Customer Reviews

Exactly what I was looking for in a travel stand!I was looking for a stand that will easily travel in my backpack to be used for mounting my iOgrapher phone case (videoing volleyball matches). This stand fits the bill perfectly and would normally be a 5-star rating. However, the stand sent to me seems to have a flaw in the function of the highest extension as it's difficult to extract/retract and even comes fully out of the extension below it, which I am pretty sure should not be the case. The stand is also at a slight angle when extended. It seems I will be able to use it, but I may try contacting Promaster for a replacement.3stable and well builti was trying to decide between this and the savage multiflex stand and decided this one had the best price to quality/functionality ratio. tried it out on a shoot in the desert and it did fine. mind you setting it at a wide foot print shortens the height but i wasn't using it very high to begin with. it is quick to setup and take down and pretty light and compact.5If you travel these are a must haveYou certainly can t throw a giant skylight on this, but small LEDs, even a one by one if you sandbag it will work. These are my favorite light stands, they are super pricey but definitely worth it if you re traveling. We have three of these and use them for three point lighting kits with our LED light kit and it s a great solution if you re on the road5The tripod itself is great however the legs of the pro-master stand I received ...The tripod itself is great however the legs of the pro-master stand I received do not lock out at the same angle! That is, when the legs are locked out to the same position (e.g. the first lock position) the stand is not vertical. One of the legs locks out farther than the other two by a couple of degrees. I like the tripod a lot but it appears to be defective.1Almost a perfect unique stand but just a little short and tipsyNow I'm sure my girlfriend has said this about me once or twice and I, as she probably said before making this statement, mean no disrespect but this stand would be perfect if it was a little longer, stiffer at the edge or top end and had a wider stance option instead of extremely narrow and useless to almost there and I'm not 100% sure of putting anything of value on it. It's well made, very compact at 16" although I would have been happy at 18" if it was to provide a longer extension but overall it seems for its build quality and thickness I would have imagined a little longer and sturdier light stand. But i love the design and i spent a long time looking to see if this company made other sizes. If you guys do let me know! This one is just missing the mark otherwise a great stand!3VERY good! These things have passed every test I have thrown at them. Great adjust ability from flat to unlevel ground. When legs are flat and the legs are extended - With a softbox and an AD600Bm Mounted it would take a VERY strong wind to know these over. Folding to just 16 inches means that I can get them into a carry on if I have to... Great product. Disclaimer - you may find that setting these up will take a bit more than your ordinary lightstand due to the fact that each leg has to be positioned (unlike a light stand that all the legs fold down together) - however... once that's done these things are very stable.5Better than ExpectedThe photos of this stand make it look very lightweight and flimsy. After receiving it, it is anything but. It far exceeded my expectations. This stand is build like a battle tank, with high quality construction. The legs are 1 inch diameter metal tubes that independently lock into several fixed positions, or can be placed in any other position, including straight out horizontally -- or folded straight up for transport or storage. The vertical sections have solid locks and extend easily. The feet are large, 1 inch wide and rubberized. On top is a heavy-duty brass 1/4-20 male tripod mount.I'll be using it for mounting 360 cameras, GoPros, LED lights, and possibly microphones. I value the versatility and all-round usefulness of this product. It's much more than a "light stand."5Very stable. But short. This has the furthest reaching base legs out of any I've had. Second place is Matthews reverse stands. Then Flashpoint nano or Matthews MERF.I tried Matthews MERF, Matthews reverse stand, These, Flashpoint 9 and 7 nano, And Manfrotto 490 and nano. I kept this one and the 2 Matthews ones. But the Flashpoint are a close second. And the Flashpoint 9 is taller then any of them. This models base legs go WAY out. To be more sturdy it would need 4 legs. My only issue is it's very short. So using for a main can't work unless you boom it. Which I do. But booming them I prefer the Matthews Reverse. It's taller to start with.Anyway, It's still a great stand.5Excellent StandI received the stand and my first impression was the build quality. I liked the thickness of the rubber feet, the legs have a solid click as they are folded back and forth, the quality of the aluminum used is very nice and the latches have good firm click with placed in the closed locked position.I would give this stand a 5 star rating. However, I know I received a bad copy of this stand. The one I received is suffering from a sticking leg that gets stuck half way while retracting and extending. The leg does fully extend and retract, but I have to exert lots of force to make it do so.3Askew when extended, great potential otherwise.Like another reviewer, my stand is defective. When fully extended, the stand leans to one side because one leg opens a bit further than others.I really like the idea of this stand, as it is compact, versatile, and operates like a camera tripod. At first glance, the feel is robust, but I question the quality in part due to the defect mentioned above, and for the quality of the leg extension clips. The clips seem thinner and less sturdy than clips on a camera tripod. I d like to hear from other owners how this stand holds up over time. For now, I will go with the more traditional Compact light stand - the Matthews Reversible Leg Stand 7 .3
