a device like this has an abundance of connection possibilitiesGranted, a device like this has an abundance of connection possibilities. Mine should be simple, but isn't. I need to take the last installation option which, to quote their instructions is: "If no solutions listed are ideal for your TV, connect the TV SoundBox to your TV with an external microphone provided by Serene Innovations, at no charge, upon your request." I reached Customer Service after hours of trying, made the above claim and was told the documentation had been updated and I needed to pay for the microphone. I offered them the choice of sending me a microphone or receiving the whole thing back and getting the worst possible review. After a minute or so of silence, the phone hung up. This is the promised review.1Confusing directions!It took me quite a while to figure out which of the seven choices of installation I should use - and I'm pretty tech savvy! Sound is good on network TV, but I haven't been able to figure out how to her my Steaming Channels yet... Bummer, since I spend most of my viewing time on Roku. I tried going online to the Serene Innovations website, but couldn't find an answer.UPDATE - It's WORKING! Thanks to the Q & A section on the product page... I removed the red/white audio jacks from the CABLE BOX and plugged them directly into my TV audio out ports. Works on streaming channels now just fine!4Does not honor warrantyPurchased this product and both connection cords (RCA adapter and Digital Optical Cable) do not work. The RCA adapter has a short in it and the sound cuts out after only a few minutes. The digital optical cable cane with one of the tips broken off. When I contacted Serene Innovations to get new cords sent, they told me I would have to buy them and sent me a link to purchase. Makes no sense to buy a product and then have to buy the replacement cords to make it work. I have it plugged into a specific AC outlet rather than using the charging unit and then moving the main unit to where I want it. It stays next to where I sit to watch TV. I love that I can reach over and shut off the commercials quicker than using the TV remote mute . So I cant tell you how long it takes to recharge it. I bought it mainly because I am hard of hearing and got tired of being told to turn the tv down. charger and then an end table next to where I sit to watch TV.. My wife now asks me to turn it up rather than telling me to turn the tv volume down. Yay! IWhen I switch over to watch a Netflix movie it does not work. There is no sound from the speaker. I have to use the TV remote.and TV speaker to watch Netflix or Amazon movies5A Great GiftI got this for my father as an early Christmas gift this year. My dad is in his 70's and often times he has a harder time hearing things. When I visit over my parents house I would always notice my dad ha the TV as loud as a movie theatre. I also noticed that my mother, whom has no hearing issues tells at him to turn the damn tv down. They just celebrated their 50th anniversary and at times it's super funny to see them bicker. However, I knew that this was an issue. I saw one of these in a magazine and jumped on Amazon to check them out. I'm so glad I got this one, hands down it's fantastic! Myself and my father are super impressed with the quality of sound that this delivers! Clear as a bell all the way up on the volume. The wireless set is super light and has lasted for hours before a recharge. Super easy to set up, can connect directly to tv or a cable box. I think this device just saved my parents marriage! If you have someone with issues hearing the tv then I suggest you grab one of these for a Christmas gift! They and their family will love you for it!5Sound quality does not remain good for very long.Product worked great for about 3 months, then the sound quality sounded like it was scratchy and underwater, difficult to understand. We had bought 2 units, so switched off first transmitter to the 2nd one, and re-paired the 2 speakers to the newer transmitter. Speakers worked great again with switched transmitter, this time for 2 months, then the sound quality became terrible again. Tried switching from digital optical cable to RCA cables, did not work at all. Tried switching back to digital optical cable and PCM TV sound setting, still wouldn't work at all. My Mother wears hearing aids and her main complaint with the TV was not being able to "understand" what was being said, regardless of the volume. She was using the closed captions which, if you've ever tried to use that, is sketchy at best. When this product was recommended to me, I figured why not try it...as a Prime member I can always send it back. So, imagine my surprise (and delight) when my Mom, notoriously hard to please that she is, was very happy with it, says it works perfectly, and that she is finally able to hear the TV, understand what's being said, and enjoy watching again. I recommend this to anyone hard of hearing who is frustrated with not understanding the TV.5
