    Litle but Mighty This lamp is fabulous for those of us who need a little extra light for our computer desks! I do a certain amount of word processing, and this is just the size to light up the keyboard and the copy. It does not burn up with the 40 watt bulb I have in it. I don't spend hours at the computer, so the little extra light is perfect. My desk is small and this fits perfectly. I am so happy with it! 5Really bad I am extremely disappointed with this lamp. The first one I bought started malfunctioning after a month: it would randomly blink and then turn off and would not work for a while. The frequency of these events increased over time. At first I though it was the light bulb but the same happened after changing bulbs. Amazon sent me a replacement, which worked just fine for about 2 months, but now the same problem started to happen with the new lamp! 1Perfect - - does JUST what I wanted. I put it atop my wall cabinet to provide a little light at night. Great Value. Perfect - - does JUST what I wanted. After having the lamp for several weeks, it stopped working. I don't know what happened. I didn't drop it or do anything out of the ordinary. It just stopped. I tried new light bulbs to no avail. It doesn't work. Now it's too late to return. Did they have a timer so it stopped working once I could not return it? 1Good light for the money - use a CFL bulb for cool to touch operation I am always puzzled when I read some of the product reviews here on AMAZON. Take this product, for example ... "Basic Metal Desk Lamp" ... that's what this is, a basic desk lamp, what else do you want for about $11??I purchased two of these lamps. I use EcoSmart 60W Equivalent 5000K Spiral CFL Light Bulb, Daylight (4-Pack) bulbs and get more than enough light for my 24x24 photography light tent.Depending on the type of bulb that you use, yes, the lamp will get hot (not rocket science). I had these lamps on for nearly an hour and the metal was barely warm to the touch.The entire lamp weight about 2 pounds - the majority of the weight is in the base. With the goose neck turned as far down as possible, the lamp dose not tip and does not feel unstable.The power cord is about 5 feet in length - I'm not certain how much longer it should be?!Oh, and for those that say it arrived damaged, etc. ... contact AMAZON and send it back! There is no fee and very little inconvenience. AMAZON has been very good with customer service, in fact, lone of the few companies that I actually get real customer service. (both of my lamps arrived undamaged and brand new, each in it's original container. 4Seriously, guys? Two problems. It lights up just fine. The two issues I have with it though:1. Only the top half of the tube is flexible. The bottom half is just a straight metal tube covered in ridged plastic.2. This thing does not have balance. On most angles it falls over and knocks things off my desk. It's frustrating.Just keep these in mind if you're thinking about having this at a desk: You're probably going to have to place something heavy on it so that it doesn't fall ovr. 2AWESOME! I would definitely recommend purchasing this lamp! 5Great value, brighter than others with a 60W bulb capacity I bought this desk lamp for my Mother who has macular degeneration needs a strong light that she can adjust close to what she's working on to read her bills and write out her checks each month. This desk lamp worked perfectly for her, other similar portable battery operated LED desk lamps I bought her were not bright enough for her to read bills and write checks.Even with the corded plug-in desk lamps of this design most allow only a 20w or 40w (or LED equivalent) bulb. This lamp takes a 60w (or LED equivalent) bulb and is brighter. I bough the 4 pack of Philips B01AHLY6WO 4pk 8.5W=60W LED Soft White A19 Bulbs for $5.37 and they were great bulbs at a great value.Summary: If this works for my 81 year old mother with macular degeneration it'll work for you :) 5Lamp is a fine product for 12 Bucks, and comes with a metal shade, but the base could be heavier. This lamp is a fine product for 12 Bucks, a good, basic unit with a sturdy rocker switch and a sturdy metal shade. My last lamp had a plastic shade which melted from the heat of the bulb seconds after I turned it on - and it had cost me twice as much. My only specific complaint about it is that the base is too light, making the lamp top-heavy. It will fall over easily if the neck of the lamp is adjusted too far out of center. ...As for a general complaint about almost all lamps advertised on Amazon: They rarely state the size of the bulb that is needed, and when they do, its not clear to me what it means. Usually it's a completely unfamiliar designation that I can not relate to what will actually fit. This one lists that it 'Uses 1 x 60W Type A Medium Base Bulb'. Is that a 'normal household sized bulb?' It kind of seems like that may be it, but I'm not an expert on bulb sizes, obviously, nor could I find any sizing guide on the page. (I have orded two other lamps from Amazon and they each used a different kind of bulb, none of them familiar to me, and none of them 'normal household' bulbs.) In the end, I always end up ordering extra bulbs from the 'Frequently Bought Together' section, hoping it will be correct. I'll live, but they really could make it easier on the bulb-buying public. For the record, this one thankfully uses Normal Household Bulbs, (as were the ones I ordered from the Frequently Bought Together section.) 4No complaints with this desk lamp and I highly recommend it, if you are just looking for a ... I purchased the cheapest desk lamp there was to put my new smart-bulb in. For this purpose, I give it 5 stars after factoring the price. The neck is bendable and there is a simple on/off switch at the base of the lamp. The bulb I'm using is a Type A LED bulb so it does not get hot at all. No complaints with this desk lamp and I highly recommend it, if you are just looking for a basic light source. 5
