    Must have!The Shapton stones are a challenge for some - particularly for those of us new to sharpening or who are only occasionally able to get into the shop (like we have to have a job to support our woodworking!). This thing is heavy and really helps get the stones to the right, or certainly a better, height for sharpening. I highly recommend it. If you think it's pricy think about it saving you one stone sliding off onto the floor! 5Does the trick beautifully.This isn't a must for Shapton Glass Stones, but it makes things easier. If you have the money, and are serious about making your knives sharp, it's worth it from the convenience standpoint alone. I knew this was overpriced, but love the Shapton stones and wanted the complete system. But the holder does not secure the stones snuggly. I have a set of Shapton's glass stones and they fit PERFECTLY. The holder is heavy (and I mean heavy) rubber surrounding a glass core. The whole things weighs several pounds. The stones plunk right on (or in) and don't move - at all - one bit. They are dead easy to put on, and you just pick them up to take them off. No screws, no adjustments. The holder stays right where you put it. It doesn't move any more on my counter (granite) than it does on the Shapton Pond glass surface.Definitely a "system" accessory.
