These got us through Hurricane Harvey! Got these the day before the Houston flood hit. These are a lifesaver, they absorbed some of the water that got in our living room during hurricane Harvey. These quick dams are worth their weight in gold, they will spare you so much grief and trouble. We are going to buy more of these just to have on hand, God forbid we have more storms here in Houston. These are a lifesaver I cannot stress that enough. Thank you Quick Dam for making such excellent products! Sincerely a fan for life. 5Works but the inside material gets all over your hands. Is that what is supposed to happen? I purchased two Quick Dams to keep water from entering my garage from the driveway. During an absolute deluge they worked okay. They swelled up and seemed to keep water from flooding the garage and basement. But the reason for the three stars is because after one use the material inside is oozing out. I had to move the dams so I wouldn't drive over them and the stuff got all over my hands. After four days of "drying out" (two days in the sun) the material is still all over the dam. I have no idea if my dams are defective. I'd like to hear from the seller/manufacturer.I'll update the review either when I use them again or if they ever dry out.Thanks. 3THESE WORK! Six weeks ago our backyard flooded and the water came pouring into the house through the closed, sliding glass doors. We bought Quick Dams in case it ever happened again. When Tropical Storm Rosa was moving our way we put the Quick Dams out and pre-soaked them the day before the storm was scheduled to arrive. THEY WORKED. This picture is of our back yard last night. We did not have one drop of water get past the Quick Dams and into the house. I just bought ten more. I will always have these on hand. 5It's a miracle So a couple of weeks ago I hear we're supposed to have a deluge, and remembering how my garage floods (new house) I order this thing practically 911 in anticipation of the deluge that never comes. Being lazy I just left the thing lying in front of the garage door, ignoring that in intervening weeks the feral cats and wind have repositioned it so it's about 6-8" out of position. Last night, awakened after 11 p.m. by a real deluge, pop out of bed & open the house door to the garage. Surprise, surprise...bone dry. Don jacket and head gear, run outside to check front of garage and the Quick Dam is swollen up like a stuffed turkey, doing its little job - even completely out of position and without the seam end tucked under the door - stopping the rain and sending the excess down the drain. Dunno about the drying out to reuse process yet, but so far it's a big hit and I'd recommend it highly. 5Saved Me This is about the fourth one I've bought in the past 3 months. It may be reusable after it dries, but I don't want to take a chance. It does start to smell a bit moldy if you leave it in place after it's soaked up water. I used this inside for a leaking basement foundation. It soaks up an amazing amount of water. Makes a pretty good dam preventing water from reaching the carpet. It doesn't make a perfect dam . . . some water still leaks underneath, but it slowed it down considerably. My only complaints?1. This thing is extremely heavy (from all the water it's soaked up) when I have to pick it up to carry it outside.2. Wear gloves when removing while it's wet. There is some type of desiccant gel (maybe silica) inside that irritates my hands.Works like it should. Has saved me more than once. 5Worked Like a Charm These work great. We had an issue for years with a large patio sliding door. Water was coming in from underneath and wetting the carpet when we had rains that pelted on that window. We installed these along the length of the slider on the outside and had no water enter the house at all. I am so happy to have found this product. If you have a similar issue as the one I explained, this works!!! So affordable and re-usable as well. 5Must have This is a great product. I had three and used them all. Water creeps inside along the driveway during rain over a period of many days.. This along the wall will take care of this for about a year. It really works. These are reorders. Always have them on hand to create a water barrier anywhere. In my photo you see two of these. I used one a few weeks ago when my washer leaked I created a dam to keep the water spreading all over the basement. Afterwards I took the snake outside and placed it on the wall where i had one already. This is a vulnerable spot on my house the builders stupidly sloped the driveway slightly toward the house so every time it rains water pools and runs under the siding. These things are live savers. 5Got 2 10' Quick Dams the day before Tropical Storm ... Got 2 10' Quick Dams the day before Tropical Storm Harvey hit Houston. They literally saved my house from flooding. Placed them along base of 2 sets of french doors in my patio and they worked incredibly well. Expanded quickly and had the density and weight of one long sand bag. My backyard doesn't drain well and with the incredible amount of rain we received - over 40" in my neighborhood during the storm - water flooded my patio and if it weren't for the Quick Dam barriers the water would certainly have made it through the doors. 10-Star! 5Not as good as it used to be...but still cheap insurance Let me start off by saying this is the third time I've purchased this particular brand of water dam, so so I can't knock it too much...but its not what it used to be. Our first Quick dam (17') lasted almost 2-1/2 years, and in those years there was a lot of cycling from dry to wet and back again, combined with dragging it back and forth on an asphalt driveway (we use it to stop rainwater from entering through our two-car garage door) and despite the advertising saying you can drive over it, we decided NOT to take a chance. Anyway, it finally wore out and wouldn't expand anymore, so we purchased another (17') Quick Dam hoping for another good run time-wise. Unfortunately, we immediately noticed a difference. While the product worked extremely well initially, it started losing a bit of the (cellulose?) filler through the bottom stitching/seams which help create the "foot" of the dam. We attributed this loss to the newer style sewing/stitchwork when compared to the original. This slow loss went on for the duration of the Spring/Summer/Fall seasons which left us with a minimally usable product at the end of the year. We chalked it up to maybe getting a "bad one" off the production line, and purchased three more (including these two) because its a cheap investment in protection against water damage (for us).We bought 2 -10' Dams and a 17', because we wanted to try simply moving 1 10' section instead of our usually having to move/flip-back 1/2 of a 17' dam in front of the garage door. The 17' is still in its pack, unused, because we are using the 2 10' dams to provide a wider coverage area.Bottom line, aside from the difference in widths of the Quick Dams is that there is still an issue of the product losing its filler. I've attached a photo showing the loss of fill (white material in seam of dam) after the dam's first use. There is NOT a substantial amount of fill lost, and while some loss may be expected, after just a half dozen dry/wet/dry cycles its already not as "full" and doesn't block the water as well as when new. I can only attribute this to the product having less absorbent material inside after each use. The product does work, and works pretty well, I was just hoping for a longer product life span. For the money its a good product against preventing water damage, its just not as good as it used to be... 3Great product I have had problems with mud runoff, into our pool, for a long time. I have tried sandbags but they are extremely heavy to put out and put away and they're unsightly. I saw this and used it for the first time this morning. Works better than advertised. Very light, you just lay it out and it expands as it gets wet. The only anticipated drawback is that it takes 2-3 months to dry out but I haven't experienced that yet. Still better than those sand bags. Would definitely buy again - especially at this price. 5
