PaperweightI bought this thinking I could use it with dual monitors. Nope. Downloaded everything according the website (it comes with a CD but who has those on their laptops anymore?) and still nothing. After spending several days playing with it, it still doesn't work. I have simpler setups that work so much better. I don't really need this headache. I have a 2018 Macbook Pro with twin Acer B286HK monitors running 4K.1DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCTThis product came, was compact and looked great. I plugged it in, set it up with my monitors and everything seemed amazing.....for the first 4 hours. After that the monitors no longer worked. After 8 hours of troubleshooting and looking around on the internet it appears it is a VERY common occurrence and is a hardware issue with the product. To top it off you are supposed to contact SIIG regarding the issue. SIIG DOES NOT respond. After waiting 2 weeks with multiple tickets I received no response. Had high hopes for this product but it has only greatly impaired my productivity with my work.1Save your USB ports!If you're like me, you would like to continue using your laptop for at least the next 5 years (because nursing school makes me poor, for instance). The wear and tear of plugging my peripherals into my USB ports every time I had to take my laptop to class was starting to make me nervous--not to mention the cord nest that was growing on my desktop kept holding meetings about rising up and/or world domination. That nest still exists but I've got it all tied up and gagged and only one cord ever gets to move. This product is the perfect solution to imprisoning and subjugating your peripherals. The only problem I've had so far is that my Huion drawing tablet will flat NOT work on the USB ports. I take that with me when I go to class, though, so I don't stress plugging it directly into my laptop. Expect Huion drawing tablets to be the key to the electronic takeover, though.4Difficult to Use with MacBook, Works When SetupThe difficult part of using this product, is finding the right version of the DisplayLink software/driver. There is a particular version that works with MacOs 10.15.2, and it is not the latest, nor the Alpha. It s some older release (Version 5.2.1 Beta). Crazy. Try figuring that out bff rom any help, anywhere (ok, I got a hint from someone s comments in the help forum). But From the product, I had no idea I even needed DisplayLink. SIIG needs to provide more clear support.Btw, I gave this 5 stars for value, because I picked up a used version. Works fine, no scratches.Other than that, be aware this will NOT charge your MacBook. I was looking for a one plug-in solution, but I will stick with two for now (this plus charger)4Thank God it WorksAfter buying and returning MULTIPLE "universal" docking stations that were "guaranteed" to work with both my work PC - HP Elitebook and my personal PC - HP Omen, I finally found something that worked. It worked immediately! No having to go through the roundabout with tech support like I had to with the other products. None of the other 5 models I bought worked. This one works like a dream and I haven't had any issues. Thank God, this personal project of mine was beginning to drive me a little batty and I was getting sick of other products that lied and said they would work with my models. Works like a dream!5Works great for MacBook Pro and MacBook AirThe only issue (overcome-able) is that when I tested the Ethernet connection, I was getting 50 Mbps up and 25 Mpbs down (My cable speed is 450 down/25 up). I was thinking the 2 additional monitors might be eating up a lot of bandwidth causing this issue. Well, long story short, go to SYSTEM PREFERNECES -> NETWORK -> USB3.0 5K Graphic Docking -> ADVANCED -> HARDWAREChange from AUTOMATIC to MANUALSet to 1000Click ok and applyBOOM - 400/25 achieved5Not cheap, and doesn't have a "docking" cradle - but the electronics work great and I'm running 2 monitors just fine.It's not cheap, but it does work just fine for me. Be sure to install their drivers. In my case, I have an older Surface pro Docking station, with only one DisplayPort outlet, but want to run two monitors. The daisy-chaining of displayport sounds great, but you have to buy very expensive monitors that actually support that (mostly don't have pass through ability). So, I still use the Surface Pro docking station for charging, and then keep this righ behind that, and plug this rig's USB plug into the Surface pro Plug, and everything works. It's kind of impressive actually - I didn't know USB-C had this much capability.5Worked for a little, then major issues. No support at all, does not honor warranty, do not buy.This worked great for about a year (This has a 2yr warranty mind you). After a year, it started to disconnect constantly. I have two laptops, 1 a Lenovo Thinkpad X1 Extreme Gen 2, worked fine and now disconnects. My second laptop is a MSI GS65 Stealth, same exact issue. I thought maybe it was the cable, so I purchased a $40 Belkin Thunderbolt 3 cable, same issue. Good luck getting support. The MFG doesn't respond to your warranty requests at all. They just ignore you. There is NO support at all for this, let me make that clear.2installation hassles and screen flickersI have two Dell P2715Q 4K monitors and bunch of other usb devices connected to a MacBook Pro (mid 2017). Was looking for a docking station that can support dual displays over display port and can let me hook my USB devices with as little wires as possible and this looked like a good candidate though a little expensive.There are a few configuration steps required 1. The new MacBook doesn t have a CD drive, so the packaged CD is useless. You can install drivers from dualLink website (lookup drivers using serial number and install latest version).2. When the two displays were connected the output resolution was 3840 x 2160 and everything looked tiny. If you go through the user manual for this device, you will see that for 4K displays, it is recommended that you change the resolution to 1080p from display preferences(scaled resolution) to get the screen resolution right.At this point everything looks good - the display are bright and crisp and with good frame rate. Totally worth the money.However, after 5 mins of use I started seeing two issues -1. Frame rate on one of the monitors started to lag (you can tell by the mouse pointer movement). Both my monitors are connected via DisplayPort2. The screen goes black for a second and comes back on. Not sure what the cause of this flicker is but it does happen from time to time.For the amount of money you pay for this docking station, this is not the experience one expects.3Works great andThis thing is awesome! Has the number of HDMI ports that I was looking for and why there aren't more options like this on the market is a mystery to me. Great addition to my 2017 MacBook Pro rig with USBC. Only gripe is I wish that there was a USBC port that could power my macbook from this dock. I have to run 1 USBC for the video/audio feed and then power my macbook with the apple power adapter. Would love it if I could connect and power with a single USBC cable.5
