Customer Reviews

Works; but a pain. Large size does block wind; but it's large size is also a bother if you use it on the cellphone mic. It also makes installing the mic difficult on the cellphone. Many times I would not use it over the mic due to this simple reason. 2Works for a number of mics. As long as this fits on your microphone it'll do the job. I use it without hesitation on my Scheops CMIT 5U and it does a great job. Yes on a super windy you will still get a little over-modulation, but that is only in extreme circumstances. So unless you're a serious professional or planning on shooting a doc in a hurricane, save yourself the money and get this instead of a blimp for now. The blimps do a better job, but you just don't need them all the time. Very easy to use and take off. 5Pretty good wind protection Got a NTG-2 on a killer deal from B&H... I'd really love to have the full blimp/dead wombat wind protection system for my boom, but it's $300 and i barely use the mic at all anyway, so I really couldn't justify spending that much more. I haven't really tested the WS6 nearly as much as i should, but in a small, light wind it keeps things pretty quiet. Obviously anything much over a medium breeze and you're going to wish you had the blimp, but for the most part this windscreen seems to do a pretty decent job. 4Says it is made for the NTG3 but doesn't fit perfect I am using this Wind screen with my NTG3 microphone and a shock mount. The wind screen is so long that when the microphone is fully inserted only about an inch and a half sticks out to put in a shock mount. I have to slide the wind screen forward another inch so that I can attach the micrphone to my camera.Otherwise the wind screen is great. No shedding or loose hair. Great subtle dark gray color. Overall very high quality and stops every bit of wind. 4Does the job I bought this to replace the windscreen on my Rode NTG-1. It's the exact same thing. It works well to reduce wind noise, although if you're in moderate to heavy wind, you'll want to use a deadcat or blimp. My old one lasted six years, hopefully this one does, too.I think if you wanted to use it with the Rode VideoMic Pro, you'd have to cut it down.If you were thinking about using this for a longer mic like the Sennheiser MKH-416, it won't quite fit. 5Works on my Sennheiser ME66 Shotgun Mic I bought this for my Sennheiser ME66 Shotgun Microphone and it fits perfectly! I read all the reviews and no one mentioned using it on a Sennheiser shotgun microphone, so I wasn't sure if this would fit, but it does. I'm a freelance videographer and have been shooting videos of football games lately. The windy conditions outdoors can wreak havoc on our sound recording, but the first time I used this windscreen there was very little wind noise on the audio recordings. I'm very satisfied with this product!!! 5blocked out wind so well for my vlogs This is awesome! Blocked out 100% of wind on the beach for my vlogs and the wind was 40mph i did not expect it to work so well but it exceeded my expectations. thank you! 5For General Use, I Have it On Inside and Out These puff ball windscreens work well up to a point. Obviously if you're shooting on location in the middle of kansas with 40 mph winds, you're going to need a blimp which is way more expensive. But for a bit of a breezy day this filter works quite well, WAY better than the foam rubber screen that comes with the NTG-3. I notice very little shifting of audio tone with this on. In fact, I'll use it for indoor shoots as well, who knows if you'll walk under a ceiling fan or even have to follow the subject outside. For me this is a must-have given the price (vs a blimp which can run around 300 bucks). 5Doesn't really work well for me I replaced a 10 year old Rode with a plain label deadcat of equal age which did a pretty good job in the wind. Over 15mph it had issues. This one I'm using with a new NTG4 and the slightest breeze at any angle picks up wind noise. Seems like nice quality and it surprised me how poorly it performed. Adjusting settings isn't really a fix and shouldn't be required. Luckily I do have a blimp and managed to get through the day, but if you're serious about pristine audio, and wind is anything over 10mph, I'd recommend testing your gear thoroughly. 3... because our church is secluded and is surrounded by beautiful scenery. We were noticing a lot of noise ... We've been doing interviews outside on our church patio with just the rode videomic just because our church is secluded and is surrounded by beautiful scenery. We were noticing a lot of noise interference from the wind so we bought this wind shield. It gets really windy here in Oklahoma so it didn't block all the wind it but it was a noticeably, big difference. It works great when we use it inside with a crowd cutting down background noise. We love this product. 4
