Customer Reviews

Great stoneShapton quality stone looks long lasting splash n go out of the box 4The stone certainly works as intended, but needs to ...The stone certainly works as intended, but needs to be flattened often. It wears very quickly so be prepared to buy a second ones rather quickly. 3a little surprisedHello, I've been sharpening knives for ten years and I've used a ariety of abrasives including sand paper, polishing wheels, leather, diamond stones, ceramic, natural stones or just a rock. I own the expensive 16k grit shapton ceramic stone and found that the 220 is still very flat, comes nicely packaged ect. But the cons are it is not ceramic, it is a natural stone which is ground away kind of fast, and it does not sharpen as fast as a dmt black 220 xcoarse stone. That was my purpose in purchasing was to do this research 3Great StonesI really like these stones. They are FAST--save a lot of time. They fit the Shapton Glass Holder well. They clean up easily, and don't dish too bad. Easy to flatten on a diamond flattening plate. No need to pre-soak. When this one wears out, I'm definitely buying another. This is a must-have stone for me for re-shaping blade geometry and re-profiling edges. Works well on the newfangled powdered steels. I still use my Choseras for old-school carbon and stainless steels, but I could use these Shapton Glass Stones just as well. 5Fantastic Stone.Fantastic Stone... Shaped my Stainless Steel Hatchet within an hour out of the box; and has done many blades since then with amazing rapidity. I wish I had known of these stones many years ago ! A little pricey; but if you do a lot of sharpening, it's well worth the price. They are a bit fragile. One wrong-angled stroke or tap with a blade and it will chip. Be gentle. 5I'm a fanI like the slow wear properties of the lower grit Shapton stones. Excellent size. I wish they were thicker but for the price I certainly can't complain. 5Great stone cuts the knife instead of the other way aroundI've found that many low grit stones wear quickly and end up being worn away by the knife instead of wearing away the knife and making it sharp. Like all Shapton stones this model gets used up very very slowly and in turn sharpens my knife super fast. It is most highly recommended! 5
