Description

  • Works great in either filled or empty conduit
  • Best for use in up to 2 inch conduit
  • TWO LEADER OPTIONS: comes with either a 360 swiveling flexible metal leader (580 lb. strength) or a non-conductive glow in the dark leader (380 lb. strength)
  • FASTER, EASIER PULLS: low friction design allows the tape to easily glide through the conduit without binding at turns, joints or couplings
  • SPIRAL EXTRUDED POLYMER design does not rust and reduces the amount of effort required to push or pull the fish tape through EMT, IMC, rigid, or PVC conduit
  • DOES NOT RUST
  • EXTREMELY FLEXIBLE: Combining the strength of steel fish tape with greater -flexibility than fiberglass fish tapes, this fish tape will not break when folded

Customer Reviews

Worked as expected. It worked.4Warehouse inspection, the worst case as of yet.Well, the item was never inspected. Although the "Inspection Sticker" is posted on the bag, someone dropped the ball. Why would anyone want to buy a broken Fishtape without the loop at the tip. Clients don't buy things just for looks, Functionality is the Key.1Some improvements over standard fish tape, but may not be better for everyone.Overall, I like it. I like that it's a non-conductive polymer with a sturdy metal lead. It does the job.But it's just a little different from the generic fish tape I've been using, and I don't know how I feel about it yet. It gets the job done, and it fixes some irritations of a traditional fish tape but then has things that I worry might become a source of frustration.I don't know that I'm thrilled about the shape of the tape -- a braided polymer rope, rather than a flat metal strip. On the one hand, it seems like it isn't quite as sturdy as a flat metal tape when you're trying to thread it into tight spaces, but on the other hand, it doesn't slip into cracks and bind up, and anywhere that the tape can be the lead can follow when you're winding it back, which is good. The lead is also different than the standard S-hooks and paperclip bends that I'm used to. It's just a little metal loop on a flexible braided wire. You could thread a smaller wire into the loop, but if it were something thicker (e.g., coaxial cable), you'd have to use baling wire or something to tie it together.4Really Great--Puts the Old Standards to Shame. It's really great that technology has caught up in the home improvement tools areas. We struggled for years with steel fish tape on a reel that bent in the wrong places, was flimsy when you didn't want it to be, and inflexible when you needed to get around tight spaces. This innovative, reel of braided, polymer fish tape is really a blessing. We found it really easy to work with, and it saved us a lot of time and frustration.About the only issue that had us scratching our heads, at first, was the rather small opening for threading through the wire we wanted to run. It was a little too small, so my partner figured out a way to jerry-rig it by using a thinner wire through the loop, and then attaching that wire to the cable we were running. Once we got that all figured out, using this reel of fish tape was a breeze. The polymer composition of the tape, plus the braiding for reinforcement, looks like it will be very sturdy and will hold up over time (even though the tape, itself, is polymer, the leader is a flexible metal, which aids in guiding the tape into tight spaces--plus, it's the front end of the tape that is going to get bumped and banged up the most, since it is up-front and center during the the running process). This tool may seem a little pricey, but, compared to hiring a contractor to do the work for you, this piece of equipment is very cost effective. Plus you get the added satisfaction of doing a job yourself and doing it to your standards. We highly recommend this Southwire Tools Simpull Electrical Fish Tape. We've already spread the word to our DIY friends, and they can't wait to try it for themselves.5WOW, ACTUALLY WORKS !!Used it to run 60' of wire in an underground pipe that I repaired for a pole sign. Struggled with my best metal fishtapes for several hours, but they could not make all the bends. Ordered this one and what a breeze; does not kink, is much stronger that it looks, and can be "pushed" better than any metal fishtape ! Spool rolls out and winds back in with no effort, like "butter", you won't beleive it ! Went back to my shop and scrapped 3 of my metal fishtapes as they are now useless now that I have this ! You won't be dissapointed !!5Good toolGood tool5Best thought out product I have seen in a long timeThis is one of the best thought out products I have seen in a long time and clearly improves on the "fish tapes" it replaces. The "fish line" itself is a plastic coated twisted composite that allows it to bend, but is sturdy enough to be "pushed" through the wall, conduit, or where every you are trying to fish your line/wire/whatever. Very easy to use on conduit, but flexible enough to use elsewhere. The end of the line is very well engineered - using a swivel attachment to the line itself then a length of twisted cable which is attached to an all metal leader, which if of a design to allow easy attachment to the line or whatever you are trying to fish - or a separate "string" to use to pull the final item back through the conduit, wall, or whatever. My fist job for this fish tape was the clearing out of a dryer vent, which had several bends in it - the tape easily followed the contours of the vent pipe and the leader was easy to attach to a set of rags, that I was using to clean the pipe. Sort of like pulling a patch through a gun barrel. Made short work of this normally lengthy process. I was impressed!A much needed improvement on tapes of old which tended to bend, and then not straighten out, or of the ones that did not have the stiffness needed to push them into unusually tough areas.A well engineered product that should be in everyone's assortment of tools.5Non conductive... well constructed!! What ...Non conductive...well constructed !! What more can you ask for !!5light weightlight weight and works great5A step up from the older flat types I always usedI have the 75 foot version, perfect for the work I needed to do at home. I have always used the flat metal type fish lines and wondered how this would compare, both good and bad. Overall, after getting use to it I definitely like it.The braiding and thicker cable definitely keeps this from getting stuck in small edges or crevices that would take you sweat and time to wiggle loose. The downside is that it sometimes is a bit harder to force through certain areas where you were used to pushing the flat fish flush against the wall. Once you get the hang on twisting it, like a corkscrew, it really slides easily. The end I have seen before and it does not have the normal hook a lot are used to. This is a fisheye type. You will need to tie something through this or use lots of tape which defeats the purpose.Trick: What I do is attach a thinner and very strong wire through the fish eye. I then run the tape to wherever I need and attach the wire I am trying to run to the end of the thin and strong one. A quick pull through and done. This uses the benefit of the fish and eye hole and already has the route done. These are made mainly for PVC type pipe runs and fishing. It did ok behind insulation and drywall. But the material is made for slick pipes. Even bends are quickly negotiated. This wound up easily with no tangles or kinks. The end and the braided part seem to be attached together well and can be disconnected. This allows for other ends to be attached. I never found any other ones but it is a neat idea to have different end types.I will look to longer models of this brand it I require them. While a bit more, the non breakable and non bendable material, plus being slick, is a step up.5
