Customer Reviews

This item worked just like expected, honestly I was impressed with nicely everything fit.. I have quite a bit of experience with 2.5 to 3.5 adapters for SSD's. However in the past I had generally always used the free adapters that come bundled with SSD drives. With the most recent SSD I purchased though I didn't get a free adapter so I purchased this one and I can honestly say that this adapter seems to fix/work so much better than the free ones I have used in the past. I have used quite a few too. Since I work in IT for a living I have installed quite a few SSD's and compared to your average adapter this one is clearly superior.I didn't attempt to actually mount two drives in it though so I can't comment on that. However I assume that would work just as well based on my current experience with using just one drive in the adapter. 5High quality, but can cause problems with shorter cables I was quite impressed with the nickel-plated piece I received. I was just expecting the usual metal, but this was very high quality. My new SSD fit in perfectly, and I love the access holes for the screwdriver. Everything fit great. My one gripe is that this holder centers the drive, shifting over the connectors from the normal spot a 3.5" drive has them. I have a Dell Precision T7500 that has a very slim margin between the power connectors for drive 0 & drive 1. It nearly didn't fit. There was a bit more play in the SATA cable, but it could also be a concern. If you have plenty of cabling, or if you need the density that comes with putting two 2.5" drives into one 3.5" slot, then go for this holder. But be careful if your system expects all the drive connectors to be aligned. 4Solid Bay Converter This bay converter is a single piece of metal and feels rock-solid. It's nice to rest assured that your expensive SSD is securely fastened in place. All the necessary hardware came with it as well, which is great. One note for Dell users: if your computer uses the blue plastic Dell Hard Drive Caddies, this converter may not work as-is. I have an Optiplex 745 and the caddies on mine have a small tab that blocks the front of the hard drive. This isn't an issue with the arrangement of a 3.5" drive, but doesn't work with this converter and where it places the 2.5" drive. I used my dremel to saw off the plastic tab and it was good to go. Just FYI. 5Great bay converter I have a Corsair 800D and on the bottom, it has two slots for HDDs. I wanted to put my SSD down there, but the included converter with my SSD wasn't large enough for the included rails on the 800D and the front of the bay would flop down onto my HDD. So I eventually taped it and forgot about it.I then found this and was very excited. When I received it, it's quality is great. It's black on its exterior and does have silver on the inside. It's solid though and doesn't feel cheap at all. Installing my SSD into it was a little bit of a challenge at first since I was using a kind of large screwdriver. Got a smaller one that could fit through the holes and everything then went smooth. I put it back into my case using the 800D's rails and it was snug at first, but fit great. Love it and feel it's well worth it since it can fit another SSD along with its build quality. 5Silverstone Tek SSD tray x two! At first, you wouldn't think there'd be much to say about a SSD 2.5 inch hard drive tray adapter but the Silverstone Tek SSD tray has enough about it that I could keep a review going on this for 2 pages! I'm not going to do that but I must say that this SSD tray adapter is the best I've ever owned, and I've owned a few.I had taken some pictures to illustrate the design features of the tray but I've never posted pictures on Amazon for a review and now, I'm not sure I can even do that if I wanted to. So if I can't post the pictures, (2), you'll just have to take my word for it when I say this tray is designed to suit several different kinds of mounting preferences. That is, you can secure the SSD into the tray using the SSD's 4, predrilled/tapped, Screw holes, (most 2.5" SSD s have 2 on each edge), or, you can secure it using the 4 Screw holes on the bottom of the SSD if you prefer that.Of course, Silverstone has been around for a while so you can expect some very good quality workmanship and materials. With the tray, they include enough screws to mount two SSD's, and 4 screws to mount the tray itself to your computer's hard drive bay. What's really great is that the Silverstone Tek SSD tray gives you the ability to mount 2 SSD's, one on top of the other with space between the 2 in order to maintain good air circulation and keep them cool. When I first bought the Silverstone Tek SSD tray, I only had one SSD to place in it. I mounted the SSD using the SSD's edge holes and placed it in the tray so that it was suspended off the bottom and secured by the side mounting brackets. There's about a half inch of space between the bottom face of the SSD and the surface of the tray underneath it. The air flow/circulation for the drive was excellent. However, it wasn't too long before I found myself adding a 2nd SSD to my computer. I have a Corsair 500R computer case and the case has 2 large hard drive mounting cages. I had removed one of the mounting cages and in the one I had left, I had installed two, 1 TB hard drives, and at the time, one 500 GB SSD.So now I added the new/2nd SSD to the same tray without having