years. Customer service was always excellent, shipping new adapters for free. Still though... that is a very high failure rate and as we were told last time I contacted them they no longer produce these and will not have replacement adapters soon. When my AC adapters die next year, which I assume more will, I will probably not be able to get a replacement rendering the lights useless.Now the 4.0 product sold here. I probably would have purchased a different light to expand our holiday display if I was starting from scratch, but we already had 6 and to maintain consistency I thought I would try the new generation product. As promised, low temp performance seems to be increased greatly. The brightness still drops noticeably when it gets cold, but nothing like before and not to a degree that is bothersome. Unfortunately, of the 3 units we ordered 1 is noticeably dimmer in all situations. Again, the quality control of their manufacturer is inconsistent. Because of this, I have the same worries that in a year or two the AC adapters will die as with the old units For now, I am happy. Also happy with the DRASTIC price decrease. It is the main reason I decided to get x3 more units. I previously paid $100+ for each. I assume it's because there is a lot more competition now. When I first purchased, there was nothing like this. Now there are numerous other laser light alternatives. Some multi-color, some with motion.When working properly, this product is better than any other laser lights I have seen. There is an intensity to the light you don't get with the others. This makes the others look like a flashlight on your house, while this is a laser. Unfortunately, it's seemingly still a gamble on whether they will work properly.BTW, if you are worried about visibility of this or any laser light.. do NOT get the red. Red is the least visible color light on the spectrum, doesn't matter the product. I would recommend passing on blue as well, its low visibility. If this is a concern, only get a green laser light. 3After 30 years can finally light my big trees! Set up my sparkle laser lights yesterday, they are great! I have a blue spruce about 20' across at base and maybe 45 ft tall. It is at the very front of property and we are on a slight curve. I had ordered two green lights, the company recommended green, I think they may be the brightest. I used one on a 20' holly. Since I have dogs, I zip tied that light to the fence, it looks great. I should have lit the taller tree first because I need two, one for each side so had to order another and tree is only lit on one side. But by Tuesday, both sides will be lit. It looks amazing. Both trees do. I had ordered a three outlet extension cord last year that also has a dawn to dusk option and I plugged lights into that. My only concern is when it snows. The one on the fence will be fine, I may put garden stakes in the ground by the front tree and zip tie the other two so they are off the ground. Where they are is also where the snow goes when I clear my sidewalk. The only down side was how many extension cords I had to use, because of course the trees are the furthest from any outlets. 5HIGHLY RECOMMENDED so easy, so beautiful! WONDERFUL PRODUCT! Heavy duty. Worked perfectly straight out of the box. Absolutely beautiful. I first saw these lights used indoors at the local arboretum/conservatory to enhance displays of shrubs and small trees. I bought one to use outdoors for Christmas. We had ordinary string lights on the shrubs plus this laser light shining on the front-door area. Lovely! (And we plan to use them at an outdoor wedding, LOTS easier then trying to hang fairy lights in the trees!) Took only 1 minute to plug in, adjust distance from house, and get coverage of the desired area. Comes with a stand and a ground spike, nice. At a distance of 12 to 15 feet, the dots of light on the front-door area were a BRILLIANT strong color. I bought a heavy-duty extension cord for outdoor use.UPDATE 2019: This year I pointed the lights up at the bare branches of a 60 ft tree near the street, and the effect is AMAZING. Although these lasers are static (they don t rotate or move), they have a sparkling effect on trees branches due to the movement of the branches. Utterly magical. With the greater distance, the color is less brilliant, but the area covered is huge! One light covers half the tree. The effect is so enchanting I have left the laser light in place after the holidays. When I arrive home at night after a long day of work, I can t help but smile at the enchanting effect, high into the bare tree. Sparkling points of light on every branch! 5Projected on a bare tree in the front yard, beautiful and subtle I have both the red and the green. They "sprayed" a Japanese red maple (no leaves) in the front yard. The red is indeed fainter than the green, with the green able to project to the top of the tree, and the red more effective closer to the laser. It looked like the tree from top to bottom was strung with a perfectly distributed fairy lights.The effect was beautiful, and subtle! Easy to set up. Really a lovely and unusual display here in New England, where garish and overly bright LED's seem to be the norm. (Yeah, I used to use them too). 5easily adaptable to low voltage lighting system (though you have ... This is the most incredible thing in lighting. Very bright, wide spread, adjustable sparkles, and yes, reliable. Really, they thought of everything: a heater to warm the laser in cold weather (my previous Bliss light took 15 minutes to produce light at 10 ); easily adaptable to low voltage lighting system (though you have to cut off the connector on the light to splice it into your system); a nice small tree adapter (costs extra but reasonable) with 3 screws; a flat surface mount and a strong metal stake for yard placement. Plus, this is an incredibly small light so it's not some bulky thing in your yard or on the side of your tree. Ok, so if you really want a spectacular sight (different strokes for different folks) like myself, purchase more than one. I have a huge Ash tree (90" circumference) that I placed 7 of these all around on the side of the tree. The effect is beyond spectacular, in fact, I've never seen anything like it! Forget the price just go for it--you won't be sorry. And yes, they ARE reliable. But, read on:The low-voltage converter that comes in the box puts out between 12.04 vac and 12.48 vac. If you hook it up to your low-voltage system make sure that you have at least that. The lights will not work properly on reduced voltage re: under 11.50 vac (like on the end of a long run with other lights). I had to run a separate 12AG 70' line from the multi-tap transformer in my garage out to the tree. I decided to use the 13 vac tap to slightly over-voltage the lights and "see" 13.03 vac at the lights. I'm using the very nice "HUB" from Volt to hook the lights and supply line together which doesn't require silicone nuts and delivers the same voltage to all the lights (a great invention). The lights work beautifully at this voltage and in fact I couldn't be more thrilled. So, GREAT price, GREAT quality, GREAT product. WOW! 5
