    This product is actually better than I was anticipatingThis product is actually better than I was anticipating. It feels sturdy and has good weight to it. I am confident it will be an effective theft deterrent just by its looks and an effective preventative by its quality. I am extremely pleased!.5Buy this one - you're done looking.This doesn't feel cheap at all. The packaging it came in was Apple quality - someone put a lot of thought into a box for a lock. On security, it does the trick in a very simple, easy to use way. Sure, anyone with a mini bolt cutter could cut right through this, but for deterrence value, it's perfect. The cable length is perfect for locking to a table leg or locking loop (my library has them built in to study carrels). The cable is flexible enough that you can move the computer easily without having to touch the cable, but stiff enough that it doesn't look like you could break it without tools.5Is it really secure?I got this so I could work in a public place like a coffee shop or tradeshow booth and be able to leave to go to the bathroom. I suppose it is a small detterant to keep someone from just walking off with your laptop, but I don't really trust it. It can be hard to lock, and it feels like someone could easily break the locking mechanism (breaking the plastic on the laptop in the process). It also seems like every laptop lock uses the same keys (I don't know that for sure). And, if you slip this around a table leg, it would be pretty easy for someone to slide it off the bottom. Even if you used a cable mount, someone could unscrew it. So, no I really don't trust it, but it seems to be as good as any other lock out there as they all have the same issues. Given that, it is a good value for the money.3A Great Budget Priced LockI bought this because of the good reviews, and because it was a key lock instead of a number lock. I've watched a few videos on some of the other brand locks that have a dial, and they are really easy to pick. So, I bought this lock instead. It was a dollar more than the equivalent number lock, so its not breaking the bank.The lock itself is standard. Cable thickness is average. Scissors won't cut it, but a determined thief will probably have a pair of dikes or other cutting style tool with them. Laptop locks are deterrents, not foolproof protection. If you are that worried about your laptop being stolen, just carry it with you. In a normal area where you won't be leaving it for days on end, I'd get this lock. Easy to use, easy deterrent, and makes me feel just that much safer leaving my laptop tethered to the desk.One note. The laptop cable has a loop on one end, so you need to loop it around something solid. A chair leg isn't a solid fixture, nor is a desk leg. So, pick wisely. 2 keys included.5Solid basic security cable for your laptopIt does exactly what it is supposed to do. There is nothing special to say. I use it so I can keep my work laptop on my desk at work overnight sometimes. But it would work well if you are also going to be at like a Starbucks and need to leave the table a minute to use the restroom and don't have someone to watch your computer on the table. Or if you are at a computer workshop and want to leave your laptop on the table in the room during lunch break.5Affordable Piece of MindThis product is economical and simple to use. Overall I am happy with it and have been finding it a good value.I have used it for a couple months now to tether my PC laptop when working in coffee shops and restaurants. So far the lock mechanism has held up and proven mechanically sound. What I like is that the cable isn't too stiff so it curls up nicely and slides into the laptop bag for transport. Also, I don't have issues with a wild, stiff cable flexing all over the table while I am trying to work. The swivel on the end by the lock makes it so that the lock mates easily with the laptop, and the cable rests naturally on a table. This particular design allows for a good range of motion when mating the lock with the key-slot on the laptop. The cable is rubber coated but the coating doesn't stick to itself so the cable loops around furniture and thru it's own end-loop smoothly.While given the right tools and time anyone could probably cut a security cable, this is one more added deterrent to keep my laptop safe while I step away for a moment.5Not for Dell Inspiron 5570Bought a new Dell Inspiron 5570 and this cable lock. When I tried to install it onto my Dell it did not fit. It is about 1/16" too wide. Turns out Dell now uses a smaller locking port on some, if not all, of their laptops.This is Dells fault, and mine for not researching this issue before hand. Lesson learned. For my model laptop only the Nobel Lock TZ18T or Kensington N17 will work.Hope this helps someone from making the same mistake as I did.Regarding the lock, it is a solid looking and feeling cable and lock. 4 out of 5 stars for not posting some kind of compatibility statement regarding Dell Laptops.4Easy to use and fit my Dell laptop perfectly.I got this 6 foot security cable to keep my laptop from walking away while I was keeping it at a non-profit. I'm not worried about theft... just want to make sure nobody "borrows" it and forgets to put it back. These cables will keep such a thing from happening, but they are not a fool proof theft protection. None of them are. with a screwdriver and enough force, anybody can break them free. The purpose is to deter the casual thief or "borrower", and this cable does the trick for a very economical price. Why pay more for a super thick expensive cable when the weakest link is that little tab that goes into the computer. This completely met my expectations. The cord is pretty stiff but it seems super secure. My coworkers call me bike lock and I carry around keys for my laptop but jokes on them because with this lock my portable electronic computer isn t going anywhere and I can spend my time doing better things than filling out police reports.5works as advertisedThis does exactly what it is supposed to do, that is, lock anything with a standard "kensington" opening commonly found on laptops. My only slight concern is that the lock itself is attached to the cable with what appears to be a rivet. The rivet could be chopped off, I believe. But then with the right tool, the cable could be cut as well, so this device is really more of a deterrent than absolute protection against all efforts to break it. I use it to chain my laptop to the table during trade shows, and for such a purpose it is perfect.5
