Very smooth feel. It cuts fairly quickly, I love the fact that no pre-soaking needed. I was able to refine the edges of my kitchen knives to the point where they were able to shave arm hair. This stone (4000 grit) is almost overkill for knives doing standard kitchen duty.The only con is stone is very low. My stone holder is barely able to hold it. I wish the manufacturer would double the thickness of the acrylic base. 5It's a Shapton Glass Stone......What more needs to be said. I love these stones. I use a 1000 and 16000 all the time. This one works the same. I flatten these stones with a diamond plate each time I use them (very quick touch-up that way). 5Very good stone. I use mostly Japanese knifeVery good stone. I use mostly Japanese knife, and Whetstone is necessary. I wish I bought this earlier. This stone save me a lot of time. Less soaking and can sharpen my knife in very short time. Make sure you always maintain the flatness of the stone. If you are in the culinary business like me, you should invest in good flattening stone. 5Wears great tooThis was a surprise. At 2000 grit, I thought it would be only good for finishing. But it is nice to use. 5Worth the price in my opinionConsistent, repeatable results. These stones are beautiful and will provide a lifetime of service. I got this stone along with the 500/1000/6000/8000/16000 in order to hone straight razors and tools. Will do kitchen knives as well. These came beautifully boxed directly from japan. I suggest getting the Shapton diamond lapping plate but it's not necessary for initial flattening. These stones are immaculately flat from the factory. 5
