Busted on first use Used these for the first time today/last night. While they did work for the initial use when I woke up in the morning I found that the "gel" had leaked out of the sack. Doubt I will be able to reuse these again. Really disappointed. 1Save your money, get real sandbags Not impressed. Ordered three of these with overnight delivery to deal with some flooding. the ease of deploying them and ability to reuse were really appealing as we are on a river that floods almost annually.First lesson, if you lay them out dry to wait for the water to rise they will move and shift as they inflate. Not a huge deal as the water was coming in slowly so we were able to readjust as necessary.We then ordered three more buckets as flooding was increasing and we wanted them on hand just in case.We are currently one week into major flooding and have had four bags randomly deflate, because of this our wall has breeched in a number of areas and is totally worthless at this point. They are about as effective as throwing down a blanket to hold back the water. The gel inside easily sloshes all to one side and makes stacking difficult as well.Luckily we had not opened three of the buckets and were able to send them back. Considering the rest are soaked with flood water I assume I won't be seeing any of that money back (learning opportunity I guess).My opinion, don't waste your money. Go get real sandbags. I will never trust these to protect anything of value.My second lesson learned for anyone who actually needs to hold back a substantial amount of water I recommend getting a roll of plastic 4ft x however long your sandbag wall needs to be, put your plastic down build your wall on the edge of the plastic three or four tall (holding it to the found), roll your plastic up (water side obviously) over the wall and anchor it with additional bags. That way you have a solid sheet of plastic backed by sandbags against the water. 1To make matters worse, our electrical runs through the basement wall at ... Living in Wisconsin, at the base of a hill, we flood every spring. To make matters worse, our electrical runs through the basement wall at the base of the hill, meaning that during the spring, if left unchecked, the water running down the hill not only floods into the basement, but does so directly behind the electrical box. We've been using Quickdam for the past three years all along the side of our home that the runoff comes into and have had no, and I mean no, moisture flow into the basement. Where we had standing water every spring for our first two years now we have a dry basement. And four years in, we are still using the original bags. Never taken them inside; they stay where they were originally placed and deal with the elements. 5If I can ever get into the bucket.. ... If I can ever get into the bucket..I'm thinking now a jig saw might get me in arrgh...I don't have much hope for the contents. I have put out about a dozen 1'x2' bags and 5 10 footers so far and they are mostly flat and/or leaking. There is just not enough material to poof them up. I laughed out loud when I saw the picture on the instructions! I'm going to make them work, but it's going to take tripling them...at least. Very disappointing. 2Fantastic product I was a little skeptical when I bought these. They recommend to pre soak them and yes you should. I was concerned because spraying them with the water hose they didn t swell much. But when it began to rain the sweeper to their full capacity and worked extremely well. I highly recommend these they are well worth the price. 5I should have bought sooner! Wouldn t you know-I buy them & it quite raining!! So I am unable to fully evaluate. But I can say that they are so much better sand bags-easy to move, no sand to clean up and much lower profile than sand bags. The one that I soaked looked great & so much easier to work with than sand bags. 5It stopped all the water from coming into our basement This product works great. One way I found to use it in colder, Spring weather was to have a five-gallon bucket of warm water, insert each barrier into it and let it expand. It only took a couple of minutes but it allowed me to place them in the movement of the water stopping it from coming into our basement-the first time in 25 years we had water. I would recommend to anyone. The manufacturer should have a small plastic holder on the inside of your lid for the instructions since they fall out and get wet /destroy, especially if you plan to use them again. 5Good Product. Worked For Me. I purchased this product for hurricane season in South Florida. I had the opportunity to use five of the 2 ft. bags to help with the expected rise in storm water at my residence. Fortunately, I only needed 5 2 ft. bags near my patio bathroom sliding glass door. The product does work. The only drawback is drying out and reusing the bags. However, I left mine in place until hurricane season is over. I'm very pleased. 4Should be in everyone's garage or basement These deliver exactly as promised. They look like lightweight sleeve (think a postal Jiffy bag), but with a trace of water, swell up with a gel inside. No leakage that I've seen. The mix of sizes, from single bag about the size of a milk carton to 6 foot long tubes that are great for redirecting water as much as blocking it. Have had these outside all sumner , without any degradation in performance (they just start to shrink when dry, swell when wet.)These are good for standard home emergency's (leaking washer, over flowing basement stairwell), but not for real broken levee type of flood control. They are still relatively small/thin/light (think like an overstuffed firehose) and don't have the stackable heft of a true sandbag. You also probably want to buy more than you think you need. But that's also their beauty - dry or wet, they are easy to move or store.Saved my bacon (and kept the basement dry) more than a couple of times in this ultra wet DC summer. Recommended. 5They work great at stopping a leak They work great at stopping a leak. They become slimy and don t reduce back in size much at all even when it s sunny and 90 outside. 3
