    No color when connected I was a bit worried based on the varied reviews. It seems that the unfortunate part is that no one mentions WHO (which vendor) they bought their cable from when they post their review. If we had this data, maybe we could figure out if only a certain vendor has the bad cables and certain vendors have good ones. I took a risk and bought from Hitgaming Video Games. I did this because it's fulfilled by Amazon, meaning that if there was an issue, I knew I'd be able to return it. I need this cable to be able to play, so I will try ordering from someone else and see what happens. 1Works... even if you think it doesn't Fast delivery, and works as advertised. I first I plugged the cables to the HDTV in my room, and the TV would not produce a picture or sound. I then plugged the cables into the HDTV in my living room, and the picture and sound came out clear. I did a quick Google search on this problem, and it turns out that the Sega Genesis outputted games at 240p, which is half the resolution of the CRT TVs which was 480i/p. The problem is 240p is such a low resolution, that it doesn't register on many HDTVs, which is why the picture and sound won't come through on some HDTVs. A work around is to try using a RF switch or an RCA Composite to HDMI output box to connect your console to an HDTV, if a direct connection between the console and TV doesn't produce any picture and sound. You can also just connect your console to an old school CRT TV. 5Sega Genesis (versions 2 & 3) AV cables, that work. My son who is about to have his 10th birthday on March 5th. Has put a Sega Genesis on his birthday list. He enjoys playing my Genesis from back in the ol' days. And wanted one. So, I got a Sega Genesis, second version. But it lacked the hook-ups. Just got these in the mail today. While he was at school. Plugged these in and used my power supply. These AV cables work just as good as my Sega brand AV cables! Sound and picture both are just as nice. Some people have mentioned in reviews that this item works but "has a adapter piece to use. And then it fits." Or even "These don't work." There could've been some rare defect with those customers purchase...? But most others have said they work great, just as I am! The 9pin plug does plug in tightly. But it's not too bad. And again....it works as you expect it to. And it is a good price for these AV cables. I recommend these to others wanting to get some AV cables for any 2nd or 3rd version Sega Genesis. I don't believe it plays on the first Genesis (with the headphone input on console). 5Didn't work Bought it for a Sega Genesis Model 2. The cord fit great but I only got a black screen out of it. My old RF cable got picture from the Genesis so it isn't the console and the input on my tv works for other game consoles so it is just a defective cord.EDIT: I found out later that the issue is kind of my tv. Genesis consoles have an inconsistent framerate that some tvs have issues with. So the issue is between my tv and the console, and not the cable. I am changing my rating from a 1 to a 5 because I have no way of knowing if the cable was good or bad. 5WASTE OF MONEY!!! DOES NOT FIT!!! WASTE OF MONEY!!! I bought this for my Sega Genesis 2 and it doesn't work. I read reviews and did some research to make sure this would fit it. Well mine does not. I'm glad it wasn't expensive. Really wished it worked. I couldn't get it to plug in all the way. Not worth it. Buy a different cord. 1Works perfectly I first bought the wrong size cable from another seller on here, so I made sure to verify that this was the right one and it works for Sega Genesis 2. It does! Now I can finally play Toe Jam and Earl once more. 5awesome cables did what i needed them to awesome cables did what i needed them to. sadly the RCA ends of the wires a very thine and i feel like they will end up breaking at some point. if they where thicker would definitely be a 5 2Works Perfect For Model 2 Sega Genesis I was a little bit nervous to buy this, because there were a lot of 1 star reviews stating that this cable didn't work for Sega Genesis Model 2. Well, I have a Model 2 Sega Genesis, and it works perfectly fine. It took a little bit of effort to connect to the back of the Sega (I had to use a small amount of force to push it in), so perhaps people just gave up too quickly when trying to hook it in. The picture quality is good, and the product has done exactly what it was supposed to do. No complaints. 5Lack of Stereo sound? I think not So I've been doing some browsing around for a new cable for my Sega Genesis ever since the RF switch got destroyed and I've stumbled across this AV cable.Back when I was young, I never knew the Sega Genesis had an AV cable for it. I've always thought that was a "Nintendo" thing since both the NES and SNES had those types of inputs (although the NES lacked the stereo sound), so I was stuck with the RF switch that comes with the Genesis. Little did I know that the RF switch only produced in mono (or as its said, mono with both speakers), so there was a lot of variations of music and sound effects that I missed out since none of the games went true stereo.I got this cable today and immediately got it hooked up to the living room TV, which is a 42" HDTV. Aside from the noticeable compression of the 480i quality that the Genesis can only produce, it ran just fine without any issues. I even popped in some games that I knew had stereo sounding music and effects (Sonic 3 and the Sega Compilation) and it make me glee with joy to know that every game that I was going to play was going to produce the full stereo sound quality that I missed out when I was young. It also puts me at ease to know that no matter what TV I use (let it be an HDTV or a classic tube TV), it'll work. 5The AV cables are not solid metal... ... The AV cables are not solid metal...they are this strange plastic or something coated in metal. I have had the pins actually break off in the TV and they are impossible to remove. You can break off the pins with very little effort. They work, just make sure you dont put pressure on them when they are in your TV or you are SOL....big time. I would pay a higher price for a higher quality but they are hard to find...no one shows images of the inside of the AV jacks. I only give it 2 stars because it works but once you break one because you have to lean around your TV to change a connection and break it off you will give it negative one million....it is a real bummer. 2
