Not 37; don't be fooled. Nowhere near 34 or 37 NRR. I own proper 3M 33dB NRRs this "decibel defense" is way worse. Also it's uncomfortable compared to earplugs and even other over the head earmuffs. 1Decent, but misleading. I've used better. While these were comfortable enough, I don't feel like I was getting the advertised 37dB of protection. I've used AO Safety Ultimate 10 earmuffs (30dB NRR) for quite a while, which I felt protected me more. I still felt a bit of that sharp crack in my ears when shooting my 9mm at the range with the DD muffs. As with most/all over-the-ear range muffs, my ears eventually got sweaty after 20 minutes or so.Further, I felt a little mislead. The advertising and product title say they are rated to 37dB, but the box's fine print says it's OSHA certified for only 34dB. Not sure how that works, but it just seems a bit misleading to advertise 37dB NRR when a governing body for this sort of thing only certifies them for 34dB. See attached picture for what I'm talking about.Overall, these were decent for the money, but I felt they were a bit overrated on Amazon. 3UPDATED** Good at cutting noise, comfortable and great customer service!! These definitely cut out the higher frequencies caused by power tools. However I'm not sure if it's just my pair but I did not find these no where near as comfortable as people have claimed they are. I can't imagine someone's kid wearing these for hours on end. I also noticed the holes for your ear can be a little snug but I also have slightly larger ears than normal. At the end of the day they get the job done but as soon as I'm finished I immediately take them off because they aren't very comfortable.UPDATE ** 1/16/2017Ron the owner reached out to me personally regarding my experience and let me know that a few pairs they had sent out seemed to have a harder foam surrounding the ears. He offered to send another pair out for me to try which was a big difference. Like I said before these do a great job at cutting noise and now with the pair I have they are rather comfortable. I would definitely recommend these to anyone looking for a good quality product from a reputable seller. 5Nice Product and reasonably priced Snow Blower, Yard Machines, Leaf Blower are all part of my life, this does the job of cutting down the noise, actsas warming ear muffs during the winter and I get to listen to a book on tape with earbuds under it without blowingout my eardrum 5Disappointing! Misleading description. I am very dissatisfied because the product is only a plastic shell with a common foam inside. The acoustic insulation is lousy and the quality is not that described in the advertisement.The photos show what the product is made of, see!! 1Great Noise Blocking! Excellent product. I've used every foam ear plug out there and nothing comes close to this. I go to bed early, and with a dining/kitchen and living room just one wall away, noise always creeps in. These block everything I need and I can sleep in dead silence. I highly recommend this!! Regarding sleeping with these, I sleep in a recliner due to lower back issues so me head is straight back on a pillow. If wanted for sleep, they are too big to move your head around much or sleep on your side. For my situation, however, they are perfect. 5go with teh 3M Peltor much better DD said this is a 37 db NRR..no way. I got these and a pair of Pelter by 3M 29 db NRR. I put them on back and forth and the Peltors are much better. so I pulled the foam out. The DD has 1/2 in low density foam with a small 1.5 x. 2.5 x .5 high density foam. with a single wall shell. The Pelter has double wall shell with 3.5 x 2.5 x 1.5 high density foam. much less sound out of the Peltor 3M. Pelter on right DD left. 2Perform as advertised I have dealt with Tinnitus(ringing ears) due to high frequency hearing loss since childhood. As such, I am very sensitive to loudnoise. I have employed ear muffs and plugs for over 40 years to deal with noise exposure. This experience has allowed me tobe abnormally sensitive to ear muff effectiveness. My last set of muffs advertised 30 db sound reduction so decided to try Decibel Defensedue to a higher decibel rating. These muffs utilize a slightly different approach to holding the muffs tightly to the head. I feelstrongly that they do indeed provide a higher level of db sound reduction than previous products I have used. I can recommendthis product strongly as I believe they perform as advertised, are quite comfortable, easily adjustable and appear to be well made. 5Five hours later, he was still wearing them! I bought these for my son who has autism and needs a little noise muffling in certain circumstances. In fact, we keep ear muffs at home and we send a set with him to school for those times when his classroom gets a little noisy! We recently had some kid-version ear muffs, but he said they were now too small and hurt to wear. My son is only 10 years old, so I was surprised the kids' ear muffs didn't last him a little longer. Anyway, we got this set last night and I had them try them on. Five hours later, he was still wearing them! They were that comfortable! I'm glad we've found him a set that will really help him AND he doesn't mind wearing them. 5I read the reviews and noted the few post that are either not happy or skeptical of the effectiveness of the DD product I dont know a decibel from a decimal. I do know nose from lawn equipment. I ordered these ear protectors not to lower the nose to my ears but to simply replace my worn-out protectors. In this case, the vast majority loved the DD product. So, I bought themI was shocked at two things. One: QUIET! Two: Comfortable.The nose levels from my full size zero turn machine and my ear splitting weed eater, are many times quieter than my old protectors. What a pleasant surprise!After 2 hours on my ears, the DD product still feels comfortable. No ear pain or pinch, none!You can search your heart out, you will not find a quieter or more comfortable ear protector than the DD product.I received no favors, discounts or product from the company for this review. 5
