    good quality brace for exercise I purchased this one as a replacement for the previous model i bought about 3 years ago. so i was long overdue for a new back brace. i purchased the previous one for running 6 months after i had back surgery for a herniated disk. I was recently diagnosed with scoliosis after the back pain returned. after visiting the chiropractor regularly i am back to running and i got this back brace just in time. this is a major improvement to the earlier model, and actually very comfortable. my old one was losing its velcro grip, but this one has been staying in place well and doesn't loosen during my run. i would purchase this one again. 5Very sturdy and so very comfortable I bought a size bigger than I thought I would need, and I am grateful for my foresight. Fits snug, as it should. Very sturdy and so very comfortable. I had a bulging disk and this belt didn't put pressure on it the way traditional belts had. It is bulky to wear under clothing but chaffs a little on bare skin. I recommend an undershirt, a thin one if you are in a warm area and working up a sweat. 4belt works great i bought it for an employee at work and they have been using it. it has helped his degenerating back fairly well. i would buy from this company again, item was as promised and shipped quickly. 4After he started wearing it his backache got better and was able to resume his daily activities Product was delivered in time. As a Physician, I bought it for patient who could not afford it and had previous Spine Surgery few Years back. After he started wearing it his backache got better and was able to resume his daily activities.I am glad that he will be able to enjoy his Christmas with relief from backache. 5Good purchase in my book My son is a member of his schools marching band. He plays the snare drum and between the weight of that and the weight of the harness its almost 50 lbs. He started having back problems so I decided to try this product out. My son informs me that it take a lot of the pressure off his back. Good purchase in my book. 5Good, but ... Use these belts to help support lower back while skiing. They are good at what I use them for, and am mostly happy w/ them. The "straps" are very resistant - exerting a good amount of pressure, which lends to a feeling of supporting the lower back. I am not overly happy with the "staying" power of the straps, however. They do stretch after some use, and, my first belt - 2 ski seasons old ( one season was a short one due to lack of snow ) is ready to be thrown away. The Velcro end of one of the straps lost a lot of its gripping ability, as well. 4Excellent product! Super fast free delivery even over Christmas Excellent product! Very lightweight yet put perfectly together for strong constant support. Takes the permanent pain away and my back feels like it did before the injury. I was afraid there were no good braces available at a reasonable price, this product is excellent at a fantastic price. I read the reviews, do order a size larger then you think you need and you'll be glad you did for a perfect fit with room to grow. Just so very satisfied with this product. As a professional union Stagehand I was afraid my ruptured back would forever hold me back in a very physical profession, this brace gave me my back back and I'm so much more confident and back to what I was before the injury. Truly takes the constant pain away, I look forward to wearing it when I put it on. 5Does not stay in place, poor velcro design, support is not amazing. I've used this brace for over a year, about 2-3 months wearing it everyday. It is not worth its price and shock doctor should be ashamed that they are selling such an inferior product for nearly double the price of what many other better back braces cost. The biggest problem is Shock Doctor's fetish with its own branding. It has slapped a big patch of its logo with a smaller non-removable tag in the front of the brace, taking away arguably the most valuable velcro areas. You either over tighten to stick past the logo patch, or suck it up with a loose left side. The velcro tightening straps also cannot overlap each other, further limiting your options when putting on this brace. The top and down orientation is also unnecessary in my opinion, and further shows their lack of design forethought. I've worn this brace upside down and right side up many times to compare, and the difference is minimal. The three plastic support beams look tough, but they just don't do a whole lot. Overall you can't get this brace to be very tight, no matter how hard you tug or suck in your own stomach while putting it on. I have fractured discs in my l5 and l6, and I sometimes consider not using the brace despite the pain because putting it on is SUCH A PAIN. When you sit down, it pops off. When you stand up, it pops off. I've cleaned the velcro over and over again, manually picking out hair and other debris to no improvement in adhesiveness. The designer of this product would not recommend their loved ones to use this product if they had any experience with it themselves. Shock Doctor is a "luxury" brand in this field, or at least they see themselves that way, and their products have become more form over function. 2Surprisingly comfortable I selected this back support based on reviews so I hope this helps others. I tried about 6 back supports and the felty the most solid. I just gave it the true test and used it on a three hour hike. It feels stiff at first, but was surprisingly comfortable. I was sure I would have to take it off, but some slight adjustments and it worked well. Well worth the extra cost. 5A good back support but needs thicker velcro This provided just the right amount of support and flexibility that I needed because I do lots of manual labor. Unfortunately the velcro did not hold up for very long so I'm not able to use this brace anymore. 3
