Must have handles!!You don't realize you need the handles until you don't have them. As a photographer, I have a few reflectors in different sizes/brands depending on the price they were, but this one I use the most. Your hands don't get as fatigued holding this as they do holding one without the handles, if that makes sense. If I'm working alone, it's much easier to hold the reflector and camera at the same time too.Good quality zippers, grips and material.5Discolored, Used, Longtime Selen's Customer & I will Never Purchase AgainI own several Selens products, including several parabolic softboxes. Bought this reflector, openend it, and made sure it folded alright, but it did not occur to me to unwrap the gold/silver reflector to inspect the white reflector, which I just found out is covered in stains, bluish in color + dirt. Unreal, like it was used as a tablecloth for a dinner party. 2 days outside of my warranty now it's too late to return and I own a piece of garbage. It's to tell in picture but there is a yellowish band of dirt/discoloration going through about 1/3 of the reflector.1Loved them. Good quality, love the holdI got these thinking, my current ones did not have translucent, I found it when I started looking. I loved the way you can hold these. I loved the size. I did not want to send them back, but I could not justify keeping them since my old ones worked admittedly less quality. I really wanted pained me to return them. I would highly recommend these. There is a vid to show how to fold them up. It helped. I still had a fight as with all of them. If you are a newbie like myself, I would say by all means get these. These were harder to fold. It would have been a stronger metal support.5Reflections on a great reflectorVery happy with this reflector! It's huge, and it takes a minute (and maybe a youtube video) to really get the hang of folding it up. LOVE that it has the handles though, makes it much easier to work with, especially at its size. Also nice that it has multiple options, though truth told I mostly use the white reflector. That said, if I need anything else, I've got it! Also almost big enough to double as a background (especially for close up portraits or kids?) but haven't used it for that either. Keep in mind- a big reflector outdoors becomes a SAIL in the wind, so be careful or I keep a string in the case with mine to tie it to something if using outside. Better still, have an assistant to hold it from blowing away (or into someone!)5Stained, with HairsI just received the reflector kit. Upon opening it, I immediately discovered a small scrap of fabric piping which fell off it. Where exactly on the reflector the manufacturer failed to sew it securely remains to be discovered. I also immediately discovered stains and human hairs on it. The stains are disappointing. The hairs are a testament to the manufacturer's inattention to basic hygiene. Worrisome. See attached photos.What really amazes me is that someone would sell to a photographer a piece of photographic gear assuming said photographer will be oblivious to obvious visible defects. What amazes me more is that someone would do so using such a public-facing medium as Amazon, and presume the internet-savvy photographer won't take pictures of it to publish for all the world to see. In the words of Science Officer Spock, "Fascinating."I gave it three stars, giving the kit the benefit of the doubt it might actually perform adequately. After using it, I'll update my review if it performs better or worse than 3/5.3Very sturdy and very compact!I bought this item not knowing what kind of quality I would get for less than $20.00. Boy was I impressed!! You get a well made, very sturdy product that when folded, it is only 10 inches round. What more can you ask for: a product that is well made, works, is very compact, easy and light to carry, and gets the job done for your photographic needs. it's got a firm handle with a tripod style hole so it can be firmly attached to a tripod or holder/reflector arm, or of course held by yourself or someone else. I have purchased previous triangular 5-1s in the same size in the past that were either too expensive and very large when folded down, or a cheaply made ones that were too flimsy to use effectively. I'm buying two more of these.5$16. Is there a mistake? I would pay 2x or 3x moreI am amazed at the quality of this product. Of course before buying it I had no idea how well it was made. But in this price point I figured it'd be something that would be somewhere between total garbage and something usable. I have used much more expensive items. In particular, Joe McNally endorsed and designed a very similar shape of teardrop reflectors by " luma something" and that had been on my wish list for some time. But at well over $100 it was just a wish. After receiving this I have removed that item from my wishlist and will be seeking this manufacturer for many more products. I used the McNally designed reflector and this product is as well made as it is. The McNally product have slightly different features but how they charge $100 more for a product is clearly due to his name and not the product. This reflector is just so well made. The material for the frame and the handle is thick and substantial. The handle is is rigid and allows the reflector to be held by the handle at any angle. It does not sag at the handle like other reflectors and allows me to hand hold this will shooting with my other hand. The other colors that go on to the frame are actually a pocket that zips up and slides onto the frame. The zip up pocket is black/white and gold/silver. To change colors, unzip slightly remove the pocket from the frame and turn it inside out and put it back on the frame for the other colors. With white diffuse being the color hard sewn to the frame. I was expecting a thin strip of Velcro that you would attach the needed color to. With that I would always have to constantly be stretching and readjusting. That is not the case with this product. The zip up pocket fits perfectly and when attached looks like it is hard sewn onto the frame and requires an examination to determine it is removable. The zipper has good sized teether and are sewn with a decent edge that prevent it from binding on the nylon material I can not say any more about how well made this product is. It is of such high quality that folding it and then subsequently letting it open, the material of the frame is thick enough that it springs open with quite a robust velocity and also putting it away takes more strength than you would think, mind you it's not enough that you would need assistance but again it's just doesn't meet the same requirements that other $16 items do. It is stored very conveniently in a bag. The price was so low that I ended up buying two that way if I needed to have silver and gold or black and white or any combination thereof I could do it. I could not be any more happier with this product as a matter of fact I will be seeking out this brand for all of my reflector purchases and needs.5Great value and almost a necessity for photographers shooting outdoors. Would highly recommend!Purchased this 5-in-1 reflector set (32 inch round version) for a kindergarten class photo shoot that I did last week. This is the first time for me using reflectors and boy, I wish I would have purchased these sooner. I love photographing outdoors but there are definitely times where you are not able to control the lighting...it's Mother Nature! With this, you now have the ability to direct or filter the sunlight as needed. Living the the Pacific Northwest, the weather/sunlight is unpredictable to say the least. The photoshoot was right around lunchtime, so the sun was out in full force. My assistant was able to hold up the white filter and disperse/soften the harsh sunlight over the subject's face. This made a world of difference. We also used some of the reflective sides as the sun was beginning to angle behind the subject.To summarize: This is a great purchase for any photographer shooting outdoors. It's easy to use and provides 5 different reflectors (one of which is a filter). I had no issues with folding it back up into the zippered case. Also, the handles are nice to have.5Good Quality Construction for the Price.A nice inexpensive reflector that appears to be of reasonable construction for the price.The basic "hoop" is a translucent diffusion material, great for softening a point-source light (just watch the temperature on incandescent lamps, it could catch fire!), with a zippered cover that has 4 bounce colors that can be brought to bear on the subject by reversing the cover and placing it back on the hoop.I bought one to try it out and will be buying more in the near future. Very handy for remote locations where the Sun is the only light source.I really like the molded plastic handles on the reflector; makes it much easier to control and fold. While the zippered pouch that holds the unit probably won't last long, it still is a good value for the price.5Will not fold and fit back into its caseIdk of mine is broken or what, but it will not got back into its case. I followed the directions and every time I try to twist it onto a figure 8 shape and then compact it, there s a big piece that bulges out. Definitely seems like a step is missing in the directions or mine is defective.. also don t know if this is normal or what, but mine gets stuck instead of completely popping out/unfolding3
