    It's pretty much a requirement for the way I use my ...It's pretty much a requirement for the way I use my RAM mount on my motorcycle. It's a great product. The only negative thing is that the rotational movement is built on a hexagonal design that really limits the number of positions of rotation available. This really means there is practically only 3 options for rotation, since half if the hexagon is effectively a duplication of the other half.If the rotation axis were unlimited or had a octagon or decagon shape for more positions, it would be a flawless product.4but a better choice might be two of the short and 1 ...I got this because with a single arm I wasn't able to get my x-grip to rotate to where I needed it to be. It works OK, but as others have mentioned, there is a stepped adjustment in the center piece, that seems to be just exactly a smidgen more than can be adjusted out by moving the ball end, when it is perpendicular to the arm. if you have run out of room trying to move your attachment at the end, you know what I mean. With this double end piece, one adjustment is just too much on one side, and moving to the next setting is just a little too far on the next side. I was able to fiddle around and get an acceptable configuration, but a better choice might be two of the short Ram Mount Composite Short Double Socket Arm for 1-Inch Ball Bases and 1 of Ram Mount Double 1-Inch Ball AdapterI'm not going to replace this since I got it working, but if I had to do it again on another installation I would go with the two arms joined with the ball socket.4RAM Products are Great - I'd Purchase This Again in a HeartbeatI used this RAM product as part of a dash cam installation in my car, which has a long, angled windshield. As I didn't want to trust the suction cup mount included with the camera, I used a Ram Mount Rail Base with Stainless Steel U-Bolt over the rear mirror stem to begin the installation and then added several components, including a tee assembly to connect another leg to a RAM Mount Suction Cup Base stuck midway down the windshield to add stability as it extends nearly the full distance, suspended over the dashboard a couple of inches. There is no "bounce" in the system. It's rock-solid. I added a Ram Mount EZY-Mount Quick Release Adapter to allow for easy removal after simply unplugging the power cable, which travels over the RAM Mount system to disappear into the headliner over to and inside the side post and finally courses under the dash to the power connection.Like almost all RAM products, this is a quality item. It allows complete rotation, which was important to me because of the need to adjust the horizontal positioning of the dash cam. It allows for a level of flexibility unavailable with other RAM double socket arms. No issues at all. I'll purchase this and other RAM products again if needed.5It's a 3 pc kit but SUPER USEFULDon't let the picture throw you when it gets shipped. It comes in what looks like 2 short RAM mounts. I also found in a small black plastic O ring looking piece for a total of 3 separate factory sealed packages.Once you understand the packaging, get everything out and open it slips right together. This device does what you always want the standard RAM mount to do. Which is the need for it to move in two different directions.5Fixes a problem!Bought this for my 9 day adventure motorcycle tour up the coast of Maine and it made adjusting my GoPro so much easier. I have used RAM mounts for years, but this piece solves the problem of getting your item in just the right position. Locks down tight and doesn't move, like all RAM's stuff.5double socket RAM mountarrived quickly. works well, but I would like them to put another groove on the bottom to help position just a little better. otherwise, did the trick on my motorcycle.4Extremely versatile and well made!If you're building a GoPro kit like I am, at first glance this item doesn't look like it does very much. I spent money on an assortment of other adapters trying to get the right position. Broke down and bought this item Wow. Really? Yes, it did EXACTLY what I needed, replacing two similar items.5As others mentioned the halves on the inside edges are ...As others mentioned the halves on the inside edges are hex shaped and so is the dropped edge of the insert the two clamps rotate around. At first when fitting I thought an edge was catching but upon disassembly noticed this. Why could the insert have not been made round and the clamps as well? That would allow infinite adjustment. This is designed to allow this type of fitment so somebody was not fully cognizant of it in use or as buyers may want. You can clamp it on the peaks of the hex but it may pop into the flats or may just keep the clamp open a little more. In any case I adjusted so was on the flats of the Hex, rotated more than I wanted and then was able to twist the clamps on the balls to get it 98% as I wanted. Because of this I gave the item 4 stars. With a Dremel tool, file or sandpaper, one may be able to round off the hex shape of the plastic enough to allow more incremental rotation and adjustment. It works though if you need to position something offset and each clamp right angle mounting a device.4Nice little mountThis is a very versatile mount. I like how much adjustability there is. It doesn't buzz around like the RAM RAP-B-200-2U mount does on my motorcycle. Where the top and bottom swivel there are 6 flats which slightly limit the adjustability of the mount but over all this is a very solid little bracket.5I like it butI like it but .... It seems to be too fat. It also does not turn freely as the pivot has sides - I think it is hex so the two parts can rotate on each other but only in steps. This is made up for as the balls allow rotation also. Just not quite what I expected.4