to add the 2nd cage for the Corsair case. That was a good thing because the 2nd cage would've mounted on top of the first and completely block the airflow of the 2 front case fans. When I mounted the 2nd SSD to the Silverstone Tek SSD tray, I mounted it using the 4 edge screw hole positions as I did with the first one. With both SSD's mounted, there was still plenty of room for great airflow and circulation between the 2 SSD s. In my case, Corsair supplies slide-n-lock hard drive shelves. The Silverstone Tek SSD tray simply snaps in place on one of the shelves and then I can slide it in to the bay cage. In other words, the Silverstone Tek SSD tray is correctly sized for standard 3 1/2 inch computer hard drive bay mount. This is a top-quality product, and I have no doubt it'll do the job for anyone who needs one. I'm sure all wind up going to a 100% SSD drive computer set up at some point. I have no doubt that I'll be buying more of these trays in the future.Rich 5Not great but will work for some Picked up three of these as I have a large collection of 128 SSDs for some crazy reason. Holds SSDs just fine, looks fine, BUT a few things to keep in mind.1) if you have a case that uses tool-less HDD cages, you will most likely have an issue. Mine would not hold these correctly so I had to modify the cage to accommodate. Not ideal but I made it work.2) I know others have said this as well but power cables will be a problem depending on your PSU. Mine comes with three or four Sata power ports all in a chain. I have to really work them to fit because they are so close together.Good if you don't think you will have issues like above but I will most likely eat this purchase to save the headache of getting a return and find single converters. Yes that will take up more space but at least I will know I am not damaging my power ports on the SSDs 2A Must For Desktop SSD Upgrades If you are upgrading from a HDD to a SSD on your desktop computer this bay converter is a must. I bought this product to install a Samsung 840 Pro 512GB 2.5-Inch SATA 6Gbps Solid State Drive (MZ-7PD512BW). The HDD case on a PC has an extra inch of space on the sides so adding this product to your setup allows you to easily add a 2.5 inch SSD to your PC. It accepts up to two solid state drives and keeps them secure and safe in your PC chassis. Feels like it is made of quality materials and seems like it will last a lifetime.Better to have your SSD in a sturdy case than letting it lay on the floor or motherboard of your PC right? Get this product! 5Love it when something works perfectly! This converter is perfect fit for my Samsung EVO in a Dell tower. Keep the following in mind: I am a retired senior, not a tech guy. That said, the install of this tray converter took all of 7 minutes. That's from taking off the case side to its being reinstalled. Read talk in reviews about the need for a magnetic screwdriver to get the "tiny" screws in the edges of the SSD. Nonsense. People, hold any small screwdriver vertical. Put the screw on it. Take the mount in your left hand and hold it vertical. Insert screw and tighten. Repeat three times. Done. This mount gets five stars. Period. Has everything you need. Oh, and don't bother buying the Samsung EVO as a kit. I did. The mounting plate in the kit is worthless. Plus the connecting cables in your current box attach just fine. Get the bare drive kit if you have a desktop PC to convert and buy this mount/converter. If it was any easier the drive would install itself.Don't know if I will use this mount to install a second SSD, but I have saved the extra screws just in case. 5Works As Described I needed one of these to test out a 2.5" SSD I'd acquired. To be clear, I'm only using this with a single 2.5" SSD so I've not been able to test doing two at once. There's no money in the budget to get a second one and I'm using a mechanical hard drive to support file storage. The adapter fit perfectly in my Dell XPS 8700. The only thing to note is that you may have to turn it upside down in a position you'd not really expect to get it to go in properly. As it is, the way the SSD fit actually made it easier to connect the cables so I'm happy. The screws came along with it for two 2.5" drives and then the bigger ones for mounting inside the PC. It's pretty cheap cut steel, but then again the price is low and all it really has to do is keep the drive in place without cutting off all air and frying it. The open spaces look like they'll do it fine. Very happy. 5Straightforward Bay Converter That Works What can I say? It's a relatively straightforward device. It fit the case we were working with, though stuck out and could only be secured with two instead of four screws. That is by no means a fault of the device, but the design of the case.I took off a start because of the way the SSD screws secured the SSDs. If you have large fingers and are without a magnetic screwdriver, it is going to be difficult to hold the bay converter, the pliers you'll need to hold the screws, and the screwdriver. That being said, I was able to get them in with minimal effort since my hands are small. The easiest way was to place the SSD in the converter and turn it on its side. Then, hold the screw in with your fingers (or pliers) after getting it through the hole. Finally, screw it in. You'll see what I mean when you get it, and this shouldn't deter you from purchase. It works well. 4
